- Vice President Kamala Harris gave the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention on Friday. Harris accepted the Democratic presidential nomination a day after her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, accepted the vice presidential nomination. Harris is the first woman of color or first Black and South Asian woman to be nominated for president by a major party.

As someone from the world outside of us, I can say we all are rooting for her here. Trump is a disaster for the country and the world
I have news for those of you who can’t see the light through the smoke. In this here country if you grow up among the working class, a Mayflower moving truck does not pull up to your house to move you. You have to have money for that scenario. This woman lived a privileged affluent life growing up. She needed for nothing. Don’t let her fool you into believing she was part of the working middle class so that she can identify with those that are truly the working middle class. Her mom was a PHD scientist and her dad was a prominent professor at Stanford. She knows nothing about the middle class working people or union workers. Open your eyes people….. Her parents combined made an equivalent to close to a million dollars a year back in the 70’s and 80’s. Does this sound like someone who knows ANYTHING about the working middle class or union workers???
Scientist and university professors aren’t inherently rich. You don’t know what her family is making. The middle class ranged from 50,000-150,000 a year. This doesn’t even account for how that money is split amongst the families needs. She could’ve definitely grown up in the middle class.

People with Ph.D.s definitely aren't typical of the "working middle class," but they tend not to be particularly well-paid. I took a job as a high school teacher after I got my Ph.D. and started with a higher salary than I would have as a professor at a university.
If she wanted a secure border, she could’ve passed whatever bills she wanted to just two years ago when the Democrats had the majority on both the house and Senate. Her bill will ensure that immigrants can vote.

Now Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are also for “no tax on tips” for waiters, bartenders and service people, after Trump made that a campaign promise weeks before they did. Now Kamala Harris is all for fracking, but for the past 6+ years, she was totally against fracking and said if elected she’d ban it. President Trump was building the wall to keep out the illegals but as soon as Biden/Harris took office they stopped building the wall and let in over 10 million illegals that US taxpayers are funding. Harris was indeed far less charismatic in 2020 than she is now, and I wasn't surprised that she failed to become a favorite ahead of the primary. Personally, I was far more excited by Warren (for her policies) and Buttigieg (for his charisma and intelligence). The excitement among Democrats comes largely from being able to watch a newly charismatic candidate arise and no longer be trapped in a race between a declining old man and an irascible, irresponsible, unpredictable old man. I live in Arizona, and I actually voted for a man I'd never heard of in the Democratic primary, simply because he was on the ballot, and I watched a video where he seemed competent. I think Biden's done a decent job, but he's also 81, and I didn't want to just vote for him because he's the president. And like most other Democrats, the fact that Trump inspired a violent mob to break into the Capitol and interfere with the Constitutional process seems like the most obvious disqualification for the presidency in the world. I didn't care for him beforehand, but I have trouble understanding how anyone could support him now.
Add to this the fact that Harris over-performed many of our expectations immediately after Biden endorsed her. There was a collective relief at the thought, "Oh; we can actually start doing this now, rather than waiting for the convention."
But your point is valid to a degree: We're not excited by anything Harris has done in the past 3.5 years. We're excited by the energy and charisma she's suddenly brought to the presidential race.

Yeah that's a really bad story from her past - probably the worst skeleton in her closet. Also, her entire portion on foreign policy and Israel was horrendous, signaling that she has no real drive to stop the conflict in the Middle East (otherwise they'd just stop shipping weapons). Why is Kamala Harris hiding when it comes to 'live' debates? What I find troublesome with Kamala Harris, is that she doesn't go live in debate with Trump. I mean more than one so we can see who she really is. Because let's face it, who is she really? For me as a voter, this is the only way to gauge whether she really has the qualities and competencies as a world number one leader. Now she keeps staying away from this I think, but in past elections it was completely normal to do these tv debates several times. What is the problem is my concern? Both don't know the questions beforehand, just pure debate and see how competent they really are. This is also how Biden's true competence was revealed

Prices went up globally, America's economic growth after the pandemic outpaced that of every Western nation. Crime is down since under Trump. Immigration they tried to fix, Trump blocked it.
