These Hydrastar Electric Hydraulic Brake Controller Actuators are incredibly Popular in the USA America and Australia and many other parts of the world such as South Africa, Mexico and Canada. Anywhere where Towing Large Heavy Trailers, Caravans, Boats and RV's and Genral Purpose Heavy Duty Trailers including Tradesman Job Site Trailers and Tool Carrying Box Trailers, Moving Trailers and heavy vehicle haulage trailers over 4000 lbs (2000 kgs) in parts of the World.
The Main Components that fail in these HYDRASTAR Electric Hydraulic Brake Controllers are the
Electric Motor
The Electronic Circuit Control Board
Trailer Brake-Away Switch
Wiring Faults
Pressure Relief / Regulation Solenoid
Often times the Motor or the Electronic Circuit Board will Fail if the Gasket Leaks and allows Hydraulic Fluid from the top chamber to seep and leak down into the bottom compartments where the Electronic Circuit Board for HYDRASTAR Brake Controller is situated, along with the Electric Motor which could also ingress with Hydraulic Fluid or Water
Sometimes ... as in the case with this Hydrastar Brake Actuator the MOTOR HAD SIEZED due to TOO MUCH PRESSURE BUILD up in the Hydraulic Lines, causing an OVER-PRESSURE situation in the pipes and lines system within the Brake Controller and thus the Electric Motor could no longer Turn. It was trying to turn but the pressure build up was causing HYDRAULIC LOCK in the system and the motor seized up. We removed the electric motor and HYDRAULIC LINES to relieve the pressure
The Motor Started Spinning Freeley again when power was applied and Hydraulic Fluid squirted out the outlet pipe when the BLOCKAGE was cleared out of the Hydraulic Line Connection at the back of the Hydrastar Brake Control unit. We also relieved the excess pressure and AIR BUBBLES by Bleeding the system via the Bleeder Valve at the top of the Hydrastar Pump
