0:24 Apparently one of the Wilderness Years novels referenced it as being a 7th Doctor dream (or more likely nightmare).

I remember being very pleased with it at the time, although I had not been an avid fan since the Pertwee/Baker years, I still passively supported the continued adventures of the time lord, I felt DIT was a fun tribute and it felt like the Doctor possibly had a future

Thank you for coming back. You have great content. Sorry you have been burned out. I have been so disappointed in the newest content that getting excited is difficult too. This story is AWFUL. But I would plop it on my phone over some of the newest stuff. I think it is the last time Pertwee would do it. I like how he tells Victoria that he is getting too old for this sort of thing and Victoria does her best impression of herself. I do like the odd spot with Romana and more McCoy with K9! OMG.... Do I really like this?!

"Throw a Dartboard at a random Dr. Who companion" - That had me laughing so hard :D

When new BBC 'Doctor Who' content was coming round with all the regularity of the Olympic Games, you were definitely grateful for anything you got. 'Dimensions In Time' most certainly tested that concept to the extreme. It gave me "my" Doctor, Jon Pertwee, one final time. So that forgives a great many sins. Admittedly, there are a great many to forgive.

Please continue this series! I’d love a video on Scream of the Shalka and other similar weird Doctor Who stuff / things released whilst the main show was off air

Another thing you can talk about in this series are the Reeltime stories, made I think between late 80s and early 2000s, such as Downtime and Wartime

I always wanted to watch a video where Wingy talked about and reviewed Dimensions in Time. Cheers Wingy.

All I can say, is it's better than *(I am sorry to bring up Bad Memories)* The Star Wars Holiday Special!!!

Are you going to do other 90's, spin-off stuff like Downtime or those Liz Shaw Probe stories.

Is it a mess? yes. Is it an embarrassment? yes. Is it fun to watch? yes. So, the original idea for the 30th was a direct to video film entitled The Dark Dimension, written by Adrian Riglesford, featuring a unregenerated 4th Doctor. Other Doctor's were relegated to bit parts, which they were apparently unhappy with. Eventually though the project was abandoned in July 1993. The two main reasons for this seem to be because negotiations for what would become the 96 TV movie was currently taking place & Philip Segal felt TDD was too ambition for the budget given & that overall, it could affect any project he was trying to get started. Secondly JNT was asked to be a consultant on TDD and he to thought it was unworkable and refused to have anything to do with it. A shame in one way as it did sound interesting & would have featured a version of one of my favourite companions, an archaeologist named Summerfield but then given Riglesford's later controversaries maybe not.
With TDD shelved there was nothing really in place for the 30th anniversary so JNT was asked to come up with something for Children in Need. Thus amiss this chaos and short amount of time we got DIT. There is a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff that didn't help but I'm not going to go into all that. That Noel Edmunds asked for two minutes to be cut from the second episode (shown during Noel's House Party the following night) probably didn't help a mess of a story trying to cram 5 Doctor's and a host of Companions, monsters and Eastender cameos into a 16 minute piece. But as a short piece for charity with the basis that it would only be shown once on TV and as an BBC experiment with 3D it does the job.
I think underneath it all there is what could have been a goodish story if expanded. Ultimately though, as a fan of the New Adventure novels I go with the idea put forth in First Frontier that this is a nightmare dream that the 7th Doctor had.
Also the Daleks don't appear in this, A scene was shot with a Dalek and a Dalek trooper but Terry Nation's agents instructed they be cut.

I literally go through the same phase when I start from 1963 and go all the way through it including spoofs and spin offs. I have a phase where I’m like no I don’t wanna watch it

I think the BBC themselves would agree with you on Dimensions In Time being an embarrassment as they have tried their best to bury this for years. Clever Dick Films also covered this in his Wilderness Years video and absolutely ripped it to shreds. Go check out his video reviews, they're great.

This is basically the Star Wars holiday special of Doctor Who, only aired once, never released on home media, and hated by virtually everyone. Should remain buried. Sole positive is it made money for children in need.
And to think THIS was the final time we saw Victoria Waterfield and Jon Pertwee on screen.

What most younger fans will never be able to truly understand about DIT is how we contemporary fans felt when it came about. You think eight months between seasons, or one festive episode per year is a shit deal? Try four years with nothing plus nothing new on the horizon! We were smack bang in the middle of the so-called “wilderness years”. As Wingy acknowledges, it had been four years since the last new episodes. Fans all over the world were pulling out all stops to get the show back. We didn’t know 1996 was going to happen. We didn’t know 2005 was going to happen. We didn’t have the benefit of decades of technological advances that have resulted in the Doctor Who of today. We had none of that foresight and no guarantee that anything was ever going to happen. So any new Doctor Who on actual TV with truckloads of actual actors from the show was fucking amazing! Did loads of fans dislike it even at the time? Yep. But did anyone ever actually take it seriously? Did anyone ever actually think that it *wasn’t* a mess? Did anyone actually believe it was canonical and needed to be anything other than a silly nostalgic romp, created to celebrate 30 years of a British (even if essentially cancelled) institution? Of course we didn't! There’s no point overanalysing DIT coz, let’s face it, it *is* a mess and there’s no guts to it, so there’s nothing to analyse. It never made sense because it was never supposed to. But fuck me, it felt amazing to see it on the tele at the time! 😁

Love that people even feel the need to address canon, either as "it doesn't exist" or as "no this isn't canon".
DW canon is fucking meaningless, it's a joke. I won't say there isn't one, but it's absolutely down to individual perspective and preference and changes considerably every week. It's a totally worthless canon.
I mean hell, new who for the vast majority of it's run doesn't even resemble classic who at all. What's the point in a "canon" between them?
But yes DiT is pretty wank, albeit so harmless I'd be amazed that anyone could get mad at it. If it were a full length episode that tried to pretend it had a real important story, yeah I'd probably hate it a little. (that's Day of the Doctor) But as a 20 minute bit of fluff that was never gonna matter at all beyond being a brief bit of live action Who in a time where that wasn't around? Whatever. It's there and that's all it is (and all it needed to be, even if I'd have preferred a proper story).

It was children in need not comic relief, the 3D was interesting, based on movement, the glasses were tinted to let light in quicker in one eye and slower the other.

One of the oddest things in Dimensions in Time is that it's a 'Comic Relief' special, but it's not even a little bit funny. It's utterly humourless. There's not a trace of lightness.

Do the Genesis LP, an album of Genesis of the Daleks - not an album by yer actual Genesis. IMO the best version. Ends with daleks screaming, Tom is engaged with the narration and no clams.

It's an utter suck show, comprising all the worst excesses of JNT's tenure in a grisly, gaudy, end-of-the-pier turd.
