- Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba has released a new version of its AI model, which it claims outdoes its competitors. Deepseek, the Chinese AI that unsettled American tech stocks, released its latest version on Jan. 20. US President Donald Trump deemed its release as a ‘wake-up call’ for US companies. Deepseek sets itself apart as it was built at a fraction of the cost of OpenAI, which topped open-source AI models till now. Qwen 2.5 AI model surpasses DeepSeek-V3, Alibaba has claimed.

Although the real GDP of China is better... one could understand why many talented Chinese still wants to go to America because of the quality of life. First off, even being well-paid in China, the competition between peers since childhood is like a death grip...
As we all know, success begets success. There is a limited placements in every country in each industry. Some industry are just meant to have monopoly or oligopoly. Imagine having an easier life and getting better quality of life elsewhere.
We all know that China has not just the sheer number of talent but the amount of hard work they are practically forced into by society. I think it will generally go down to the wire of who can retain most of the talent and harness their capability.
In terms of "daylight battle", I think both sides are quite near equal... or China has a slight edge because of the big enemies America made.
In terms of "underground battle", I think America has always been better at sabotage covert ops... If they can stir the hearts of the people in China to revolt.
I just hope they would still work together on climate change and green projects together. That's a top priority for all living things on Earth.

@@Kevin-t8t2n I tried DeepSeek many times yesterday and today, but most times their servers didn't work. If they do, still it was such an impractical to use into my native langauge. (It was set to proiritarly answer in English)
It has very restricted information, like: can't give the information how is the weather todays.
It is good how some exact questions like on coding, math, or learning language, but not much humanized AI, it has still much to improve.
I like Alibaba saying their inference model surpasses DeepSeek, not ChatGPT.
The biggest insult is not to disparage, but to pretend it doesn't exist.
