Bridges Kewell Bowyer Bakke all sensational that season was a joy to watch that football team. What a tragedy that happened and to Michael bridges after his terrible injury the following season.
I believe that it was a real shame that this Leeds Team did NOT win the Premiership around that time. They were so attractive to watch and so present when interviewed.. I was never a Leeds fan but I so admired them. The 1992 Division willers were also very entertaining ?? and I was glad they won it that year..
It is a shame because the owner and board didn't really appreciate what a special group of players they had because they would of gotten rid of O'Leary and brought in a world class manager to work with all that talent and deliver some trophies.
Lol, O'Leary was not that good a coach. He just happened to come upon an explosion of incredible home grown youth players along with a few very astute buys in the transfer market. He did like to play and develop young players, but tactically he was very average which is why he never did anything much afterwards, but he was certainly better than the coaches that came after him who weren't any good at all. Bielsa is in a completely different class and would probably have turned that team around.
Can anybody recall the the Saints game away (where Bridges scored a brilliant hat-trick and we went on to win 3-0)? At about 5:10, in this video, Mark Hughes strikes a fierce volley and unsuccessfully claims a goal. I'm sure that, at the time, he'd hit it so hard that it went in, but the back of the net was so close to the hoardings behind the goal (Older fans will remember how close the stands were to the pitch at the Dell) that it cannoned straight back out & the "goal" was missed by everybody (except Hughes). Am I imagining this? It's hard to make out on this video. I think the official line was that David Hopkins had cleared it off the line. I'd be grateful if someone would confirm that we got lucky & Hughes did indeed score a legitimate goal that wasn't given. MOT :)
+Mark Crawshaw That's exactly what happened (should've been a goal). www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1207101/The-goals-Sportsmails-time-favourite-Phantom-goals.html
I definitely think Leeds under O'Leary could have gone on to win trophies 🏆 O'Leary should never have been sacked -yes he made some mistakes every manager has, O'Leary even said when he took charge that I would probably take 3/4 years and sure enough that's all he lasted another season or two and Leeds could have done it!!
I also want to see these. From the heroics at Highbury (2 seasons in a row) to Alan Smith's genuine tears when they got relegated. And I'm not even a Leeds fan, but my god they were enjoyable to watch.
I believe that it went in and rebounded off the hoarding immediately behind the back Net of the goals.. If you turn up the sound the sound was very clear.
how is possible that Lee Bowyer had an single England cap and it was on year 2002. what a wasted player for the NT. had power and tons of courage, something the NT lacked on those years
Brings back so many good memories of that season as well as the sad ones. We had an amazing squad back then!

True. Wilcox was mint when he joined halfway through the season. Shame Batty got injured against Southampton and missed the rest of the season.
Was a great Side at that time. Remember that season Leeds beat us 5-2 at Maine Road in the FA Cup great Atmosphere that day MCFC
Loved watching this exciting Leeds side. From Carlisle and fan. Thanks for Harte & Bridges 🙂
Wilcox was class for that second half of the season. That allowed Kewell to play up front with Bridges and add some pace.
What a season that was , i first introduced my daughter to Leeds Utd this season.
Bridges was class, kid got a bad bounce.
But we signed Viduka a year later, and he was miles better.
@@jackchadderton6263 He was better, but not by as much as you think. Bridges was like a young Teddy Sheringham before the injuries.
"a 2-0 defeat away to Man United Followed but we ain't gonna show that now are we?"
Thank you to the person who uploaded this, my tape is somewhere in a box in a place I can't reach it

I will never understand why we sacked David O'Leary
O’leary wouldn’t agree to the selling of rio ferdinand to man utd
Probably Bielsa is the best manager for Leeds since O'Leary

THIS WAS THE LAST TIME LEEDS UNTED HAD A DECENT RUN ON THE PREMIER LEAGUE.
Luckily I saved a copy of the magical 00-01 season review before TH-cam took it down.
Hi great channel but is there any chance of the season reviews between 00/01 and 03/04 ?

Many thanks for clarifying! It seemed to pass unnoticed at the time.:)
Loved Michael Bridges I rated him high❤️👊shame about injuries
Do you have the 2002/2003 season review? :)
I saw badly...or Bradford GK was Neville Southall ?!?!?! He used to play in the mid 80s!!! Still active in 2000?!?!?!
Pablo Tupone You are correct, Neville Southall played against Leeds due to injuries, he was 41 years old at the time.
Joey D That’s correct, you’ve got a good memory, think it was Matt Clarke who fell down his stairs at his house at the time!
Kewell, bridges, smith, bowyer, batty, bakke.. some side that
Easily my best day away day watching Leeds Mot
Best side to have never won the premiership.
Newcastle Team 95/96 and 02/03

Kewell was so damn good!
I'm so confused. Did the Mark Hughes goal go in or not?

Ive said it before Lee Bowyer was classic

Pathetic that we blew that season and took it to last day of the season to get Champs League football - O'Leary was a chancer!
The trail and what happened in Istanbul also took its toll
Port Vale, the lowest crowd of the season. Looks like the average crowd at Elland Road these days
