It's a well-designed item in that it's game breaking in some cases and complete shit in others. With high tears or piercing shot you want it, with low tears or ipecac it can be impossible to use against bosses like Mom's Heart.

@ 31 minutes: The D1 does not duplicate item pedestals. THAT is why it doesn't duplicate chests on the Chest or Dark Room floors. The Empty chests on the Chest floor are item pedestals, not empty chests.

Athame is arguably better than Black Powder because it interacts with more items. For example Athame + Dull Razor = on-demand laser ring every 2 rooms, Athame + IV Bag = money + damage + maybe black hearts whenever you want, Athame + Razor Blade = damage + damage ring, etc.
the ppl who say he should not take items cause they appear to often, not zany,boring or make the runs to easy are just dumb if he wants to use a item that is good and he likes he should just do it, if u don't like the item it is fine but do not force your opinion on him to not take them
honestly, the only bad thing about eve's mascara imo is the fact that it lowers your shot speed SOO much, the tears downgrade isnt that bad but the fact that it gives you a severe shot speed downgrade is what makes it seem bad
Someone should make a passive item that makes it so that active items that deal damage to you (like razorblade or kamikaze) get changed into passives that activate on touch when picked up. It would make some items much more useful

I think it might be less points once you're at the cap, which could make it a point deficit. Not sure. Consumables being part of the score always seemed like a dumb part of daily scoring to me.
Only people who dislike Mom's Knife, Brimstone, Tech X, etc. are the people who get only Range ups and get hit from a red fire on basement 2 and then quit the game. So they go hate on lucky people.

Ugh Mom's Heart with ipecac shielded tears. I learned that lesson quickly
