Fun fact about Pittsburghers, they bleed Heinz 57 Ketchup.

Contacts are often expensive, can get dust and dirt in them really easily, and if you don't wear them regularly and aren't used to them you might need to use eyedrops often, which can run and ruin makeup. Costume contacts are also made of a thicker material and can be less comfortable for long use, and you usually shouldn't fall asleep in them, so you need to go out of your way to take them out before sleeping. So unless you're someone who wears contacts on a regular basis or need them for a specific costume it's a lot of extra work and cost.

Also (commenting as I watch) there is no better judgmental/stern look to give a person than the one you give someone over the top of your glasses

I've worn contacts for larp for over 20 years and I gotta say your concerns are mostly exaggerated. I can't comment on the makeup as I've rarely have it on. But I only wear my contacts at larp. I don't wear them regularly yet I can wear them all day and even sleep in them for the entire weekend. There are disposable contacts where you can wear them a week straight and you just throw them away after using them.
The dirt issue lands squarely on having due diligence with personal care/hygiene. As long as your hands are clean and you rinse your contacts well before and after you put them in then you should be fine. I've never had an issue with dirt or dust getting into my eye/contact while wearing them. The only time this had happened is from not rinsing off the contact as well as I should have. Again that's on me.

Hello, it's me, that person who only has one pair of glasses. Only because I broke all of my spares while LARPing. I usually go with contacts now because I'm just tired of them falling off, breaking, having to clean them all the time because of dusty campsites, etc. I like to get cosplay lenses because they tend to be a bit thicker and way easier to take out at the end of the night. And I can get rainbow lenses or other funky colors!

As someone who works in a library, I give that look constantly.
Unfortunately Zenni doesn't make those frames in the video in my big head size, and I actually can't do contacts due to how much astigmatism correction I need.

Fantastic points all around. I think the biggest factor of decorum appropriate eyewear is- effort. Are you trying to get your kit to fit the game or are you just being lazy/cheap?
Also I've suspected for a long time why people don't wear contacts is because their afraid of putting something on their eyes. This has at least validates those concerns.
Great episode as always and I look forward to more of these.

No. It's a larp, not living history. Even in reenacting when people argue about glasses, I place safety above appearance and accuracy.
