I will never forget the week where nobody, I repeat, absolutely nobody knew what was going to happen in the last episode of season 5! It was one of the best weeks I’ve ever had because for once the manga readers didn’t spoil the ending. I remember everyone thought it was gonna have an anime original ending like some other anime but then the proceeding manga chapters matched up with how the season ended and that theory immediately was disproved!

That finale was so good and well planned. It left me with so many questions & possibilities! The fact that it immediately made a bridge between the current arc and the next one that just started was such a great point for the cliffhanger to show. We'll definitely get all the answers to the questions we have because the story is far from over but the fans already started jumping to conclusions for the characters' ends which is sad

To me it almost seemed like there could be another movie next because of how they said they will "wrap up the problem that Fukuchi started" or something like that. It didn't really seem like the premise to a whole new season (if it's just wrapping up the events in season 5). Anyways I was just wondering if you had any thoughts on this. The ending personally made me very happy because we finally had all of the answers to everything that had happend (in the manga and anime because my brain doesn't do well with comic style books), although I wasn't sure if it was a good ending or not because I am too partial to Sokoku's dynamic and existence. And the last thing is, can we really be sure that Fyodor is actually gone. He has been a main antagonist for a majority of the story. Not to mention that we still haven't learned what his ability is. They put a lot of emphasis on the fact that he must be d3ad because of his arm. We didn't see any other evidence that someone was caught in the explosion (no clothes or other limbs or anything), so I think that there is a good chance that he is not dead. And for the poison, he might have been able to use his ability to survive that as-well. anyways...sorry for writing and entire essay. Loved the video!!!

    • @Seyorias

You bring up a lot of great points especially about Fyodor. That always interested me that we never really got his power revealed since like you mentioned they bring it up a lot. I could very much see them doing a movie too to let the manga get ahead so they can adapt more content.

I absolutely love BSD to pieces, but while the ending in itself is alright writing-wise, the pacing on the other hand is... disgusting. I could try to put it into lighter words but I just can't. The fact that literally every conflict had to wrap up in one episode made most of the things that happened before then feel insignificant because ''hey, that was easy!''. I wouldn't have a problem with it if they spent more episodes expanding the conflict instead of shoving the epilogue into one mess of an episode. Bones shot themselves in the leg by giving season 5 mere 10 episodes. Not sure how Asagiri will fair, since the chapters are still coming out but the pace does need more space to breathe.
No way Fyodor is dead and that he believed Chuuya was a vampire, because THAT was a whole different breed of tomfoolery. No way that a mastermind like him, that is on par with Dazai, would not notice Nakahara's weirdly human-like mannerisms. Also the Jesus quote is a straight give away.
Another one nitpick that I have is the uncanny resemblance between Aya and Bram's daughter. It made me heavily question the sincerity of their companionship and feel other types of weird in general. Bram's daughter's design is JUST AYA IN A DRESS. I am a a bit too heated over that, sorry lol. And well, how did Aya even manage to get that sword out of him in the end? Seems like a good ol' plot convenience.
Also the numerous questions left unanswered a bit muddied my feeling of the final. What about Jouno? Is Sigma dead or in a coma and why did Dazai leave him alone in the prison? Did Tachihara die as a vampire? Where is he? What is the deal with the alternative universe where Fukuchi and Aku are alive? Where in tf is NATSUMI?? Why did bones cut out a scene with Mori helping out ADA with information?
This doesn't feel like a satisfactory end of a season, more like a middle of a story that was left unsaid. Most likely most of the questions will be answered in later chapters. The dividing of the season is unfortunate though. Maybe the studio should have waited a bit for Harukawa and Asagiri to reach a better stopping point in the story, before leaving us on cliffhanger.
FOR THE SAKE OF NOT BEING SO NEGATIVE!! The emotions of the ending were great. I cried at Ouchi's stabbing. His and Fukuzawa's embrace scene tugged on my heartstrings. Also Mykola being conflicted over Fedya's ''death'' was

