I hate when people rank their skills that is absurd. Seungmin still have many things to show. He still doesn't get that opportunity to show all his vocal, rap abilities. Some people think Seungmin dances lazily. I watched almost all seungmin fancam he doesn't dance lazy. For example in double knot fancam he dances so powerful. All members have just different style of dancing he dances really swaggy, also his footwork is really light. I love his dancing too. For his personality he is not that chill he have those loud, crazy moments, but he is one of the member who is more extroverted. He mainly take the lead in skz conversations and he is very good at expessing himself. He is really good host. He have many sides of personality. It is just because of his quiet tone speaking. But he is not quiet at all. He is loud, menace, savage, witty, smart, extrovert and so funny. You will see in Skz code, racha log, 2 kids room, one kids room, skz talker and 2 kids show. But he said he was an ESFJ but recently changed to an ISFJ.
I'd say Seungmin has a quiet confidence which is what makes him an extrovert and seem more mature. He also definitely breaks out of his shell and becomes such a menace down the line. This version of My Sea by IU is so gorgeous. Truly a comfort listen for me.
Seungmin’s voice has this clean and pure quality about it that reminds me of a Disney prince, I can almost see him singing in musical theater or for lullaby like songs if that makes sense. Also Hyunjin requested Seungmin to sing “My Sea,” which he did with Lee Mujin. Hyunjin is definitely Seungmin’s biggest fan, and called him “his singer” after this episode. The members are truly each other’s biggest support. Also loved to see the progress in Seungmin’s voice from back then to now, he’s so amazing. Thanks for this reaction!❤
It is hard to choose a "favorite" vocalist from Stray Kids, since the group makes a real effort to highlight each member, and they write and produce their songs to use each member's strengths. If you want some of the more ballad type Skz songs, try Cover Me off their latest album, which is a pure vocal song with every member singing (no MV, but there are good color coded lyrics videos, helpful since some of them don't sound at all the way you would expect). Also look at Winter Falls and Lonely Street, which do have MVs, and the "vocal line" (Bang Chan, Lee know, Seungmin and IN) also has Waiting For Us (no MV). Stray Kids also released an album called Skz Replay, which was a compilation of previously unreleased unit songs by various members plus at least one new solo song by each member created specifically for the album. Listing just the songs with a more vocal emphasis on that album: Seungmin and Changbin's Piece of a Puzzle, Changbin's Streetlight (he sings some and raps some in that), Changbin and Felix' Because, Chan's I Hate to Admit, Felix' Deep End, Hyunjin's Miss You and Love Untold, Han's Close and HaPpy, Lee Know's Limbo, Seungmin's Stars and Raindrops, IN's Hug Me. Note these are just the songs that feel more vocal or emotional to me.
seungmin's voice is really good for duets. he always compliments whoever he's singing, so well. it's also hella cool that in seungmin's more recent performances you can tell he has improved greatly since that video came out. he is just constantly improving
Agreed with the other commentors that "bland" was not the best translation. Seungmin has a very "classic" voice. Like the stone egg comparison, is feels warm and has a richer sensibility. It creates a beautiful counter to other members. I also agree that comparing voices in any group or across groups serves no purpose. Certainly having a sound that a particular person gravitates towards is normal, but you are literally comparing I.N's bright tone, to HAN's edgier/rock power vocal tones, to Chan's earthier tones, to Felix's round/open tones, to Lee Know's breathier/floaty tones, to Changbin's crispy tones, Hyunjin's sultry/sticky tones, to Seungmin's warm/clean tones. It's just a matter of preference as you said. SKZ don't seem to prioritize a lot of vocal agility in their music currently, but it certainly is not from a lack of skill. There are some runs in the background for some of their ballads, but they tend to focus more on the storytelling in their vocal performance rather than the full range of skills in their repertoires. Chan (to my knowledge) has the most agility based on hearing him sing on Chan's Room. When he sings along to R&B or just hums a tune on his mind, he will do a lot of riffs/runs off the cuff, but he doesn't incorporate that much in SKZ's current discography. Hyunjin has also shown similar agility when he sings along to music during lives (he and Chan have similar tastes in music). I would say that Seungmin has, overall, the most control over his voice (with I.N being a close second) currently. Lee Know has really elevated his skills in the past few years after seeing the same vocal teacher that Seungmin and I.N go to. HAN, from what I've heard, focuses more on the power and tone rather than the mobility, but there was a particular behind when they were recording the "I'll Be Your Man" Kingdom performance where he was struggling to get to the high note and just started a run to build himself up to the high note to get him out of his own head. So he certainly has the capability. They are all talented vocalists and each have a tone that is uniquely theirs. I think what I appreciate most about SKZ's discography in terms of vocal performance is that they allow the uniqueness of each voice in the group to be what it is and not force a "sameness" to the tone or delivery. It creates a challenge for the production as it requires more creativity in the mix, but it, to me, makes the lyric delivery feel so much more impactful when each unique voice brings a specific emotion to the lines. Not sure if anyone already mentioned this…but regarding the vocal flushing at the end of his phrasing…it’s a technique/style that JYP favors and has his artists use frequently. They joke about it sometimes and I’ve heard it talked about as singing with more air than voice (like 60% air 40% voice kinda thing). I think they were using it as a technique for redirecting mental focus off the throat to relieve tension. Seungmin doesn’t seem to do it so much anymore, and he has grown an incredible amount both in confidence and ability, so I tend to think it was an intentional practice to help work through some other aspect he was struggling with at the time. It’s something that I.N. has also referenced but he appears to have outgrown the practice as well.

