I hope your premium is paid up, LOL I’ve already contacted the families, looks like your railroad will be mine in the near future, ya might wanna start doing an O scale next. 😂 Ron
My apologies - couldn’t help but laugh out loud at your derailments, love the commentary. Glad the Intermountain car was not a write off. But I’ll admit, I’ve broken my fair share of couplers over the decades, but never have I sheered an axle!! 😂 As for a derailment, a 35 car RoadRailer makes a mess - one car derails, they ALL derail
@@EvanstonSubThere was a story in TRAINS magazine a couple of years ago or so about a Roadrailer train (Don't remember which railroad, but I was under the impression it was a western RR) that experienced a derailment of a single trailer, but the event only became known after the train had arrived safely at its destination. How? Somehow the trailer had bumped along the ballast at speed for quite some distance before re-railing itself either at a switch or a grade crossing.
To have so little damage at the helix with concrete as a landing pad is miraculous! I had a loco take a dive onto plush carpet once, and its body sustained a lot more damage than that. Don't let it happen again, get some guardrails installed.
@@EvanstonSub Nope! It’s N Scale, lower center of Gravity. The 2 Gevos probably outweighed the 3 EMDs. Broad curve on the flat. There were a few N Scale Bruises in the Gevos. All injuries too small to attend to… 😷🚑🏥
That's why we have PTC on the rails to prevent accidents like this. Going to have to launch an investigation to see why the crew was running on the mainline not using their PTC.
Nasty - how often have we had similar upsets? I've never had a wheelset break like that, but one of my Bachmann Branchline (UK prototypes) wheel sets caused a similar spectacular mess once. The wheelset had two metal wheels, separated by a plastic axle muff. The muff gave way at one end, axle broke and the breakdown gang had a mess to clear up.
Ouch Daryl, shows non of us are perfect, I have done that too, a few month ago was testing some track and forgot to switch one switch on a crossover, one set for main and other set to cross w/2 trains running in opposet directions and well you know the rest of the story LOL
Do you have checklist/criteria for when you bring a new car/locomotive onto the layout. What do you check prior to a piece of equipment being “blessed” to run on the layout? Many modelers have different things they check, wanted your take. Do you really shoot your vids on football Sundays?
@@EvanstonSub Now I am curious, has your new ho scale layout ever been shown in Model Railroader yet? Ik your n scale layout was shown many times already.
your comment is VERY close to real life... railroaders are subject to suspicionless drug testing... as recently as 1979, there was a CONRAIL case that made it all the way to the supreme court... the court ruled that railroads did not have to negotiate with unions prior to imposing mandatory employee drug testing
The plastic engineer died and I'm wondering who's going to provide for the plastic engineer's children - is there a Go Fund Me for them? We have to think of their education and their futures. Good thing is you can just divide the death toll by 87
Completely underrated comment I’m cracking up 😂
Works for me.

Thank goodness they don't run road trailers on the UPRR

Even your derailments are realistic!
I try😁
I advise to put foam squares on the floor especially under inside the helix to protect the falling cars.
I may just do that

Great idea! :)
I'll encourage you to do that too.

Been there! Human error is always a big factor especially when you are trying to railfan and run trains at the same time.
Yep
I rear ended a GEVO Consist sitting on the Mainline today, with a Local who ran out of Headroom while Switching a Customer Yard. 😮🙄
Ouch. anything hit the ground?

Prototypical strips of paper laced into grab irons (damaged corner) and new paint. Graffiti decals on few cars. Another good video again Daryl!!
Thanks!
Holy Molly Daryl, that’s one hell of a derailment! Hopefully you can fix the stuff that got mangled a bit.
Everything was fine except for the covered hopper that hit the floor.

All my locomotives have PTC anntenas, don't know what happened 😎
Sorry, what's PTC? We have Centralised Traffic Control over here in Limeyland - is that the same thing?
PTC is in addition to CTC. Basically, stops the train if the engineers make a mistake and put things in peril.
The hobo union approves of this video, and will be hopping a train at a layout near you..❤❤😊😊
Can't wait!
Get the pee cup ready!!! 😂
I did have a few beer in the train room that day.

I should, but nope.
Somebody is getting fired!
Yes
Great! Even your derailments are realistic, hahaha
Thanks! 😃
I thought that you were going to have the MOW crews there to make it look more authentic
Gotta get one first!
Trainmaster has been notified and is on the way.
Its 3am and hes not happy. :)
Me either :)
Thise signals don't stop the trains!!? Can you set them up that way?
You can, I have not as of yet
Are the shareholders ok? Lol
They are a little shook up, but ok😑
I thought that only happen to me, don’t feel so bad now when happens to the mentors👍🇦🇺
So true
I mean it would be interesting to see you model a few wreck cars
Definitely planning on adding them. There are quite a few of them scattered about. I also wat to add some snow fences.
@@EvanstonSub Now I am curious, has your new ho scale layout ever been shown in Model Railroader yet? Ik your n scale layout was shown many times already.
I used canopy glue to repaire broken parts on my cars.take care for derails
I'll need to try that.
@@EvanstonSub I had that info from Athearn
it dries very clean with no mark or trace
You got to bring out the clean-up crew 👍
You got that right!
You did not show when your arranged the 'derailed' freight cars..
I'll have to make sure I do that next time. Hopefully there will not be a next time for a while.
What brand do you buy your locomotives from
Mostly scaletrains.com and athearn.
How long must we wait for the official NTSB report?
It's in the mail.
@@EvanstonSub Thanks, for the quick reply. I hope you're all back in action, and enjoying a really spectacular layout.
Looked some of the real things that happen on the real rail but ar least only one car looked damaged and no lose of live this time 😮

I always enjoy your videos👍
I appreciate that!
Good thing it was not live.

Great video
Thanks for the visit
Oh lord soon as one comes off the track more follow and my hoppers love to derail on the switch
Short hoppers need some weight.
Ouch..... I thought you were gonna put plexi glass on the helix? It could've been for worse 😢😊. - Gary
I was more concerned about cars stringlining and fall into the middle. Actually need more protection on the outside.
So was hulcher called in for cleanup
What's a hulcher?
They clean up derailment and fix track and such
Incredible.
thanks!
Hmmm... perhaps a breathalyzer test should be required before operating the railroad! 😁
I did have a beer.

So far all i have had happen is a locomotive or a car jump the tracks a little.
Nice!
KCS hopper on the ground!?! I'll send 07 BIG hook! KCS 250 ton crane!
That would be so cool.
30 days off pending investigation. Hopefully there wasn't anyone on the officer's train.
