HammerTone Fuzz at Thomann - thmn.to/thocf/jr2n2y50d3 HammerTone Fuzz at Sweetwater - imp.i114863.net/YgmemP These budget minded pedals are pretty sweet. The fuzz is certainly a favourite of mine.
Octavio. I bought this pedal today on my lunch break without ever trying or hearing it. I just needed an Octave fuzz so i bought what was cheap. This video is being watched by me before even trying it out. Great video, I subscribed
I left a comment a couple weeks ago and now here is another one after playing my pedal. I find with this pedal Fuzz only is good with chords but Octave makes the chords just sound mostly like noise, and the opposite goes for individual notes. Playing purple haze as an Octave fuzz sounds great during the leads and solo and shit during the rhythm. So I'm basically back to square 1 which is Fuzz pedal, kick on the Octave mode on my whammy pedal as needed because I ain't bending down to flick that little switch here and there in the middle of a song haha. I'm only half way through this video as I'm writing this comment, i can't remember if you point this out later in the video because i don't remember what every TH-camr says verbatim of every single video i watch all the time. But I tell you this.. I will finish watching this video for a second time, and I will just write Octavia right now because i remember that that is the word and I don't want to write another comment at the end haha
Fuzz pedals are the most unique pedals out there, but also the most complex to work with. because typically most Fuzz pedals don't sound very good on there own, the Big Muff is the one exception, but even then they wouldn't be a good fit for a beginner. however once you figure out how to work with them, you can come up with some really cool tones you can't get with other pedals. Fuzz pedals are interesting, but they all offer different sounds, you have to find the one that works best for you.
Gilmore would use a rat into a rams head. Personally I love Fuzz into phaser and chorus. Add reverb and or delay to make a fuzz more creamy. Using an EQ after the fuzz can help shape the tone. Most fuzz pedals cut mids and you can add them back with an EQ. Also what kind of pickups and what position changes the tone immensely. I have a V7D black russian and the rams head reissue. They're very different fuzzes. I keep the russian at home to use with bass and record. I have the rams head on my board.
Just bought this OCTAVIO from Klangfarbe 30 min ago. I play through a Katana MK2 and this should get me that Rival Sons/Black Keys Fuzz we all know and love. Great review and take care. Love from Wien
Andy, You get some really good tones out of the Hammertone Fuzz. Would you consider a comparison with competing fuzz pedals like the JHZ fuzz or Maestro FZ? That would be really cool
"Octavio" .... It is a good offering by Fender. Perhaps it would of been better without the octave switch or given a better octave circuit maybe...idk. I contemplated getting a dedicated fuzz pedal at one time or another but ultimately I did not as the music I cover and the originals i do really do not require much if any fuzzy wuzzy.
I thought that the octave sounded a bit starved, like it needed more input to get it going. Would have been interesting to hear it with powerchords through humbuckers too. Thanks for the in-depth review, Andy, better than most I've seen. Octavio!
Do i need another fuzz pedal ? Well, "need" isn't really the right word....😃 I would have liked to have heard a few Sabbathy riffs and chugs but nice demo clip 🙂👍
Had this pedal for two months and it’s just not useable for me. I run a few different tube amps and no matter what amp I use at any setting it’s not loud enough to keep up with my band and it’s way over compressed no matter what. My big muff is just barely over half volume and has plenty of room to push further. Also, doesn’t clean up any better than a big muff (big bummer) and the octave isn’t strong enough. Running power chords was not satisfying it just doesn’t have the sound you want. Got a wampler velvet fuzz and I will never look back.
Too bad I don't have a guitar with decent single coils. I have a Squier mini-Strat, but those pups are wicked noisy. I'd love to hear how that pedal sounds with a set of hot P90s.
I was undecided for a while but I ended up buying one online today. I had the Pelt from fender’s 2018 line and I am still kicking myself for selling it. Hoping this pedal will scratch the fuzz itch I still have. Worth a try for $80-
I'm not really a fuzz fan, but I'm looking forward to hearing the other pedals in the range. Thanks for all the quality reviews. Yours sincerely, Octavio
To me fuzz always sounds like you’ve just turned up the gain on the amp way too much on accident. I rarely like these tones but maybe someday I will get into the whole Octavio thing. 😉 Maybe I have the wrong amp. I usually use Vox style.
I have a VOX AC4TVH “on the edge of breakup” and it loves fuzz. I also love running my fuzz INTO a Big Muff (Black Russian) and having the trem bar find specific pitches within the harmonic chaos. If you have a Jaguar, roll back the tone knob on the rhythm circuit and give it a try :)
@@TheGuitarGeek VoxAV30 (yes it’s a V and not a C 😆) and I’ve also tried it with a Fender Blues Jr The Vox gets a great edge of break up tone on its own but I still don’t end up turning on my fuzz very much of the time. I have a Rat and TC Rusty Fuzz.
@@kentlaframboise don’t have a Jaguar but I have a strat and tele. I really like the sound of stacked overdrives on the neck pickup. It gets me what I want. But an actual fuzz pedal just seems waaay too much in my bedroom 😂
Hehe i subscribed at 666 videos on the channel lol. This is one of a few fuzzes i want. The waza, if 6 was 9, and the 3 series jhs too. Theres more of course. I dont know why i want the jhs. Just gnarly as all hale i guess. Octaaavioooo
Big fuzz fan- I've been waiting for months for even a listen to this box. - meh. "Next!" 🤘💥🤣 ( that being said, I'll probably add one to my collection down the road when CL is loaded with used ones, or when they blow them out the door on Black Friday)
I love all the Hammertone pedals. Except this. But I hate all fuzz pedals. Why do ppl wanna sound like this? Absolutely the worst guitar tone you could ever have.

