I remember the dover lock pub from many years ago circa 1980 ,,, it was a lovley pub (very sad to see it like this now) it had a good atmosphere and good food,,, it was very popular for summer eve meals just before sunset as it gets great late eve sun on the side opposite the canal ,,, the landlord had a number of outside tables on that side Many moons ago when the canal water was very clean ,,, local kids would swim in the canal in summer and even jump off the road bridge (bridge number 4) into the canal ,,, presumably mum n dad was in the pub?
