It's better to buy the small bags new, but sometimes we can't because they sell out before any normal shoppers have a chance to get them. It's so frustrating to see something that I have my heart set on buying and loving be sold out by people who just scoop them up to turn around and resell for a profit. Love your point about vintage though, I'm planning to explore some vintage shops in my area!

I just picked up a 30 year old Chanel flap a few weeks ago and I have to agree, there’s just something lovely about how the leather feels!

I have a vintage medium Chanel flap from 1989! Looove that it's the same age as me. It held its structure beautifully.

I bought a vintage Chanel single flap last year during lockdown on Vestiaire Collective and I am so in love with it! Like you said it’s wonderful to wear a “jewel” that has been loved before us! I bought a vintage black Chanel square mini with the bijoux chain for £2,500 it’s in really good condition with some signs of wear these bags are nearly £3000 now. Much prefer the vintage square style then the newer ones.

I love searching for beautiful vintage pieces, this year I purchased a beautiful vintage Alma and Lady Dior and I’m thrilled with them both. The key for me is classic pieces that I can use forever! I have purchased a few trend bags and always end up selling them so now I purchase for long term. I love the vintage Chanel flaps with the 24k gold ❤️ keeping my eyes out for one in my future!

Love vintage bag I have 3 baguette from Fendi and a Valentino 360. I love the story and that also have help to have a collection because I can get a real bag for a much more affordable price. I started to read up about how to get the smell away and that was just to put an old news paper in because the ink on it would withdraw the smell and it has. I would love to know more about saving some old Chanel bags just because they are worth it ❤

I buy most of my preloved items from vinted. Especially French people are selling things they only wore once or twice and they don't ask much money for it. Vinted does not ask taxes or anything from the sellers so all the money goes to them. This allows them to go a bit lower with prices if an item doesn't sell fast.

There's a blue Chanel bag I'd love to buy. The new bags don't have that color, but there are blue ones that are used.
I actually scoured for a particular color bag new and used. It looked like new was the best option, until a consignment shop came up with one in excellent condition :). Keep all options open ☺️

If you close the bag in a plastic container with that charcoal pouch for a few days you can rid of the smell outside also! Leave it sealed in container for a few days and increase depending on how bad smell is and you can leave it in there until smell is gone. Works with a refrigerator baking soda box with the open side too! Hope it helps!

Sophie, another thing you can do to remove smells from bags is to put an arm and hammer baking soda refrigerator disk. They are inexpensive and you just put it inside the bag for a few days. It will pull all the smell out.

I found a Vintage 90’s Chanel Diana Flap bag in the bigger size for $800USD/£579 at a local thrift store! I had it authenticated and everything. Classic black Lambskin with the gorgeous 24kt gold plating. I bring it out every year and do not even thing twice about it being 20+ years old!

For the 1st time in my luxury journey I was able to see a jumbo. So beautiful but huge. Here in Oregon the SA quoted me $7,400. I checked fashionphile and wow, you’re better off buying preloved. I saw some for $4k

It's good to here that Vestiaire Collective will kick back bags. I have heard stories where some resellers are not so great with their authentication process.
The square flap bag is lovely! I appreciate the deodorizing tip. I recently got a few pre loved pieces and airing them out doesn't seem to be doing much.

Your vintage bag is beautiful. The bags with the real gold hardware are light years above the modern bags. They are just so Lux. When you wear it out at night under irregular street lighting you will notice that it glissens. The gold can get a bit dull over time but it comes up really well after a gentle polish with a gold jewellery polishing cloth. I buy them on Amazon. Enjoy!

I’ve made those lil baking soda sachets to remove smells from leather (I love leather but it does absorb everywhere you’ve been) although the charcoal and bamboo bags are such a brilliant idea, and so perfectly sized, I’ve never heard of them before but will definitely check them out, thank you so much for all the advice 😊💕🌸. I’ve always loved my pieces purchased through vintage luxury companies, however, I’ve never purchased through private resellers and I’ve only recently heard of Vestaire Collective, I wanted to try it, but after reading the reviews I’m fairly worried, it can’t honestly be that bad?

I bought my first Choe Tess bag and it´s pre-owned for a very decent price. It´s a version that isn´t available in store right now so that was a major draw to buy pre-owned.

the issue with vestiarie is all the taxes, even if you buy from the uk! it costs a few hundred on top of what you pay :(
For the last 5 years I was set on buying a chanel or dior bag, but I realised that the reason I haven't bought any new bags is that I already have amazing bags from Valentino ysl and givenchy, they fulfill all my needs and still look pristine. So I bought a new ring instead, buying more bags doesn't feel that luxurious anymore.
I loved this video! I have a full time job, a small business and am just about to finish my self-taught degree in digital technology so have been saving up so I can purchase the Chanel bag of my dreams as a well done to me despite my brain telling me to redo the roof on our extension instead 😅
