It's been a blast watching you go through this and gushing about all the classic *_Squaresoft_* when they were reslly pushing the "Hollywood-like cinematic" feeling of games in their perspective choices like the Dutch Angle PoVs, the zone transition conversations, and the prerendered FMVs. It was a REALLY intense time for games finally starting to get more credibility as art. Don't feel bad about being unfamiliar with stuff and stumbling through things a bit. A lot of us who played this as kids also did so when printed official strategy guides releasing in tandem with these games was a SUPER common practice, so it just sort of becomes embedded knowledge all at once. (I was 12 when this came out, so it's hard to remember ever not knowing things about this). Encounter zones function as "hot spots" where you can grind through a region until they go cold and the enemies stop spawning if you're trying to get a bunch of experience of one of the days/areas with the amount of ammo that you have. Since players have to learn through trial & error on their first playthrough, an especially good thing about *_Parasite Eve_* is that it's designed to incentivize a second playthrough with its own crazy EX Dungeon to allow your second playthrough to focus on getting the absolute utmost out of the combat system, and doing things like maximizing your inventory management for getting as many Tools & Junk as you can. That's also WAY easier when you have a better idea of which equipment you want to save them for, and how you want to assign traits from doing your first playthrough. The only unfortunate thing to me is that I don't know if we'll ever get a cool remake of *_Parasite Eve_* the way we have for things like *_Resident Evil_* or *_Silent Hill_* simply because… it's set explicitly in a _barely_ pre-2001 NYC, which makes it a little bit tough for portraying a big crisis in a more realistic way.
Happy new year! As a small QoL for an improved tuning up experience, you can store all your extra weapons and armor on the storage, and tune them while talking to the guy at the counter. There's a tune up icon in that menu, so you can see all your items without needing to witdraw them to your personal inventory space.
Omg, Maggie, in the hospital, when you used the tool to move the anti-poison to your CM Vest, it automatically un-equipped the CM Vest, so you've been running around without wearing armor, lol. But hopefully you caught on before day 5 playthrough. You didn't play yourself, I think it was just bad game programming, but something to keep an eye on when you play old school games, double check your armor and weapons. Your CM Vest also has an ability called "Auto" which is auto-using a Medicine from your inventory when your HP gets low, so it's not your HP restoring from leveling up.
Similar thing happened to me when I was at the chinatown level. I didn't realize I unequipped the vest until a couple of battles in, was wondering why I was getting absolutely wrecked all of a sudden lmao Any modern day game would ask you if you want to equip the newly upgraded vest to avoid such an issue
Glad you like the pre rendered cutscenes so much, thats what PS1 Squaresoft excelled at. If you like this you’ll love OG FF7, 8, and 9. FF8 in particular, despite many not digging the story (i personally like almost all of it) is worth playing if only for how incredible its pre rendered cutscenes are.
Watched this whole video in one sitting. It was so exciting to watch. I'm impressed that you beat bosses with no armor on. I would definitely say you got the combat down. That was some crazy dodging going on. Hope you feel better soon!
Between the plane crashing on the roof and the small spider fight after the boss it's just such an intentional back to back troll from the the devs lol. I remember dying on that spider too on my first playthrough.
@1:03:30 when you're questioning if you skipped that room or not, the answer is yes. If you went in there during the attack on the station you would have had a mini-boss fight against the dog creature that killed Torres. You would have gotten a rifle from that fight, also I don't know if this would be considered backseating or spoiler but go back in the room and search around the upper right corner there's a vent that opens into a hidden room.
41:15 and 2:22:00 This is how the damage works in Parasite Eve: there's weapon damage and the number of shots you fire per action. The thing is, the total damage is divided by the number of shots the weapon fires per action, plus some extra damage. So, for example, if a weapon has 300 damage and it fires two shots per action, then you deal 180 + 180 damage per action (60% per shot, 120% total), if it fires three shots per action, then you deal 126 + 126 + 126 damage per action (42% per shot, 126% total), if it fires five shots per action, then you deal 75 + 75 + 75 + 75 + 75 damage per action (25% per shot, 125% total), etc. So it's not a good idea to have a weapon that shoots too much, you'll spend more time standing around shooting and it'll eat your ammo faster. Especially if it's a rifle, it's a slow weapon and it will lock you in the firing animation for a long time. So yeah, you made your weapon worse.
