@justinvallejos7378 Justin, thank you for opening up and sharing your current challenges on this journey. 🙏 Recognizing these hurdles is a significant step in itself. The Stoic path is all about self-improvement and understanding, and it's okay to acknowledge that some obstacles take longer to overcome. Is there a Stoic quote or teaching that has resonated with you in your efforts to gain more control over these areas? Sharing and discussing can often help not just you but also others in our community facing similar challenges. Stay strong, keep reflecting, and remember that every step forward, no matter how small, is progress.
Keep working on accepting that our emotions do invade our lives no matter what we do it's a human condition. Try acknowledging what your body is feeling knowing it will pass. I have found that labelling my emotions and not actually absorbing them internally helps. It's taken me 4 years and a mindfulness course to begin to manage living with negatively. Much love and good wishes
Hey brother start choosing no emotions in conversations as practice don't let anything make you too happy or too sad...it is just there....and now...now is all that matters and all we have don't worry about the future and stop living in the past.....NOW!
About #2 Recently, i read about the need for humans to validate themselves. The author suggested that this also applies to one's own opinions rather than "only" the general ego. In a way that makes us want to discuss issues, seeking feedback. This is usually healthy, because if one is the only one doing something, it should be a reason to check if it is the wrong path. However reflecting upon myself, i found that i overdiscuss many of my own chosen habits - in terms of healthy lifestyle, for example. I did this for years and i finally came to the conclusion that it was out of my own insecurity, that i wanted to discuss it or "motivate" other people to do it like me. Crazy thing is that in that moment i always thought i wanted to help them, but if i had acted and spoken out of genuine concern for their well being, im sure i would have been less missionary about it. So from now on, i aim to "live and let live" more and eat what i think is good for me. Thank you for the inspiration!
@martinr2040 Martin, thank you for sharing such a profound and personal reflection. It takes a great deal of self-awareness and honesty to recognize our motivations, especially when they are intertwined with our desire to help and be validated. 🙏 The Stoic path is indeed about self-improvement and understanding, and you're doing a remarkable job on that journey. The "live and let live" philosophy aligns closely with Stoic principles of focusing on our own actions and letting go of trying to control others. How has adopting this new perspective influenced your daily interactions and peace of mind? Sharing your journey can be an inspiration to others as well! Keep growing and reflecting. ✨
This video really helped me recognize the habits that are slowly pulling me away from a Stoic lifestyle. Thank you for sharing such insightful knowledge! The most important lesson I took away: Control your reactions instead of letting external events dictate your emotions.
I'm a slave to all the above. Humility and acknowledge them is the first step for me. How to change is the next one. Powerful Powerful wisdom to renew one's mind with. Thank you for sharing.
one thing I find interesting, some people, depending on how they develop and evolve through life, may discover some of these teachings by themselves. I learned about not dwelling on things I can't control on my own by myself, I also learned that validation was something that tended to make you sentimental, frail, melancholic in the long run since there was no guarantee that life would give you what you seek. However I still held that social status was something important and this was the final straw that kept me perpetually unhappy with myself. Only after I learned of stoicism did I finally become truly happy
@cainpork Thank you for your honest reflection and for subscribing! 🙏 Addressing our emotional attachments and the pull of the past can indeed be challenging, but it's a crucial step in the Stoic journey. It's inspiring to see you actively acknowledging and working on these areas. Is there a specific Stoic practice or strategy that you've found particularly helpful in managing these challenges? Sharing your journey can offer support and insights to others on a similar path. Keep pushing forward and growing in wisdom!
Your self-awareness and commitment to improving on your Stoic journey are commendable. How do you plan to address these challenges and what strategies have you found helpful so far?
Thank you. Great! Slowly sinking in. Very consistent w/principles of 12 step recovery. I'm glad i'm old. I can be unconcerned about the future cuz it's gonna be brief. Letting go is easier cuz holding on is so exhausting. Emotions, ugh. Trying to be friends w/my emotions, not enslaved
Carlos, thank you for sharing such a personal insight. It's fascinating to see the parallels between Stoicism and the principles of 12-step recovery. The journey to understanding and mastering our emotions is a profound one. I'm glad you've found solace in letting go. Do you find any specific Stoic teachings that have been particularly helpful in your journey? Your perspective can be invaluable for many! 🌟
@@stoicbond Thanks for asking, not sure how to answer, even though i recently turned 70, i'm still so clueless about so many things. My tired brain, more frequent "senior moments", things that seemed so urgent years ago now seem trivial. Love rules

