A speedy recovery to you! Thanks for sharing the tips. I really like how you’re using a real bummer of a personal journey to help pave the way for others that will inevitably follow, all while keeping a great sense of humor and positive outlook. You’re a great inspiration to me and a lot of other people.
Becky, long time listener, first time comment, this caught my eye as my wife has been having arthritic problems with her knee for 2 years, her quality of life has plummeted so I can feel your pain and frustration. Blessings for your recovery! BTW, I’ve been doing the “Thumb, I’m Steve” since 1977… a buddy of mine found you on TH-cam and told me, this gal does your thumb thing! I told him I learned it from you…
That 10mm socket joke cracked me up. I laughed very well out loud. Loved it. I think it’s a great mechanic joke but it might go over an anesthesiologist’s head. Your shower looks eerily similar to mine except the floor pattern is different. Can’t imagine going through so many surgeries and keeping a great sense of humor. Hope your recovery goes well and you’ll be up and running soon.
Best of luck with the surgery. I love the crutch clips! I need to make some for myself. The first part of the video made me so grateful to be in the UK, I had over 10 surgeries on my legs and haven't paid a penny
Some advice I can add for anyone else (especially if it's your first time) is to learn to use crutches beforehand. It's always easier to learn new things when you're not dealing with possible pain and other things that could affect you.
Becky, On the 23rd I go in for a total knee replacement surgery on my right knee. The left one was dome about 6 years ago. I agree with everything you said about preparing the house for pust surgery. I would also include that it is VERY important to do the PT after you get home. Get well quickly!
"If you find my 10 mm socket I'm gonna need that back" is a fantastic joke! I legit Lol'd at it. The 10 mm socket and the 1/8in drill bit are impossible to keep around, the only solution is to just meet yourself where you're at and buy them in bulk. Wishing you a quick recovery!!
I’m icing my knee right now! Im also post surgery - 6 weeks out and I’m about 90% recovered. Scar tissue is still present but I’m working on it… hope for a speedy recovery!
These were fantastic tips! Thank you! I'm really sorry that you have chronic knee issues. I'm able to commiserate, as I do, as well. I hope that your surgery goes well, and you're on the road to recovery quickly.
I think you're just a few years younger than me; I very much understand these things that creep into your later life. I, too, now get to consider things like how to get around and adjusting to a new way of existing. My super-awesome moon boot and I both wish you convenience and accommodation.
Hey Becky! Wanna be knee recovery buddies? I’m 10 days into recovery from knee replacement surgery. I heartily agree with the cold therapy machine recommendation. Been a lifesaver so far. I love the crutch clips and would print some if I could get to my printer (downstairs), so they’ll have to wait a couple more weeks. Speedy recovery Becky!
Losing 10mm sockets is such a cliché. When I had my big surgery I was responsible for adjusting a 3/8" nut four times a day and somehow I didn't lose the wrench.
As someone who had the pleasure of falling down the stairs last winter, i think that if i were to have been able to plan ahead for that eventuality, and the subsequent need to walk with crutches for a while, i would have snuck in some extra arm muscle exercises beforehand. Getting used to using those muscles a little more than usual was rough :)
For the scar, get some really good Castor Oil from Queen of Thrones. I had TKR this past November, did my p/t and used the Castor Oil once my doc said it was good to use and my scar is barely there. It works great!
Thanks! I'm using silicone scar sheets and biocorneum cream. I'm dealing with an incision that's been cut open three times, but the few new smaller ones have hope!
My friend is getting knee surgery soon from a motorcycle accident (my understanding is it was minor but still needs correction)... Sending her this lol 💙

Surgery sucks, been there done that (all abdominal stuff). 🤕 Glad your recovery seems to be going well. 🤗🤗
Hope you have a speedy recovery. And the Dr really did put some fine looking stitches on that knee 🙂
Nebula is great. Big fan of the Jet Lag show.
tyvm for noting you're on nebula off the top, i watch on one or the other, and a lot of creators forget we're unlikely to watch the same vid 2x

Oof. As a fellow member of the Subluxing Patella Gang, I wish you a speedy recovery and agree that knees are real dumb.
Now I can't stop thinking about what our gang's signs and activities are 😆
@@BeckyStern if there is a sign that means "person inexplicably crumpled on floor yet again" that I think that's it 🥲
@BeckySternyes

Don't try DIY knee surgery , why was this not a tip? All the best for a speedy recovery Becky
So sorry, lady, yer way too young for this crap. I'm 60 with similar joys, but yer in the best medical area & most expensive, too. Best luck to ya....
