Yeah, absolutely it takes awhile to get there isn’t it? But it sounds like you’re in a great place and things are okay. I’m sending my best wishes, Chris.
@@john-q6b1g 1979 was the start of reflecting and speaking out against the machine. I never really understood the meaning of that song as a child. @@MrMarcy76 Ha ha, true enough. My lifelong experiences have taught me that it's very hard to find the middle ground with anything really. When I was at school in the '60's the cane/strap was administered quite liberally, without complaint from any parent. Image that now 😂
What gets me is that no matter how hard you work the lazy ones hobnobbing with their piers or are always off sick manage to get a promotion no one else ever hears about. Or all of a sudden a job is created that never existed and a "best mate" gets it. Happens all the time!!!
Sadly, this is a wellborn path and many many people feel that too. It’s a common theme unfortunately thanks for sharing your experience. I really appreciate it. Kind regards, Chris.
Great topic. The other thing is if you're the one doing all the work you're never going to get a promotion as they need you in that job too much. Really enjoying your videos, thank you! And good luck with your new house!
Very true! And thank you, Louise. I really appreciate you saying that I’m not sure when I will get to move into my new place. It may be as late as the end of March early April in the meantime I’m enjoying doing these blogs and connecting with some amazing people have a wonderful day. Best wishes, Chris.
I gave up my cleaning business a year ago because the lady at the big house where I was working continuesly kept asking me to do things even though I was already busy with something. She pushed me to the limit until I physically woke up one morning & couldn't carry on, I contacted her & told her I was finished. I'm now loving working from home 😊
You’ve gotta find work that really suits you don’t you? And that gives you a great work life balance? I’m glad you found something that you enjoy. Kindest regards, Chris.
Another great topic. I absolutely agree with you. I experienced the very same. It's not worth to ruin my health, because nobody at work is your friend and the employer just wants to squeeze you out. Nobody is loyal towards you. They can make you redundant on the spot. Those who make a "career" are not always those who are competent or hard worker. Office politics is horrific. Thank you Chris 👍
Thank you it seems like a common theme amongst a lot of peoples working experience. I guess what we have to do is do our best at work but not really kill ourselves doing it as always have a lovely day. Kind regards Chris
That’s why more people want to work remotely, but to my surprise, my friend has told me the politics still exist, when he has zoom meetings. I can’t relate, as I’ve never worked from home. But, he tells me there’s a sense of isolation and paranoia when you work remotely for an office position. I make the job work for me now, not the other way around.

Great topic. I’ve reduced my hours in healthcare because of this. I continue to work as hard as possible and I see how others are laughing and chatting while I run circles around them. Looking forward to retirement… in 12 years.
What I found is that the “slackers” are very talented at ingratiating themselves to management, and then bad management allows this kind of workplace inequity. I’ve worked with people that strived for 100% excellence and people that barely did what they had to do to get by. I was fortunate that I worked a Union Job (Teamsters) I was also a shop steward for many years and did enjoy being able to callout management for their abuses. Your frustration is REAL, especially when you are in managements crosshairs ( being treated badly at the end ) it’s typical. I know people have mixed feelings about Union’s but here in the US, it’s the only way for us to have a voice in the workplace. Another great topic Chris….well done!
Thank you 🙏🏻 I appreciate your comments and sadly you’re so right in what you say it’s such a common issue in the workplace. Best wishes and kind regards, Chris 🎉
Self respect comes with self employment; you pay yourself, you get rewarded for what you do and you don't have to sit back and watch others take credit for the work they have not done. And the plus side is, if you don't get paid, you only got yourself to blame.
Yes I’ve experienced this too! Working as a nurse some of my colleagues were very toxic- It was a very stressful environment working with the elderly but I loved the job- the dodgers I worked with saw me as a soft touch- flog a willing horse as the saying goes! I became unwell with fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue and these so called caring nurses had no sympathy or empath, I reduced my days working and I noticed they left things for me to catch up on increasing my workload in those days- unbelievable! I left in 2012 and I haven’t seen any of them since, but they asked about me to my family and I find out some are suffering from various illnesses wanting my attention! I’m done with these people Chris When I left they couldn’t understand why I hadn’t gone in to see them for a coffee/chat 🤣😸
I work part time, it pays my bills, money isn't everything. I have worked at places where you always get slackers and they are usually protected by supervisors, find somewhere your appreciated 😊
Hi Chris I worked 36 years in manned security, totally agree working hard for me no where.Plus I never got any where going up the ladder apart from finding me assignments which were difficult eg looking after young women in a hostel many with mental health challenges. When I approached my bosses was you the only one who won't interfere with the women Saids a lot about this now dedunked company.
Again this is a common theme isn’t it? And it happens every single time with people who give their utmost but what I would say is that trying migrate to a more sustainable post where you can be appreciated I think that might be the best thing and if you have done that then congratulations and I hope you’re happy kindest regards, Chris.
The worst thing is when people make you do the work but they don't have a clue what to do themselves but because they are on par aka colleagues or even senior to you then it makes it even worse.
Ha! I left my job on New Years Eve for a similar reason. I worked in a claustrophobic open plan office with 18 or so people in a confined space. Too much chatter going but the manager and her supervisor were too soft to take any firm action on the constant talkers. I did data entry and it was hard avoid spelling or numerical mistakes when there was a cacophony of loud voices behind me. I was a good worker. Proved my worth in the first 6 months that superiors awarded me with extra duties. 🙄 Carried on for the next 21 or so months without too much complaint. Felt taken for granted and no interventions were done to make my job a little easier for me so I handed my notice in. Possibly a bit of resentment amongst colleagues to me because I just wanted to get on with my job quietly (inbetween having the odd laugh and chat). Have found that the work day goes quicker when I knuckle down with work. Currently unemployed.
I wholeheartedly agree with your words here, Chris. Unfortunately nowadays most people are lazy, entitled and arrogant. Work ethics are sorely lacking.
One of the worst jobs i had came down to terrible management. If you weren't in with the boss youwere just there to be pushed around. It was physically and mentally draining, but you were never allowed 'to take 5' and pushed to the extreme. High turn over of staff, no wonder

It's almost dystopian or surreal. 😂 You know, NOT doing at least the basics of the job you're paid to do IS THEFT. It's you not honoring the contract. So, I don't understand their hiring and paying thieves but then, given they DON'T reward harder workers, like you giving them 20 years and then them treating that with casual indifference is AWFUL. Sorry you experienced that and I don't blame you for feeling disappointed. They're lucky you didn't toss a trash can at them😂
Absolutely! The harder you work the less respect you get. Took me 49 years to learn that one. No justice in it. So take your foot off the pedal.