@@shiroq6714 dw, you're not the only person who had a few gripes. I agree with the pacing point, my personal main complaint is the lack of any permanent damage to any of the main cast, compared to how many times they try and bait you into someone dying. Gunshot into cut for dazai and Mrs you won't die, both are fine. Kunikida explodes, loses his arms, he's fine, akutagawa outright dies, he's fine 8 episodes later, fukuzawa has a sword pierce through him, no prob bud, rampos throat gets slightly cut, no worries, tachihara gets impaled, all is well, hes a vampire. If sigma truly died after exchanging information with fedor by touching his hand, that means moderate boyloving activities have brought upon the same amount of deaths of non background characters as physical combat with murderous intent in one season (though not permanent). Sigma falls from a trillion kilometers, gets stabbed, and possibly died because he touched a man. I think that sentence sums up my gripes with this show pretty well. All the "oh he's so dead BUT ACTUALLY" just lost their effect

@@stealthy9156 Heavely agree with the point you're making. For a Seinen anime, BSD has overused the stale "the butler was the killer''trope way too much. Same goes with the obvious fake outs that are almost never even remotely impactful. Akutagawa is an exception since he seems to actually have passed, but the ADA basically has cheat codes in the face of "Thou shall not die" with plot armour added on top of it. Despite all that, I still love this goofy show for some reason.

  • @mimikyuliker946

You have to admit that dazai’s plot was horribly mishandled. I actually really liked the mersault escape arc, but the ending ultimately undercuts it in retrospect. Dazai had Fyodor in checkmate from the very beginning. Every emotional moment between him and Chuuya, from when he drowned chuuya to when Chuuya shot him in the head, was a pure performance. As someone who was genuinely moved by these moments, I can’t help but feel cheated.
Hell, I can barely feel anything when Nikolai holds Fyodor’s arm because for all I know, he’s faking it too and actually the whole thing was just a show to trick dazai. I can already see dazai saying “actually I knew you were just pretending” with how the writing is here.
Not to mention, this arc still undercuts Atsushi as a character. I was thinking that atsushi would have a real hero moment here, where he proves himself against Fukuchi just as he did against Akutagawa at the end of the first arc, but he still seems to be a helpless puppet in his own story. I also can’t say the cliffhanger interests me all that much, considering it comes out of literally nowhere and all of a sudden we have gods shooting dragon ball z ki blasts at one another. Akutagawa seems to be back with zero consequences and I wouldn’t be surprised if they somehow get Fukuchi to come back from this. I can only hope the manga will do this better. It already has some content the anime omitted (thus far only Aya’s feelings towards her father but more could be on the way)

Idm Asagiri changing protagonists but man is Atsushi getting like…NOTHING. There’s so much in the Light Novels and main manga that really show how Soukoku’s friendship goes against everything Fyodor has said abt them and that it’s the complete opposite of shallow and that includes like 70% of the scenes at the end of this arc and then it turned out to be a performance this whole time? Like, hello???

I really enjoyed this season but ngl the several layers of "I outsmarted your outsmarting" got on my nerves, but I don't really care for Dazai as much so the whole Soukoku fake out didn't affect me, tho I did think it was a bit underwhelming for it all to an act, it was hella fun to watch people lose their minds over Dazai tho 😂 I thoroughly enjoyed that.

It’s that one little part that really lead to me disliking the ending. I hate characters w/ too much plot armour. Surely at least one other person can agree that Dazai’s death would be really interesting on Atsushi’s end in terms of character development

It wasn't bad, but compared to manga it was rushed. Like bro, they animated chapter 109 (Dazai's "death") ep after chapter 101. That wouldn't work honestly, when chp 101 came out is made whole fandom go crazy, few months later chp 106 and finally 109 made fandom go crazy again. Also they cut out many important things. As a manga reader I was dissapointed, If I would be anime watcher only I would be amazed. The season would be way better If they gave things that manga readers loved (Fyozai's Language, egg scene, Akutagawa's smile, Atsushi's breakdown, Sigzai moments and more), also If they would wait and made pacing right. For example not doing chapter 109 one ep after 101 but wait two or Three episodes.

    • @delphilily
      @delphilily 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

I personally think the pacing was so good especially since the manga's pacing is actually the same if you go back and read it without having to wait a month for each chapter. Though one scene or two might have not been exactly the way some people wanted, it's easy to tell that overall they treated it with a lot of care and love. Especially since Asagiri himself supervises the production too! Like I get minor flaws but I have to admit minor deleted scenes that are not too crucial are okay especially since they exist in every anime
It's good to focus on the well done part while having constructive criticism respectfully. I hope you enjoy season 6 whenever it comes out, mate
