Great review Ben! It’s always interesting to see the fusion of American and Korean flavors, and your comparison of BonChon to traditional Korean fried chicken is spot on. The size of the chicken pieces definitely stands out, especially since Korean fried chicken is known for being smaller and crispier. I like how many sauces were included too. Thanks for sharing!
Glad to see Bonchon is a legit option that stays true to what you'd actually get over there (plus some more non-"traditional" options ofc). I was thinking that it seems great but it seems way more fun to go out for food in general compared to here in America, judging from what I've seen on some Korean Twitch streams.
@@waterscape8198he keeps getting food delivered by delivery apps. While it might be cheap in korea here in the US they mark up the prices like a motherfuckerz
I’m glad you’ve tried BonChon. Been watching your videos for a minute and bonchon has been my favorite korean fried chicken spot for a few years. I appreciate u boss
Honestly...it sounds like it was edited in at times or at least digitally altered. Especially on the first bites, there is a noticeable delay between the bite and the sound of the crunch.
@ ok…so what? He did that just to enhance the sound of the crunch? 🤦🏻♂️ Anyone who knows about Korean fried chicken isn’t surprised that it retains its crispness even after some time.
Yeah ain't no editing. Ordered bonchon doordash for the 1st time yesterday when I went to dc for vacation. Me and my girl went for new years and we didn't know what to expect from DC but the delivery was LATE asf. Over 45 minutes late and somehow the chicken was crispy AS HELL STILL.
As a brit watching you in NY and seeing these prices, even if I drove down to London and ordered from a "pricey" chicken spot, it would come nowhere close to a $130.... That is absolutely insane, are NY prices just inflated overall to match the salary there? I could order triple that amount of chicken here and it would probably come to around $60 probably less even including delivery fees. I genuinely cant believe that price.
He orders the food and NYC now has minimum wage for drivers so everything is overpriced from delivery apps and then they have to add the $15 minimum fee. Ben may be tipping on top of that as well. In person this would be ~70ish
@Viralsky - It's because he's using a delivery service to bring the food to him. They mark it up by about 4$ each item. Then any tips he does on top of that which he doesn't disclose. If you were to go in person and eat there at least in california for 2 people is around 40$
idk i’m from london too & looking at the amount of chicken he got, i think it would be pretty similar. he orders via delivery so delivery fees, markup & tipping adds extra fees
That was great to watch/listen to. You looked very happy eating BonChon and I do agree, it tastes great. Never been to South Korea though, but would love to one day. Havent watched your vids in awhile, I remember seeing you when you were around 20k subs and now you popped off! Very happy for your success.🍽✨
Costco has 25% off uber eats GCs right now + UE gives out 40% off deals left and right. I get bonchon routinely and my total out of pocket to feed 3 people + have leftovers is in the $30-$35 range after a $6-8 tip (it's less than 3 miles away, I vary by time of day/weather).
Mad for chicken is better! And mad for chicken usually has a bar in it. Plus pelicana chicken as well is another korean fried chicken chain where you can drink soju at. Try these other places!
I only get sauced chicken wings sometimes drumsticks from that place, spicy, soy garlic etc. The bon chon I go to has a bar? At least last time I went.
@@largelump3613I mean, he makes nearly $2000 per episode with TH-cam’s ad revenue. I’m sure that extra money he pays for it to be delivered and to tip the driver is worth it for his peace.
Theres no BonChon in Korea, because everyone knows them as the bootleg KyoChon, which they really started as. Besides, theres way too much competion in Korea for them to bother risk an investment.
New York City: For steak go to Sparks steakhouse on 210 East 46th street (better than Keens), go to Ichiran Ramen for good Japanese in midtown Manhattan for lunch, go to Rubirosa in Little Italy for great Italian food - the best local dive bar to chill in (they give free hot dog with every beer beer too) with good folks is called Rudy’s in Times Square. Definitely for best tacos hit up Los Tacos No.1 on 43rd street and I have heard good things about Minetta’s Tavern also.
Ben! We are huge fans of your content, would love to do a food crawl since you’re here in NYC longer. For one of your videos you should definitely check out Los Tacos No 1. One of the best tacos in NYC
Ben! I live near Glenview IL and bonchon is literally my favorite restaurant. If by some miracle you do a part 2 you need to try the topoki and bulgogi fries we get them every time. Also soygarlic bonesless are the move
I remember when they used to make their fried chicken flat, still miss the old way they used to make it. Didn't realize they had so many stores across the US
ngl the chicken strips there are gas but you gotta get them with the sauce like soy garlic or spicy. never had them plain so i can’t imagine what they would be like. it’s usually still crispy and sauced up well
Ben could you explain why everything cost so much? I’m moving to New York for culinary school and I’m curious, is it the food prices or the delivery fees that’s racking it up? lol
For a chain, I actually like BonChon more than Bb.q chicken. I think if you dined in they have a full bar, but since you ordered delivery there weren’t any beer options.
Have a Bon Chon near me, and i'm 99% sure it has beer on its menu, but it's been a while since i've been there for dine in, and it's not available on their take out menu.
Ive never had a good Bonchon chicken in my country yet 😂 they always seem to mess up the batter 😂 too thick and overcooked that it tastes burnt. A new spot is about to open near my place. Hoping they will get it right. BBq Chicken shop is still the best I had here, a bit more expensive and it will be a 3 hour drive to get some 😅
Chicken places in the US like Rooster's or BWW serve beer. At Rooster's in Ohio they even have $2 draft beers. I think when you tell us the price, you should say what the price would be if you get it at the place, not just the delivered price.
Note people who question the price, the wings are more expensive than drums and would cost additional $2-$3 to the price of the set. Wings are now on average $2 a piece or more depending on the location. In Cali, bonchon in restaurant is currently ~$18-$19 w/o tax for 8 PCs of wings. Now, to add in the fact that Ben ordered delivery ….the prices will hike up with the app/ service fees that would make those ‘store prices’ almost doubled. And being NYC, it is a bit more expensive. So it’s overwhelming but kind of expected that it came around $133. Lol 😅
I've always thought bonchon was in korea, but i think i got it mixed up with bb.q chicken lol I also thought bonchon was the americanized version of 반찬 because of the way its pronounced :P
