I remember Jonathan's rare Mustel Harmonium from a home Christmas concert. That type of instrument was once common in the U.S. too. They were often the first organ for churches in rural areas and more numerous in homes than pianos. From Chicago, U.S.A.
I loved this video: an excellent explanation from Jonathan with his wonderful performance at Harmoniun and an incredible video from Tom! How beautiful and well-preserved treasures you have in your country! Congratulations and thank you for this video! ❤❤
What an enjoyable recital ! All this Repertoire was new to me so was enhanced by your erudite introductions Jonathan. Nice views of Clayton Hall from Tom.
Great program and interesting histories. Especially enjoyed the Barcarolle and the Polka as we toured. Still on my visit to do list! Thanks for sharing. 💐💐💃🎹🎶
This tour of the history of this place and the relationship with your lives is very interesting!! Thank you for sharing these moments with all of us!!👏👏👏
What a lovely video. Wonderful to hear the harmonium and some unfamiliar repertoire. The Lemmens Fanfare is one of my favourite organ pieces and it’s great to hear it on the harmonium - a totally different sound!
Excellent!! What an enjoyable harmonium recital from Clayton Hall! I too enjoy the Lemmens piece when played on the organ. That does look like a very interesting place - thank you Tom for the great views of the Hall. Thank you both for this video, such a treat! xx
Hallo! Thank you B B❤❤that was very interesting and Beautiful!! Clayton Hall Manchester. Beautiful England with that old places I Love it to see that! Thanks for sharing with us. With Love from the Netherlands.
My aunt had something similar in a very rural area of East Tennessee known as Paint Rock. It only had a single keyboard and it was like running a marathon to pump it. We only knew it as a "pump organ". I personally haven't seen it since the 1970's. Last I heard, it was in her son's possession.
I really enjoy the sound of the harmonium. The engineering behind it and the dexterity of the player it assumes is amazing. I'm especially impressed by the knee levers. As always, Jonathan shows off the full power of this instrument well, and Tom brings that to us in the video with great effect. Thank you!
I really enjoyed this video. Your timing has to be spot-on with one of these instruments, co-ordination is key. Thank you Tom for the lovely visuals, and Jonathan for the lively tunes. Happy Easter. XX
A few weeks ago my attention was drawn to a plaque on St Ann's Well, Great Malvern, to 'Blind George' Pullen (1866 - 1936). Blind from birth, he made his living as a pianist, organist - and harmoniumist. According to the plaque, he played the harmonium in the building at the well (a tea room, sweet shop and home combined) for over fifty years. We don't know what instrument he played - it would be nice to imagine it was a two-manual Debain - or what he played. But Jonathan gives us a few ideas here which help to fill in the gaps. I do wonder about the poor harmonium in what must have been cold and damp building for much of the year. Excellent camerawork and editing from Tom, as usual. So professional that it's easy to take it for granted.
I would like to see you play the very rare and biggest pedal reed "Vocalion" organ ever built by Mason & Risch with three manuals and pedals in the the Waldensian Evangelical church in Pisa, Italy 😊
That was absolutely brilliant. Thank you for an excellent concert.

What a wonderful Good Friday treat. Beautiful concert in a beautiful venue.
Jonathan is testing what the harmonium can withstand 🌹
I always have respect for this instrument. Very beautiful environment .

Absolutely wonderful to hear these lesser known pieces, played on the harmonium. I'm sure you'll find many others to play. I do hope so.
Absolutely lovely! What a pleasant treat for this Good Friday afternoon - thank you!!!
Excelente! Muito obrigada! 🎵🎶🙏🫶🏻
Ad occhi chiusi sembrava di sentire una fisarmonica....davvero un bel suono.
E complimenti per come suonate 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Fantastically done! I enjoyed the video greatly!

Great music and amazing player !
Very neat instrument! I enjoyed this very much!
It's great what Jonahan gets out of the harmonium. I hope the instrument survives.

Geweldig leuk om te zien en te horen Hans uit Zwolle Nederland
Thank you. That was enjoyable ❤
Not only brilliant but also educational. I would much appreciate an organ transcription of the Good Friday Music from Parsifal. Thanks, happy Easter.
Cute in your school uniform ❤

Вот жалко я английский не понимаю ... надо учить ))
Is it just me? Or does this thing sound like an accordion? Maybe Jonathan could perform a duet with Weird Al Yankovic!
It produces sound in a very similar manner to an accordion. Both rely on sending vibrations through free reeds.
All pedals are foot pedals.
