      Thank Prince for that! He bothered Tipper Gore so much with the lyrics to his song Darling Nikki where he talks about a woman masturbating in a hotel lobby and then them going to her room to fuck. She bought the CD for her 11 year old and heard the lyrics and made a major deal out of it, that's how the Parental Advisory label came about! XD

      There is no "old school Eminem". "Old school rap" is the term for REALLY old rap music from the late 70s and very early 80s. It has a distinctive flow, which was much simpler, than anything that came later. Also the styles of the different MCs from that early era of rap music were very similiar to each other. Eminem is from the late phase of the so called "golden age" of rap (late 80 to early 2000s). So there is nothing "old school" about Eminem, as there have been rap records for about 20 years already, when he released his first album. I understand that you young folks of today call EVERYTHING "old school", which came out before you were born or before you became interested in something, but "old school rap" has a very specific meaning within the history of rap music. Trust me, I've been into this subculture called hip hop since it became a thing...

    One of his most controversial songs was Kim, where he sings about killing his ex. All these feminine groups were up in arms, talking about how horrible he was. Eminem is one of the reasons there are Parental Advisory labels on music cd's! If you get a chance check out some of his earlier songs in the 90's! He was already a monster! His lyrical ability is already there! He has just honed it over time! 😁 They picketed & protested against him all over! In certain religious areas his music was banned!

      I'm old enough (57) to have been around at the time and in my opinion he is THE ONLY reason there are parental advisory labels on music now. "White America" details the hypocrisy that white politicians didn't care what was rapped about UNTIL a white guy started spittin' and middle-America white kids started listening in droves...hence the "FU Liz Chaney, FU Tipper Gore" at the end of that song.

    It’s amazing that Dre saw past him being white, a white rapper was unheard of. Even more today, many people wouldn’t look past his color and would just want to cancel him for “cultural appropriation” if he didn’t already cement himself as a legend.

    This came out when I was in middle school, and yes, every single parent alive at the time despised Eminem lol. Everything was all about protecting the kids was "inappropriate" music. He was seen as this absolutely terrible influence, CDs confiscated, videos banned.
    So of course, all us kids loved him. Everyone loves to root for a nuisance :)

    It made sense at the time that they tried to sensor him. When he came out he attacked everyone that was big at the time, Britney, Christina, Limp bizkit, Everlast, politicians. Talked about killing, homosexuality, all the opposite of what anyone was writing. Rappers were all about money, clothing and chicks at that time. Manson was getting huge for how off the wall he was but he was mainly anti-religious and not near as big of a genre that what Eminem was in. Times changed fast when Em came out.

He’s from detroit so it’s cool. Everyone at school listened to him. and when my mom heard the lyrics she was just like oh.. you probably shouldn’t hear that but too late now lol she heard mockingbird first and thought it was okay

    Without trying to get TOO DEEP ~ Em chose to rap with very little ego and comedy to replace it(plus he's got natural poet talent). People appreciate the clown/the fool because they aren't trying to impress with bullshit - they are clever & mischievous - relatable; Em is The Loki of Rap.

      @@blitzofchaosgaming6737 lol no. Most definitely not the way it's being done these days.
      Young people weren't canceling stuff back then. It was adults. Now it's the exact opposite. That's their point.
      And really, it was only a few artists of each genre getting hit. Not the whole genre itself except rap back in the 90's.
      What you are referring to is the mentallity that this music sucks and our music was good back in the day. That's completely different than what's being discussed here.

    • @blitzofchaosgaming6737
      @blitzofchaosgaming6737 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Kikan319 you only see it as canceling if its something you like . You don't see young people protesting against war as canceling. Just 20 years ago young people canceled Metallica because Metallica was against sharing music on the internet. When young people turned away from big band music and went towards early 60s rock you didn't see it as canceling. Every generation cancels their parents generation. Its called teenage rebellion.

I spent hours talking to him and sharing pictures and him flirting with me n he had me soo nervous and shaking but after while talking to him, i felt very comfortable with him.