St. Francis _is_ a hospital in New York, but it's waaaaaay out in Flower Hill, in Nassau County on Long Island. They might be referencing the historical St. Francis Hospital, which used to be in Mott Haven in the Bronx. Interestingly, on the in-game map, they put it right around 1 Av and E 14 St, where the East Village meets Kips Bay. There _is_ a hospital right about there, Mount Sinai Beth Israel (which I was _born_ in, that was a weird moment when I first played this game back in 1999), but just north of that on the map is Bellevue, one of the most famous hospitals in the city, so, I have to think that's why this fictional hospital is where it is on the PE map.
the incident that happened in japan is actually a reference from the movie/book so this game is technically a sequel or continuation to the book/movie.
@@alexshinra6722 It depends on how you look at it - as the original novel got that film adaptation, a radio drama adaptation, AND a manga adaptation. Of those, the film is the easiest way to get the story outside of Japan even if it's not the strongest version, it helped expand the exposure of the story even before the game came around as a psuedo-sequel.
The slanted angle that caught your eye is called a Dutch Angle. It's used in cinematography to create a sense of unease or disorientation for the viewer.
That moment when we were in the middle of fighting a boss and you took a moment to sip tea and almost dropped your mug when you found out it wasn't a cut scene, the fight continued. 🤣
Historically, the M16A2 had burst fire so putting burst on your M16A1 would convert it. Give Wayne enough scrap and he'll forge an ultimate gun of your choosing. It's 300 scraps BTW.
Your armor is the thing giving you random heals at times, its the special effect under the armor that says "Auto *". It is auto using your medicines in your inventory at a certain % of health missing. Hope that helps.
Holy moly, all the decisions in this run made me feel the vibe and excitement of playing Parasite Eve again, I mean even though they weren't very successful, it's just how we played the first time. I was very excited, I look forward to the next day!
I appreciate your self awareness on your gameplay grading. One thing I've noticed (watching many let's plays from a variety of people) is if you really want to improve is to be PRO ACTIVE in recognizing your faults. It helps learning much faster than playing a game over and over without changing anything.
Another great video Maggie and isn’t the story getting juicy now😎. I’m always sniffly as well, so I’m right there with ya😂. Towards the end with all those deaths, I think you were making the enemies a lot harder than they actually were....but games are like that sometimes, I did that playing Sonic Mania last night😂. Anyway hope your trip was awesome, keep up the good work and happy new year to you too👍.
At 39:47, I usually go through the whole game with the assault Riffle. Also, fun fact. This game has a NG + mode. So you can keep choosing the same gun each game, and then fire nukes out of the barrel of your assault rifle. BUT THERE'S A CATCH !!! They wouldn't give you that kind of power freely unless.......
At 55:52, Don't stress the junk too much. The things you get are truly amazing. But Wayne requires 100 - 150 pieces MINIMUM, before you get to make any choices about the end result. So that's basically all NG + stuff.
Naahhh... Assault rifles in this game look more like a sawed-off Barret chambered in .38 with subsonic ammo... Cumbersome, weak and slow. Want to have fun? Add 15 points to AT and the rest goes into range until you have +150. Use any good pistol with 2x ROF until you acess to the MP5 (she missed it, btw). Keep 3x ROF and add blast from the shotty in the sewers. It will carry you until you get the better version at the museu. 1st Stike and blast are good enough until double command from M8000. Actually, don't do that... It will ruin the game for you. A SMG with 200+ range?!? You will never be able to use any other kind of weapon ever again...
