This is probably the best part of the music by Jongen: the chamber music -even if his orchestral music is of high quality ( poetic evocations or more abstract constructions like its concerting symphony for organ and orchestra).. The influence of the French "school" (if such a thing exists) is quite sensitive, but a personality emerges, which cannot be mixed with anybody else. The French influence can probably be seen in the choice of various instruments (how can we avoid thinking to Debussy's sonata for flute, viola and harp?) and in the modal form of melodic cells.
Great work, caracteristic of the neotonal impressionism of the Interwar period! Thanks for uploading these rare pieces!
Fantastic in every respect! Tnx...:)
Very nice artwork with the music!
enchanting ~ thank you!
