This resort still is the Star Fish in Cayo Santa Maria. The resort is SO BIG that they only used 1/2 of it. We stayed here in 2015 and spent a lot of time in what’s now the abandoned section in the video. We used the large pool in this video as there were many chairs but literally nobody was using this area. No bars, restaurants or even workers around. We had to walk to get drinks and food but the privacy was nice. Our building that we stayed in was closer to this area than the main pool and restaurant area. The main lobby in the video, this building was connected to the other 1/2 of a large building which had an almost identical lobby…..which is still operational I do believe. This resort was a little strange as it looks like that they built 2 identical resorts and then connected them together. Only to later close 1/2 and only use the other 1/2 as a still functioning resort.
This is eerie and honestly heartbreaking. I hope the situation in Cuba turns around one day and the people of Cuba see better days. I hope their tourism industry recovers too, it looks like covid really did them in.
This is a Starfish resort, owned and operated by the Sunwing Group, a Canadian company. It is the lowest rated of their resort lines. I don’t think its abandoned, but closed down. They would have e a skeleton staff on to maintain their assets. It’s possible the company is planning to renovate the property. They also own the Royalton, Memories along with Starfish. You’re kind of trespassing. 😊
I don't even understand how I happened upon your video but I've been to this resort! I recognized the lobby from the thumbnail. My stay was about a decade ago with an ex of mine. The name of the resort isn't coming to me but even then when I was there the place was feeling rough around the edges and a lot of the beach infrastructure looked like it does now. I remember there being an all you can eat lobster night that is still up there as one of my favourite meals. I was young and drunk like everyone else there and most importantly, the place was cheap! I wonder if it was the pandemic that took it out or if I was there in it's final years.
I went here in 2022 it’s starfish cayo Santa María it’s jdut split into 2 kind of hotels but same resort, it isn’t really abandoned it’s just not being used, if it was abandoned things would be falling apart more, I visited here also thinking it was abandoned but I realized it wasn’t and we saw people who were cleaning up the “abandoned side” and transporting boxes and stuff, if you want to see a real abandoned resort in cuba look at the el senador or el emporador resort in cayo coco cuba next to mojito cuba when I was staying at tryp cayó coco that’s abandoned since 2012 with a deep but very not known history on its closing and opening. Now el senador is rotting many buildings falling apart and bug infested and plant infested

I am confused if this was shot recently how is the resort open now? This is next door to Royalton which I have been to twice and just returned from Paradisus Los Cayos on Wednesday
Many resorts shut down for low season. But when high season hits these resorts fire back up. As a matter of fact I was considering booking this resort a few weeks ago. Do you not know this or is it better for you to show the supposed sad side of Cuba? Do your homework or just stop posting sensational BS….

That's strange that the water is still in the pools and is crystal clear. Its almost like someone is keeping them clean.
It is clearly being renovated. You can see they have been replacing tags with room numbers.

I can’t say for sure if it’s just temporary closed or abandoned, but we did see someone at the lobby and we stopped. That’s why my video ends there
