I'll be honest, if you point a gun at my head and tell me to tell the difference between a Chinese, Japanese, or Korean woman, I'd just tell ya to pull the trigger. But I'm not racist towards Asians or anything, I think this way of all races. Really, about all I could tell you about someone's race is their skin color and the shape of their eyes. Ask me to go anywhere beyond that, and I could not tell you.

My sister commented that she thought it was racist that the character Lily from Modern Family, who is of Vietnamese descent, was played by an actress of Korean descent. I had to laugh. I asked if she thought it would be racist if an actor of Greek descent played a character of Irish descent. I’m sure her response was insightful and compelling, but I had stopped listening.

SNL has been good ever since Seth Meyer's left as head writer.
The entire sketch was built around that last joke, and that's genius.
And built around Twitter outrage culture and forced diversity in modern media, but, yeah, it's pretty obvious that they did this to mock the notion that Idris Elba should be James Bond.

It's a commentary about political correctness going too far, and how the Twitter outrage machine is holding everyone hostage now because we're all afraid to offend various special interest groups.
We need to be able to see it, accept it, and make fun of it to change it. This skit isn't suppose to lead to depression; it's to show behaviours and attitudes that need to go away. If you have any of those beliefs, stop doing them. Then you will be apart of improving society.
The same can be said for the Millennial Millions game show sketch. Also, with word that they're going to have a black woman as the new 007, that last joke about Idris' character knowing the answer to "Can you play James Bond?" with Kenan's character seriously doubting it hits harder.

At 3:17, Keenan says "David lets start with you.", but Lawrence is the one that goes. Although it was an error, the quick thinking with camerawork helped avoid people noticing this by not showing the names anymore. Thought that was cool.

That's because a lot of these idiots are in media so they amplify tweets of every moron who gets outraged by something stupid & it spreads like wildfire. They have blue marks, a lot of followers and then also write articles about it. I really wish there was an option to just filter all this crap out so I never have to even see it. I'm left of center but even I'm totally sick of these people constantly pushing their ridiculous opinions down my throat. I actually believe this is the biggest reason Trump is president now. People voted for the guy who is the direct opposite of this & doesn't give a flying fuck about who he offends. Them doubling down on what they're doing when called on it is only going to help him get re-elected because the absolute majority of normal people find this crap absolutely ridiculous & totally obnoxious. No one wants to listen to some jackass condescendingly telling them how they're morally superior to you due to their insane beliefs.

I think it's just a case of the phenomenon of extremes being the most visible. I think most of us would agree that minority groups throughout America's history have been oppressed while also agreeing that twitter and other online communities can take outrage too far. There is a middle ground that a lot of us live in, but the middle ground doesn't make headlines. Also, a lot of times the "twitter outrage" articles are designed to get clicks; if you do some research on the articles, they're often only based on less than 5 actual tweets. Simply put, outrages awakens strong feelings in us most easily and thus gets clicks.
