At the time Big Hit had given the whole group a 3 month hiatus. They all went separate directions. But Hobi went to L.A. by himself for the first time. When Hobi decided to do the song, not only did he ask permission to use the song, he paid about 3 million U.S. dollars to the original artists. And all proceeds that came from this version went straight to the original artists. Which by the way is WebStar and Young B. (Bianca/who is now on the Housewives of Atlanta.) Hobi had said that when he started taking lessons for dancing, this was the first dance he learned. Funny thing is, a cross the world in L.A. around the same time Becky G. was doing the same thing. Taking dance lessons and this was also her first dance she learned. That is why she was a perfect fit. So we had two ppl from two different parts of the world bonding over one song. This was filmed in L.A., off the 10 freeway, in the industrial area. The first Monster Truck was real, and I believe the 2nd was CGI'ed in when they dropped it. The low riders were real. In the k pop industry they do have a tendency to do a lot of cultural appropriation. However, during a vitual fan sign, a fan explained the significance of the box braids in which Lisa and a couple of her dancers had worn during the video.
