This scene is so interesting because Sanji is one of the most heavily effected by the changes the island brings to people. He doesn't feed Zoro, something Sanji would never, ever resort to normally. He blames Luffy, something he'd never do normally. But he still has enough of his mind to challenge the baron with Zoro about their friends
The island didn’t have magical effects sanji was just written more realistically and aggressively. Their personalities are hardened and less silly than the anime.
@@matthewjohnson3302From what happened with Nami hitting Ussop without being a comic gag, it makes it clear that there is something strange on that island, it is seen that the writer knew the characters well and made them do things that normally they would never do, thus achieving an uncanny atmosphere
@@cweditor2732 I believe it was not just the island itself but also the lily carnation causing these strange effects towards the island/people. Notice how in the end of the movie when everything is resolved and the carnation is gone the island takes on a lighter tone and the straw hats seem no longer under the influence of aggression or abnormal behavior.
Ironically that’s what sets it apart as great. They are out of character but in return they have MORE character. They have more of a realistic reaction for adults with their lives on the line. And there’s more nuance in their behavior and dialogue. They don’t just say the predictable lines you would expect. Every scene I was wondering what this version of the SH would say and do next and that was really cool.
I think it makes sense they'd split apart like that if this arc existed in the original manga tbh, if this happened after the Enies Lobby arc it wouldn't make sense but it was before that so it does
I think what holds the movie back from being truly great is how out of character the Straw Hats were. Nami getting mad at Usopp over what was obviously a trap and paying no mind at the fact the he saved the day along with Sanji giving Luffy shit when they’ve been through way worse under his watch than characters going missing.

The line where Sanji blames Luffy for everything really sticks with me. And I’ve only watched the film recently. In a way, it shapes the way I see these characters even if it is a Non-Canon film.
@@memebrain2177 they did the exact opposite. the argument between luffy and usopp was very personal, and both were immature. in spite of that, all of the crew got together, usopp included, the moment they heard that robin was in danger.
No, it really isn't . Luffy is utterly failing as a captain, of course he would be angry with him. Not to mention, Zoro failing to even help Sanji like a decent person
This movie is so dark and really bad. I am a huge fan of One Piece. But this movie is completely different from what I know. Luffy, zoro, sanji, nami, ussop, etc.. It's completely different. After watching this movie, I have a bad feeling and get psycho . The characters are not at all different from the series.. I don't want to recommend this movie, this's not One Piece beacuse it's Two Piece

The film implies that their reactions are not normal and have to do with something external affecting them.

@amr nah. The movie was simpli not written by oda.

Out of character for sanji
He’s going insane like everyone else
That’s the point lmao
