wow perfect timing i just ordered the parts for my first quad earlier so i could use the shortsaver for my first build to make sure i didn't do any mistakes
Just getting into putting the first parts in a first quad and I sure hope I'm connecting things correctly. I have a bulb based smoke stopper, I'm putting a lot of faith into it catching any mistakes I make in wiring.

I soldered the capacitor wrong. 🙄 Thankfully it was the only issue. 😬 About the discharger, I guess we all need something like that... Sometimes you don't have the time to discharge your packs. But you know something they could make that would be even better? A discharger for 1s batteries! Something that would discharge at 0.25A, for example (it would be 1C for many of those batteries) and could even have many plugs, to discharge many at time. Anyway... Happy new year, Albert! This is a must have! I'd use so many time a lamp smoke stopper but this will replace my old one because it's soo smart! It can see a short circuit in the 5v pads! That's amazing! Same thing for the battery discharge! Very useful!
I only just used the V1 smoke stopped about 30 mins ago after having to rebuild my quad after crashing into wet sand. The V2 looks heaps better. But what I could really use is about 6 of the xt60 safestores. Thanks again Al.
The storage discharger would be so helpful. I'm always lazy and don't discharge my packs when I get back from a spot but then I regret it, and this would certainly help with that. I honestly need a smokestopper more though because I am (trying) to build another quad soon and I still don't have a smokestopper to test for shorts. I charge more batteries that I fly. As It seems to always get windy in my area. So the store safe discharger TX 60 would be easier than running them through a storage program on the charger. Plug um in, and chuck them in my lipo bag, done. Keep up the awesome content, and Happy New Year!
Well I have v one of the short saver and it's working fine but I really would like some of them storage charge things. I wouldn't mind picking up like four of them just in case you destroy your quad with a bag full of batteries left although I do have other quads to burn them
Getting back into RC after having a bash with an AXN Clouds Fly as documented by RCModelReviews a few years ago. Quads seem to be easier to learn! Now wanting to get setup with the right tools.
I could use both products. I like that the short saver can be used to simplify binding and would definitely help from burning up my components from a missed solder ball. As for the storage dischargers..I always have a couple batts that need discharging after my flying sessions. Thanks Albert.

The power button on the new ShortSaver sounds really useful for receiver binding and also just as a way of quickly shutting things down if something goes wrong. The StoreSafe sounds like it's best used with smaller batteries, so I suspect the XT30 version will be in higher demand. How much power does the StoreSafe draw once it has discharged the battery to the storage voltage? (To power the microcontroller / LED etc) I'm wondering how long you could leave one on a battery before it would damage it.

Would love to have the short stopper since I always seem to need three hands when working on my drone to bind or fiddle with the vtx. One to hold the button down and the other two to plug the battery in.
A smoke stopper would be a useful tool to keep the magic smoke in my flight controllers. ☺ I have one of those smart usb chargers that will drain a Lipo to a storage voltage, so I use that to charge my phones and other devices when I come back from the field with unused packs but these would be a good 2nd option.

I only have a few 6s batteries, but with winter here in Eastern US, the weather can be unpredictable. I already have short saver V1, so I would prefer the discharge unit. That would be great, though my ISDT charger technically can discharge, it takes hours as it only discharges at .4A rate. Would LOVE to win the dischargers or the short saver! I have cooked numerous boards from using the wrong flux to soldering mistakes. And I have a venom pro 2 charger that takes FOREVER to discharge batteries. These would be extremely handy!
I'll give you two reasons: 1, I bought the ShortSaver a week or two ago and didn't even know there was a V2, I wish I had waited! 2, I live in Oregon where it rains all winter long and if I miss my chance to fly I end up with packs charged for a week or so until I can run them down.
I have a lightbulb smoke stopper I built with a switch, but sadly the switch is too hard to flip with one hand (doh!). This would be better for sure. I like that it has xt30 (which I use) as well.

The reason these would be awesome is because the charger I have doesn't have a discharge function, and the only way I can get my lipos to storage voltage is flying them, which is sometimes not an option (ie. bad weather, parts break, shipping time etc.)

Cool product. I have the older version which trips when plug to a larger motor like 2807. Does the timer setting over current solves that?
No, it will still trip because those huge motors draw too much current even when idle.
