Position #1 is definitely the best. Your voice will be amplified best through the speakers. You should even hold you mic some closer to your mouth.

Wrong. Position 1 is perfect for singing, however for hosting and presenting you'll get almost nothing and people can't see your face. Position 2 is the go to for presenting or hosting

I've worked as a wedding musician for 30 years and I've heard enough inaudible best man speeches to last a lifetime. Using a Mic 101 should be a required class in high school.

I learned another trick similar to #3. Hold the microphone just below the "head" with the grip you show. Then out and upwards your thumb and place it under you chin and keep it "stuck" there. That way you will know that the mic is at the same place all the time and now slowly sliding down and that your thumb and chin is "glued" together and you cannot reperate them. The mic head will be slithly under your lower lip reducing puffing

Have you guys ever tried putting your microphone against it's speaker?
    Would it explode?

    • @karlisimo

Hi Symon! Putting a microphone in front of its loudspeaker doesn't make it explode, but it produces a very loud and unpleasant sound. So if you find yourself with the microphone right in front of a speaker, you should always put your body between the microphone and the speaker. That's an easy and professional way of avoiding that unpleasant sound!

So, there is no front or back of the microphone? I always say the Logo is the front. Based on that, I guess the figure of a super cardiod mic is from middle to the back, where the back holds the third small circle of a 'super cardio' figure

Thanks for the nice tips. If lean against the chin, won't the distance reduce too much? Around how many inches should be the distance, 6 inches?

Hollywood comes to your home microphone?..... personally I'm using the microphone for voice recognition for writing books, I need that crisp/powerful first syllable to be audible for Dragon; in exactly the same way that the sound engineer in a Hollywood studio: "wants: and needs and must have clarity from the first syllable", avoid the directors call, "dud-take", I want the whole studio to note that the soundman gave that take a thumbs down, young actor this is your first speaking part?, didn't your drama school hammer it into you that you've got to sort your voice out long before you get to a studio or stage or microphone of any sort, mumbling the first syllable involves time-consuming corrections, it isn't commercial, retakes cost money. Richard Burton, a very famous actor used go into the hills above where he lived; and shouting into the wind; developed the voice characteristics he needed to star in the Hollywood blockbusters of his age.....only practice works......

hmmm not sure about these suggestions. they look very mechanical. You should be holding the mic like the grip of a tennis racket; fingers slightly slayed & never with a clenched fist; especially for ladies.
