The Evolution system is so interesting to me to see so many games using it in interesting ways. Oceans is by far my favorite and it doesn't look like this one is rivaling that (for my play tastes). Seems pretty brutal and intense here to be honest! More forgiving than other games in some areas (no starvation) but really focused on encouraging negative player interaction.
Thanks for the play! Looks fun, but I just backed Mindbug Beyond, with the all in feature, since I missed the Base Game Kickstarter and that set me back a little I definitely dig the artwork and the free sleeves in the first 48 hours of backing is a definite home run Incentive to get this game!
"Let's make a bunch of awesome creatures illustrations but we won't show them on the board, instead we will show the back of the deck with the same animal over and over"
I still think Climate and Oceans are better (I think Oceans is probably the best but not enough of an improvement over Climate for me to get it over the one I have). Overall I've not been super impressed with the constant remixing of the game. Also, for me at least, the fact that the game well models actual evolution is one of it's selling points, so switching to a fantasy theme gets rid of one of the things I like most about the game.
The original Evolution is a game I enjoyed playing with my kids when they were pre-teens. Animal theme, interesting gameplay, but not too complex. I got an expansion or two, but as typically with expansions, they add a tad of variety but mostly additional mechanics. They weren't really worth it, but they were okay. The theme here seems a stretch, and unnecessary. I guess I wouldn't say no if someone asked me to play but this does not interest me at all.

Thanks Jon for the video!
I think you can turn the lizard upside down to layer the new traits so they are visible
Was think that exact same thing lol
Thanks for the video

40:43 should the orange get another crystal right now because of the Charming before using the Caring to move the crystal?

Do multiple attack cards on the same creature trgigger toxic multiple times? Must all of the attack cards on your creature the rule same target?
I think toxic would only activate once. You can't split up the attack to different targets.
41:00 shouldn’t Orange’s 3rd creature also activate it’s ability because it chains off the first one’s?
Charming only activates when the energy is taken from the source, not from attacks.
40:30 You forgot to activate orange player's charming trait :D
Nvm, just realized charming is applicable only if Energy was taken from Source
