Hey Sebastian, once again... fantastic review! This is one of the best gourmands I've tried to date, absolutely top-notch stuff. I love the way you really dive into the details of different notes, it makes it really easy to imagine what to expect. The explanation of the caramel/toffee/butterscotch differences was a really good touch, I also hadn't known! The fruitiness thing to me actually came from the fact that the almonds bring out an amaretto/marzipan experience, which to me has similarities to cherry, kind of like how Dr. Pepper has a marzipan-ness about it. I hope this helps, and thanks again for the content 🙏💯
I also got the Italica today. I have applied this and I am enjoying it as you speak and to be honest, yes, I get the fruity note, the berries. To me, this smells like toffee with berries. Delicious fragrance. And you are a master at describing fragrances as they truly smell.
I should test this again. I felt like the dry down was very different from the cold sniff and initial spray. In the dry down, I got an Allende and La Capitals vibe, which might explain the fruity note. It also reminded me of Cruz del Sur II (which I love) with the lactonic note and it just seemed like too much information. I washed it off afterwards, which I now regret. I’ll give this another try.
I'm looking to pick this one up in the winter. I received a sample of this with 1888 (Wow), Mefisto (great tea) and Dolce Amalfi (Wow). I immediately picked up the bubble-gum Dolce Amalfi for summer, and Italica also blew me away similarly but for winter. Truly edible smell, I have to imagine if you caught a glance of this on someone in winter you'd be pretty impressed by what hit your nose. I'll probably go 100ml but I'm only concerned that it will last the rest of my life given the potency.
I own a bottle, and I LOVEE the top note from intial spray, but the dry down... I cannot stand it 🥲 too milky and I get very synthetic vanilla note..kind of like a very standard vanilla car diffuser. headache inducing 🥲
This is not a blindbuy worthy scent. I blind bought this a year ago. But it is way to heavy for me. I get a strange hangover kind of feel when i wear it. Whilst others love to smell it. I is a beautifull scent absolutely!!! Nothing wrong with it. Just dont blind buy it. Test it! I made mom happy 🥰
Italica and 1888 are in my top 10 list,....and I have a 2400 bottle collection. This review is spot on...and here I thought I was the only one picking up on that subtle fruitiness

Okay it looks like that's not entirely correct. They're in the same family of tree, but independent trees. The almond tree is actually more closer related to the peach tree than cherry. However, there is a similarity in the smell due to this relationship, and that's from benzaldehyde (present in almonds, apricots, plums, cherries, peaches). It's also apparently a byproduct of the deadly poison cyanide, which almonds produce in their shell, and eating a handful of raw wild almonds could kill a child.
I know a few people who don't dig it, but in the right amounts, I'm a fan. Still prefer something like Lira, but I prefer the red bottle. I can do without those tacky tassels. 😄
I am almost sure that the fruitiness you are talking about comes from a nuance of the almond because PDM Pegasus also has that kind of fruitiness without any listed fruit notes but with almond as a main note...
I have a sample on the way, for now I have been wearing Alexandria's Italian Caramel, which is fresher then I thought it would be yet very cookie like.