Huge fuzz fan here, and I very much appreciate you showing this into different amps (including solid sate-super important for electric violinists!)
Also, Octaaaavio 🙂 I think I like the octave!

As you know I'm not an Octavio for fuzz, but I do like this one. :) it's not too broken, very nice. And the purple as a Hendrix tribute!

I'm deciding on this pedal, thanks for the review! 👍🎸👍
You are welcome! Hope you make some good noise with it

Love! Enjoy that nasty fuzz

This sounds great but I would recommend that prospective buyers first check out the MXR Poly Blue Octave. It's an absolute monster.
Damn, came here to check cheap pedal and now I have to buy mxr poly blue... 🙄
Great video, bro! The pedal sounds really good, I am fuzz lover, love that crazy Octave ON tone! Heavy Dunlop Octavio inspired to my ears :)
Cheers! I think there’s fun to be had for the price

All hail Octavio. Quick question, how well does it clean up when rolling back the guitar volume.

Love that octave craziness, sounds suitably lunatic. Octaviiooooo
Sounds great - looking forward to trying one out myself - Octavio!!
Love the spluttery tone as it reminded me of mudhoney.
I can't believe it's this affordable. But my biggest concern is what mic are you using for your vocals? It's incredible 😍
Awesome versatility. Im buying one 💪

After playing this pedal for a few hours I didn’t get that impression at all of anything more cut. Playing out of a strat and deluxe reverb
Well, I've just bought one so.... good review!!
HOLY GUACAMOLY! that is an instant buy
You need to do a bass demo on these pedals??????

Octavio, great Vid andy
I'll finish your sentence. Without the octive switch it's the new Hello Kitty Fuzz pedal 🤓
Octavio, I loved the sound with the Deluxe Reverb.
It's a lot brighter. Wish I had used that amp more
That was a right on black keys tone in the intro
Octavio!!😂Thanks for the great vid! Super informative and think I will add one of these bad boys to my arsenal.
I've always wondered if this is a Fender blender minus the blend knob and with a octave switch
Octaviooooo my goodness I wonder how much e try cost it’s these pedals has been added by the enclosure.

Undecided. Good price though. Octavio