Hey @michaeljohnson8058, I'm glad you found the video helpful! Perfectionism can definitely be a tough habit to break, but I believe with the right mindset and tools, it's possible. 😊 What are some steps you plan on taking to work on it? 🤔 Keep striving for progress, not perfection! 🙌🏼
Hey @DoorNumber3Films, thanks for watching the video and sharing your thoughts! It's totally understandable to struggle with failure, especially when it involves others. 🤔 Have you ever considered how stoicism can help you navigate this situation? 💭 Maybe reframing failure as an opportunity for growth and focusing on what you can control can help ease your worries. What do you think? 🤔 Keep engaging with stoicism and let me know how it goes! 😊
I suppose it means that those who would treat me poorly for making mistakes were not worth the effort I put in to care for their opinions in the first place?

This reminds me of taoism a lot, and DBT which is a modern therapy usually used for BPD. Edit: i have bdp and adhd which both lead to poor impulse control. I have a really bad problem with gluttony and doing things for in the moment pleasure. This has lead to a less than ideal relationship with alcohol and money

A lot of the Stoic philosophy videos which use AI voice overs or images come off as hacky or misguided. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at your body of work brother. Please keep going 🙏🙏
I just want to say that I'm really grateful for your videos as they keep me trying to understand intricacies of my life but in a way that is peaceful and constructive. I often catch myself dwelling on the past, but my method to deal with intrusive thoughts and constant rumination is to take a deep breath and try to visualize the idea of me being a unfinished artwork with its current form shaped by previous masters, and by masters I mean experiences or situations. I may require further work, I may feel not good enough, but todays me, while imperfect, is still in a process of "making", perfecting, polishing and it's still beautiful in its own way. I don't know if it's stoic approach but it's heplful to me.
Hey @Parysus, thank you for watching the video and for sharing your personal approach to dealing with intrusive thoughts and rumination. 🙏 It's great to hear that the video has been helpful for you in understanding the intricacies of life in a peaceful and constructive way. 🌅 I love the analogy of being an unfinished artwork shaped by experiences and situations. 🎨 It definitely aligns with the stoic idea of focusing on what we can control and accepting what we can't.
The problem for me is living in the past. Ive lost everyone, my family has long since shes its mortal coil if you will and im still working through this. Every day it's smells, sound, or just out of the blue, smiles of my sister, some joke i had with my father, the look of sadness from my mother as she withered from cancer. In my dreams i see my pets playing and coming to me all happy, the warmth against my shoulders as my father hugs me. Telling me its time to wake up. I dwell in the past for i have nothing left.
@dramspringfeald I'm truly touched by your heartfelt sharing. The depth of your emotions and memories is palpable. Losing loved ones is one of the most challenging experiences we face as humans. Stoicism teaches acceptance and understanding our own reactions, but it does not dismiss the very real pain and grief we go through. It's okay to cherish memories and feel the weight of loss. Have you found any practices or support systems that help you find moments of solace or grounding in the present? Your journey, though incredibly personal, might resonate with many who have faced similar pains. Sending you warmth and strength. Please remember to reach out to professionals or support groups if you ever feel the need.
@@stoicbondsometimes you have to allow yourself regular time to face the memories in order to internalize, and eventually move beyond them. It is notable that you cannot let them consume you. Set an alarm to help arrest your wandering mind if this is a problem. Eventually, you will think on it less as a matter of course. The memories will get no smaller, but your experiences will grow, and eventually they will be minor by comparison.
About the importance of journalling. My past overshadowed and influenced my present up until recently. Although I consciously tried to face painful hurdles, not shirking away from issues, I still couldn't come to grips with it (my past). So I finally wrote it all down, listing the significant and often tragic events as well as my work history. My Memoirs. A small booklet (!) At first in my mother tongue and then again in English. This process , which included repeated editing, was like an exorcism. The pain, anger, a.s.o., when reading it over and over, subsided. Tough process but it brought much peace of mind. Now the challenge is to enjoy it without guilt. I have always been an introspective person, trying to gain insights to help recognise patterns, based on negative childhood " programming". Coming to accept one's life story and value its lessons is an intricate process but I really regret nothing anymore. Mistakes? No, learning.
Hi...I enjoyed learning about the useful habits. However, I disagree with one habit concerning living in the past. Whenever I reflect on a certain peaceful time of my past...I get a happy feeling that I want to hang onto. I benefit from this dream state of mind. However on the flip side of things...I don't want to remember the sad and hard times I've experienced.
@CarolSeymour Thank you for sharing your perspective! It's valuable to hear different viewpoints. Reflecting on positive past experiences can indeed bring joy and comfort, and there's nothing inherently wrong with that. The Stoic perspective typically emphasizes not getting overly attached to or dwelling on past events, be they good or bad. @@stoicbond Maybe kinda long, tho as an author, brevity isn’t my forte (thus the $1k+ for my copy editor!) My best is to practice NOT getting emotional on the downside, but definitely do so on the up-more so for other people’s successes, triumphs, displays of endurance & resiliency. I believe to have that POV is partially inborn, tho mostly by practice-especially when your own life is not going so well, despite doing things mostly right. Surely shouldn’t be the reason, it truly is a great feeling when people recognize it-& that *it’s authentic-as it’s rare. I always put it ‘there’s not a small box out there in the either of success that you doing well somehow takes away from me’ so why not celebrate others successes?’ Often people are visibly surprised, certainly in NYC where competition for anything is fierce.