Yeah, watching this made me want to play again myself, maybe revisit the Chrysler building in my last save. I miss the combat but it's not convenient to play my PS3 anymore 😓
Rare trading cards can only be found on the second playthrough, in the Chrysler Building bonus dungeon. And Wayne will make an ultimate weapon if you give him 300 pieces of junk. He'll ask if you have a preference or want to leave it up to him. He'll make whatever class of weapon you ask for, but it won't be as strong as the random weapons he makes.
When I wanted to experiment, I made a backup save at the bottom of the list in case I wasn't happy with what I did or overlooked something. Screwing up and learning from it is half the fun.
I stopped using the pistols in this game as soon as I got the M16, never went back to the pistols, I either stored them or took their special bonus stats or abilities and put them towards the rifle.
Hey, just some tips for your run: - Recovering PE: When you change armor in battle it resets the PE recharge rate, so it starts recharging alot faster. Yes, it's a clitch and it helps alot in the later game. - Before discarting your weapons you should transfer the bullet to your bullet box - The amount of damage you cause is splitted between bullets, so a weapon that fires x5 causes the same damage as one that fires x1. If a weapon damage is 30, a 1 shot version will cause 30 damage and the same weapon shooting 3 bullets will cause 10-10-10. so in this case less is more! Great video series btw, really love this game!
Don't forget that you can Sort your inventory with 1 or 2 commands in the menus I recommend testing the effect of weapons before transferring them to your main weapon
Yeah, the greater that rate of fire number, the longer you're locked in place unable to dodge incoming attacks. And the total damage does get dispersed among shots. Higher rate of fire might be good for weapons like that mini UZ, but not for slow shooting weapons such as pistols and rifles. And "Energy Shot" power is tied to your current PE amount, so if you're aiming for that big damage you should wait for PE gauge to fill.
1:53:00 For some reason you started dying because you don't have your armor equipped! Not sure how that happened, but it seems you did the rest of the chapter without it anyways. That's rough. I hope you see this in time for the next chapter.
It's ok to make mistakes on a first playthrough especially when doing it blind. You will learn what to do eventually and put it to use on future playthroughs. That's what added replayability to these games. Back in the day we didn't have games releasing as often as we do now and we had to get a lot of mileage out of these games.
Posted 49 seconds ago??! I'm coming in hot! 🔥 Loving this playthrough, Kasta. This game is on my list of top 10 all-time fave games. It's almost a pity that it came out around '97. It would have been that much better if it was released for PS3 or later consoles.
Yo Kas. If you ever get around to reading this I gotta question for you. You've played a lot of games both older and modern. Do you have a favorite era? Like do you prefer how older games told their stories or do you think newer games are doing a better job at it?
I'm not really partial to any particular era nor do I have a specific preference for how a story is told at this time. I'm just happy I've had the privilege of experiencing so many different and diverse games 😊
If you really think about it, it doesn't matter if you threw away the tools as long as you didn't discard the weapons with all the stat bonuses. Just carry over all that to the new weapon. The game really gives you a lot of tools throughout so it's not entirely a big deal
MUCH better job with exploration, and also using tools! Unfortunately, this caused you to remove your own armor accidentally at the beginning of the hospital level... 🤣
The reason your energy shot isn’t as powerful sometimes, is because it is based off of how much parasite energy you have. More energy=more powerful energy shot
Such a classic game! Happy New Year and cheers! Enjoy the rest of this crazy game! Also, if you're a reader, check out the novel this game follows up to. It's very good!
I just discovered your channel because of this game and I already love it and subscribed. One thing I wanna say though is that you do not have to play a game in any specific way to "honor" it. Just by seeing how much you love the game and are excited to continue playing is enough for any fan to be on board with you. Of course that knowing the mechanincs and using all the toools the game gives you might make it even more enjoyable, but do not feel you need to know everything right of the bat, or apologize for not using a feature or mechanic... we also didn't know anything on our first playthrough... that said, let's kill some mutated cells, shall we?