As soon as you hear Seungmin's voice, your heart jumps out of your chest, your breath catches, and tears flow like a stream. And it's not just his great technique, excellent command of his voice, incredible strength and amazing range. His vocals are able to evoke emotions, give birth to feelings and touch the farthest corners of the heart, at the same time capturing your soul and no longer letting go. Its more like "light" or "clear" rather than "bland" just some misstranslate. The early episode of lee mujin's service the 1st song was supposed to be lee mujin cover the guest's song,, just in later episode they change the format like now the guest just sing their own song. Seungmin is really an incredible and just amazing person in every sense, he manages everything, no matter what he undertakes, he is good at everything. Amazing vocals also writes songs himself. Few people know that he was still in the dance club at school. His movements in choreography are always so natural and clear, as if without a drop of effort, he plays the guitar, plays baseball, football and bowling superbly at first glance you wouldn't think but he is very hardy. I will never stop admiring Seungmin.

Wow! So many points in this video that I agree with! I feel like it is not talked about enough how Seungmin's episode was the second one ever and that Seungmin was the first boy group member who guested on the show! I'm glad you pointed it out, I also think it's kind of iconic. I remember watching it when it came out and not knowing what to expect cause it was a brand new show, and I agree I really liked the authenticity of the earlier episodes where that cover in btwn the second song and duet was definitely spontaneous! No worries about the mentions about vocal technique, I find it interesting to hear as well! Especially when it comes from someone like you who has clear experience and know what they are taking about without bashing anyone lol. I also dislike those ranking videos, people are way to harsh for no reason and instead of having constructive conversations all they do is fight mindlessly with each other, it is annoying to see. Also for agility, Stray kids do not use it much to be honest (as they do not really do much vocally interesting stuff, outside of an occasional belt, in their songs unfortunately). The only example I can think of right now is in the song Give Me Your TMI (in 2022's Maxident album) during Seungmin's part in the bridge, he does a couple small runs but that's it lol. Anyway, i'll always be proud of Seungmin for working on his voice even when he is already quite good, to this day he still pays out of his own pocket for vocal lessons (same place as some exo members btw!) and how other members like I.N and Lee Know, followed his example and joined. Wow! So many points in this video that I agree with! I feel like it is not talked about enough how Seungmin's episode was the second one ever and that Seungmin was the first boy group member who guested on the show! I'm glad you pointed it out, I also think it's kind of iconic. I remember watching it when it came out and not knowing what to expect cause it was a brand new show, and I agree I really liked the authenticity of the earlier episodes where that cover in btwn the second song and duet was definitely spontaneous! No worries about the mentions about vocal technique, I find it interesting to hear as well! Especially when it comes from someone like you who has clear experience and know what they are taking about without bashing anyone lol. I also dislike those ranking videos, people are way to harsh for no reason and instead of having constructive conversations all they do is fight mindlessly with each other, it is annoying to see. Also for agility, Stray kids do not use it much to be honest (as they do not really do much vocally interesting stuff, outside of an occasional belt, in their songs unfortunately). The only example I can think of right now is in the song Give Me Your TMI (in 2022's Maxident album) during Seungmin's part in the bridge, he does a couple small runs but that's it lol. Anyway, i'll always be proud of Seungmin for working on his voice even when he is already quite good, to this day he still pays out of his own pocket for vocal lessons (same place as some exo members btw!) and how other members like I.N and Lee Know, followed his example and joined. He is very diligent, humble and always improving and that is why it is so fun to follow his journey as a singer and an artist. Thank you for your very interesting reaction, take care!

Han was already a main rapper and a main producer. For he cared more about Seungmin training... So he chose to carry main vocals for a year and half of the most meaningful part of their rise to fame. So, you know, back off the whole "so proud of only the vocal line" bs.

(agility refers to stuff like runs and skz do not do that in their songs tbh, only Give me your Tmi’s bridge has a small bit of runs by Seungmin and that’s really it) No need to be defensive. And talking about people who spread narratives, here you are spreading the narrative that seungmin started taking lessons because his members made “time for him to” and they carried his burden for him, when it is not true in the slightest. Look at Skz2020 and 2021, Seungmin took on many new parts but people keep erasing that even though Seungmin himself said on a radio show he had a mental breakdown over the pressure of having more responsibilities in vocals. You people always give credit to other members for Seungmin’s effort. ALL the members deserve credit for what they are doing. He was doing self-practice from 2018-19 and starting doing lessons on his own in 2020 until now, so for 4 years. You clearly are just here to be spiteful, in the comments of someone praising Seungmin on a SEUNGMIN REACTION VIDEO. don’t watch seungmin reaction videos if you don’t want to see praise for his efforts.
Also I was not aware Han was taking lessons? Can you link me where he said this? I am only aware of Seungmin, I.N and Lee Know because their vocal trainers VOICETUNING posted them on their Instagram after attending Skz’s concert in October last year. OMG Literally every day, Seungmin's voice is a discovery for me, every time his vocals open up from a completely different side, I just will never stop being amazed and admired. How masterfully, beautifully and skillfully he owns his voice, his amazing stability and most importantly, the strength, power and range of diversity of his vocals. Seungmin from the "angelic voice" turned into a real diamond not only for STRAY KIDS but for the entire K-POP industry as a whole.