Excellent , This is what Hindu Rishis have been teaching Indians for ages, which made India a Top nation on earth. The day Indians forgot these values, came in Mughals and then British. Reestablishing oursrlfs in these values Modi retakes India to top and Pakistan has none of these, but blame is on Hindus and India for their devastating performance. America became super power because most Americans followed these values. These values are more valuable than diamonds
Hundreds of mispronounced words. Ai voice really pulls me out of the message and metaphors. Feels less like stoic principles and more like commercialized philosophy.
You ever deleted documents of people you abuse. Stolen property. Life insurance? Ever altered data or documents? Dont buy a house they will do these things. Its disgusting.
Thank you for this video. I myself am guilty of almost all those things but the worst for me is constantly seeking perfection in anything creative I do. Which is stopping me from doing anything creative in my life.
Point one is not black and white. For example the company I work for introduced a new policy I completely disagreed with. So I left and I'm much more happy at my new job
How does a stoic remain humble? it seems to me that in the search for mind resilience, many stoics may end up staying too long inside their own heads, overcoming their desire for validation and finding peace within themselves, but stoics are going to be eccentric no matter what, most people are going to find us different. How not to think of ourselves so much when it is this inner dialogue that keeps us healthy? How can we avoid being judgemental, when we see people being clearly unhappy doing what we used to do as non-stoics? More importantly, how can we teach others about stoicism without pushing it to the side of preaching? I find myself that one of the hardest battles is knowing how to balance things, and knowing what you are doing is a perk not a requirement. What are you guy's thoughts on this?
I find it unlikely that a human is narrating the video. There are too many mispronounced words a real human wouldn’t make even if the person didn’t have English as a second language.

But Im still on this cycle of slowly building up satisfaction and pride in myself Without the validation of a pretty girl, until that way of being attracts a pretty girl, and then I slowly start needing validation from the pretty girl Again… until I lose that validation and start the whole cycle again.
@kevinbeattie7297 Thank you for your honesty and introspection. It sounds like you've made progress, but the cycle of seeking external validation, especially in relationships, can indeed be challenging to break. Recently, i read about the need for humans to validate themselves.
@martinr2040
Martin, thank you for sharing such a profound and personal reflection.
Being a slave to my emotions and Living in the past are the two that I need to continue to work on, in this Stoic journey. Thank you for these videos!
@cainpork
Thank you for your honest reflection and for subscribing!
I know you think it's silly, but the 12 steps are helpful even for none addicts/alcoholics. It's stocism, and buddhism in a blander.
Same for me. Good luck brother.

Bro make videos and upload them , don't cry for likes and subscriptions before we even saw your video😂. You are letting things out of your help affect you , the great Marcus Aurelius would be so disappointed rn as you are so not stoic fam. You find yourself constantly checking for likes and subscribes ? You are falling into the trap of quantifying yourself on likes, don't validate yourself through likes on the videos. Happiness should come from within.
Dialing, why do these videos? Based on the Roman Empire and the Greek empire. We're not based than on Africa or the Middle East as well because there's plenty of excellent scholars in Africa and in the Middle East. Also oh, I'm in India, too.

Please remember to reach out to professionals or support groups if you ever feel the need.
ditto happning to me
@@stoicbondsometimes you have to allow yourself regular time to face the memories in order to internalize, and eventually move beyond them.
Do you feel that balancing these reflective moments with being present helps in your overall well-being? How do you usually navigate between cherishing past memories and staying present-focused? Your insights could provide a nuanced understanding for many in our community. Thanks for watching and engaging! 💭

A must-watch guide for anyone on the stoic path, offering invaluable insights to eliminate anti-stoic habits and find inner peace.
I find it unlikely that a human is narrating the video. There are too many mispronounced words a real human wouldn’t make even if the person didn’t have English as a second language.