Once you get the MP5PDW keep it and upgrade it with all the good stuff using tools..its considered the best gun in the game..and n-suit is a keeper until late game
I my opinion parasite eve is easy and very linear for multiple playthroughs. After completing you will have EX game where you will need to complete new location for true ending
3:02:20 I doubt anyone would criticize you getting rid of the grenade launcher or anything. We want you to use the system however you like; we just wanted you to use the system, for your own good! But regardless, you always manage to find your way through to the end 🥰
26:33 It's so wild seeing your brain work lol, but I guess we can blame that on you being sick 😅 32:00 Haha, oh my god Kasta. It goes to Wayne. You just never took it out of storage. You took out your Tool and called it a Toolcard 😅
You seemed confused about the energy shot ability, and why sometimes it doesn't deal as much damage. It's one of the best abilities if used right, but you want to use it when your P.E energy is full. The higher the P.E energy, the more damage it will deal out. It actually helped me a lot during the hospital boss battle.
You're doing amazing against these bosses, the park worms and the hospital boss took me alot of tries If you're thinking about a Newgame+ playthrough I'd definitely recommend it. It unlocks an alternate area for Day 5 that unlocks something special if you complete it..
Don't worry , your fans (me included) may be vocal about mistakes , but we all know that is part of learning in video games , we still waiting for you new uploads :)
I'm glad to see you say this. Us criticizing her is the same as your friend standing over your shoulder at an arcade telling you what to press as you're wailing away. We still love her gameplay, and fans know she still magically brute forces her way through every obstacle anyway, proving that following the gameplay rules the way we want is totally unnecessary 😂 As she said, she's a hack-n-slasher and appreciates us helping her learn how to pay more attention to gear and strategy.
Maggie u dont heal when u level up.. your armor has auto-heal on it!!!!!! :D so when you almost die u heal.. :D of course when u r wearing an armor that is.. :D :D :D
Damn, that sucked at the end. Dying to that 1 baby creature is terrible. There were some moments at the end of this game where I was genuinely getting annoyed by having to kill a boss over and over lol
Gameplay style matters little to me: Everyone has their own way of playing and that is what makes games fun to come back to, especially in older games. In short, as long as you can get through the fights your own way, its fine. My interest is only how you take the story in. That being said, you being willing to change it up on gameplay is quite nice as a showcase of the effort you put in to these playthroughs.
Me: Proud of Kasta for utilizing tools
Kasta: Goes half the episode with no armor equipped
Haha, we're still proud of her for always finding an artificial hard mode for herself 😅

Hey, just some tips for your run:
- Recovering PE: When you change armor in battle it resets the PE recharge rate, so it starts recharging alot faster.
Yes, it's a clitch and it helps alot in the later game.
- Before discarting your weapons you should transfer the bullet to your bullet box
- The amount of damage you cause is splitted between bullets, so a weapon that fires x5 causes the same damage
as one that fires x1. If a weapon damage is 30, a 1 shot version will cause 30 damage and the same weapon shooting 3 bullets will cause 10-10-10. so in this case less is more!
Great video series btw, really love this game!

Yeah, the greater that rate of fire number, the longer you're locked in place unable to dodge incoming attacks. And the total damage does get dispersed among shots. Higher rate of fire might be good for weapons like that mini UZ, but not for slow shooting weapons such as pistols and rifles.

That's what added replayability to these games. Back in the day we didn't have games releasing as often as we do now and we had to get a lot of mileage out of these games.
Posted 49 seconds ago??! I'm coming in hot! 🔥
Loving this playthrough, Kasta.
This game is on my list of top 10 all-time fave games.
It's almost a pity that it came out around '97. It would have been that much better if it was released for PS3 or later consoles.
Lol. So funny she got rid of the UZI after 1 encounter when speed runners praying to get that weapon. Nice vid as usual. Keep it up.
@Kastaclysm I feel it. And I'm guessing your favorite genre is horror?
Hey, great job taking down the boss in one try! Twice even thanks to that silly spider.
😆😆
That dramatic Inventory is full, 😆 .. got us twice, haha
All trading cards go to Wayne! You just forgot to have it in your inventory when you talked to him!
