Local Vol sports guys yesterday discussing Vol's poor performance in hostile venues over the past few seasons. They discussed UKroger and USCe as "loud" but they then noted the different level of crowd disruption at UF, how the Swamp puts the fans so much closer to the field, and the angles put the noise on top of the players, and the fans know "how" to make noise (throughout the period between plays, etc. Made me proud of our 12th Man!

What a Luxury it is to have a good defense
Another great set of videos. I wish all the mouthpieces on YT would watch and see what actually happened. Watching the films last week and seeing how ave UT looked with AP gave me the confidence to predict beating UT. Gators should start SEC play 3-0.
Never comment but love watching your breakdown. This defense is well coached and plays together. Now if only the O can roll....

Top 10 defense after 3 games! I love it. We have had some bad defenses for years. Last time our defense was great was muschamp. Well it was one year under Jim
I'm not as knowledgeable as you are about all this, but I did notice it looked like we were doing a lot better this year at forcing the plays towards help. Watching you cover this stuff has taught me some things to look for. I've been very surprised at how much better they look this year. They're so young too. Many of them are first or second year players.

On the second drive one thing you didn't mention that's also great to see is on back to back plays where Castels misses a tackle then Scooby can't quite get there, you have D linemen on both plays making tackles in perfect pursuit. Pyburn on the 2nd and McClellan on the first.
Anyone could see the in the first two games that the defense was MUCH better positioned. I thought if we held UT to under 30 it would be a good showing. Instead, we dominated them. Armstrong is a great coach, mostly because he can connect with his players. That is evident by how cohesive the defense has looked, how they play up to his expectations and demands. And it's every single player. Fantastic. Can't help but think that he might make Billy better as Napier tries to coach against him everyday. That could be an iron sharpens iron scenario for us. Great breakdown as usual. A must watch every week!
Billy needs to hire James as an analyst. Might have to calm that hair down a little though. The wave gets higher each season😂

Castell and Filsaime going to be the best Safety Duo in the country. If MM wasn't afraid of tackling, it would raise this Ds ceiling through the ceiling.
I watched every down of the Tennessee v Austin Peay game last week. I’m interested in your opinion of Armstrong using the blueprint left by the defenses UGA (2022) and Austin Peay (2023).
He largely followed what UGA did, along with Pitt, and some of his own flare.

We also basically switched out the personnel from last year and are way bigger and more physical, especially at DT. Think this should at least get a mention.
If the tactics from this year to last year were exactly the same, that would have gotten a signifcant mention. As it stands now, how the defense played as a unit was the most noteworthy, but certainly the D line had a phenomenal day.
3rd 7 play was holding on Tennessee never saw that before but that should have been called back.
I'm surprised Tennessee didn't run Milton more with the light box. Mullen would have run that all game

28:41 is an illegal formation. The either 2 rec are covered up making it an illegal man down field or the 2 rec inside are off the line making to many in the backfield. Should have been a flag thrown. Still a pic, but illegal formation.
James’ hair is so big because it’s full of flag football trick plays.

@@ClhCgu45 If he keeps up the good work, I think we need to resign ourselves to the fact he will only be around for 2-3 years. Either a head coaching job will come calling or I think he would take the Alabama DC job since it's practically his hometown and dream job.
@@nicsievers4387 Yeah I personally don't think he'll leave unless it's a power 5 hc job or a high-end alabama job but that is not too far from the distant future if he keeps coaching this way
I’ve been trying to tell everybody #3 Jason Marshall was getting cooked all night long and is overrated
Hes been dissapointing so far without question.
I don't think Armstrong would have done much better with last year's defense. We were able to win run downs -2 in the box because of WAY better DT personnel, not because of "alignment football".
Right Personnel + right tactics = best chance for success. You can't have one without the other.
