I disassembled the shifter and was trying to put it back together - the tip about pulling the button out saved me - thank you; I needed to see it confirmed that that was the correct procedure as there seemed to be an issue with mine and it was not easy to get it to pull the arm far enough back for assembly. Much appreciated.
Yes first wrap a piece of tape around the button with it pulled out to keep it from pulling back in, also now that I see that hole it's more likely to put some sort of pin in it instead of taping the button to prevent it from going back in.
Great instructional video. I'm hoping you can help me out of a jam. I've just bought an 04 V8 that among other things had the shifter handle removed. Today I worked out why - the eyelet at the top of the shifter rod is broken. Do I have to replace the complete assembly? How is that done? I can't find any advice anywhere....
Does all of that gubbings come out from the interior? My V10 is coming out for various reasons but I have a problem with my shifter the button sticks in and I'm having to yank that white bit up manually.