Dobby is a free trashcan
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Another day , Another day of a Kasta upload! ❤️
FYI the fighter jets were F-18s (the same ones in Top Gun Maverick). The F-15 is not a plane capable of being carrier-launched.
Once you get the MP5PDW keep it and upgrade it with all the good stuff using tools..its considered the best gun in the game..and n-suit is a keeper until late game
Just another day with my favorite Gamer Girl Kasta uploading new video 🎉🎉 I'm definitely loving this playthrough, Kasta. This game is awesome!! 💯❤️🎮🕹️
No armor! Kasta!
The previous incident Eve talk about is the movie of Parasite Eve which happens before the game.
Note to self don’t wear white pants, makes you not trustworthy apparently 💀
I my opinion parasite eve is easy and very linear for multiple playthroughs. After completing you will have EX game where you will need to complete new location for true ending
Hope she realizes that at the end
Power through the last couple in-game days, Madame Sniffles 🤧…For the likes and the views and the algorithm, you got this!!
Don't worry about the lost tools and junk too much. Every single one of us made the same mistake on our first playthrough haha
Not everyone there's people who knows how to play
Maybe everyone made mistakes, but this same mistake? Doubt it 🤔
Happy new year Kastaclysm !!!!!!!!!!!
Happy new year 🍾🍾😝😜😛😝😜🤪🥰 kasta cat 🐈 and ginger
3:02:20
I doubt anyone would criticize you getting rid of the grenade launcher or anything. We want you to use the system however you like; we just wanted you to use the system, for your own good! But regardless, you always manage to find your way through to the end 🥰
2025 will be the year Kasta's immune system gets upgraded 😂✌️🙏
Well her mids dont mind the sickness or the game!.
26:33
It's so wild seeing your brain work lol, but I guess we can blame that on you being sick 😅
32:00
Haha, oh my god Kasta. It goes to Wayne. You just never took it out of storage. You took out your Tool and called it a Toolcard 😅
Tool cards, trading cards, same thing, right? 😅
No need to apologize! Play the game however you like and enjoy!
This year 2025 is going to be a magnificent year for you Maggie!
Another amazing playthrough Kastaclysm ❤❤🔥🔥.
proud of you Kas
Happy New Year and get better soon!
1:41:00 Lmao playing ultimate ping pong with a monster
Happy new years ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯👀😍
You're doing amazing against these bosses, the park worms and the hospital boss took me alot of tries
If you're thinking about a Newgame+ playthrough I'd definitely recommend it.
We still love her gameplay, and fans know she still magically brute forces her way through every obstacle anyway, proving that following the gameplay rules the way we want is totally unnecessary 😂
As she said, she's a hack-n-slasher and appreciates us helping her learn how to pay more attention to gear and strategy.
@ShadowPhoenix82 yeah I just feel bad that she's gonna have a harder time late game from all those trashed tools
Kastaclysm Awesome Video Today!!🔥🐐🐐💎
What a goofball. 😂
🔥🔥🔥
THE GIRL IS NOT WEARING ANY ARMOR !!!!!!
Have you ever played Clocktower?
there’s a text to speech mod you can use for this game and it will read aloud all the text.
You don't get your health back from leveling up
Let’s go episode 4!
Maggie u dont heal when u level up.. your armor has auto-heal on it!!!!!! :D so when you almost die u heal.. :D of course when u r wearing an armor that is.. :D :D :D
Hey I love your shows
You might like Legend of Dragoon or Legend of Legaia
Should try Techmos Deception at some point too. Will mess with your head.
Damn, that sucked at the end. Dying to that 1 baby creature is terrible. There were some moments at the end of this game where I was genuinely getting annoyed by having to kill a boss over and over lol
That freaking squiggly spider creature thing 😭
2:07:26 max level is 99
Soho is in men in black two with the light of zartha
Its the restaurant sign I just watched it
Its the restaurant sign just watched it
Ger well soon 🙏
yayy pt4 👀
It's childish, but I would have included a toilet asking if you wanted to drop an item and then have the screen briefly fade to black if you said yes.
Yes requires a large amount of junk grinding/farming
