i feel like aespa have reached their fullest potential so far this era. Ever since Spicy era members have just been getting more confident and more in their element/identity as a group + sound
@@Stratosphere07 YES they have a no skip discography I stan many groups from 3rd to 5th gen and they are one of the groups have one of the best discographys
I’m usually not a “summer concept” girly, but this summer Kpop is getting exciting, including KIOF’s chef’s kiss of a summer concept comeback yesterday!
love the summer releases so far, and i cant wait for all the other upcoming cb's this month !! i have yet to see anyone make a video on it yet, but hopefully we'll get to see a winterosy video on rv's comeback among others lol
it would've smashed in another comeback date, it was just bad timing XD fortunately ive has been receiving more love than hate this era while further establishing their sound and versatility so i think heya/accendio was a success all around!
I'm still not over aespa's album drop, and then RV is dropping Cosmic, wit Taeyeon comeback around the corner. Yes, there is indeed always something to look out for in kpop and even if not, there is so much great stuff to cherish & look back to.
oh i love the RM and rpwp appreciation here. joon is a freaking genuis you can't convince me otherwise. indigo is my comfort album and when it cam out i legit used to be skeptical about him ever topping her and when he said that his next album is gonna be better than indigo, i genuinely considered that a big statement coz indigo is literally the definition of perfection. and now that rpwp is out, i can without a doubt say that only HE can outdo himself..the hold he has on the understandings of music, i don't think anybody else does. the cohesiveness of the album is insane. like you can just tell this track was meant to placed after this. this album deserves so much but then again, it won't get the flowers it deserves. all the media outlets have named his album as of the bests of 2024 but what can we do, racism and xenophobia still prevails. and the thing is, he notices and he cares. he's posted about all the articles and all on his stories and it fills my heart to know that atleast he knows there are people who enjoy his work wholeheartedly and acknowledge his art. i truly genuinely respect this man so much broo🙌
🙌🏼 Yes. I fully expected the other three artists that winterosy discussed here. But I'm so surprised and pleased by this choice. I was wondering if I was just stuck in a different time with my appreciation for this album. I'm not a particular fan one way or the other. But I try to give a listen to most of the new releases under the kpop rubric and when these came up I said, damn. This guy is like an old wise man in a 30 year old's body or something. It's very cool to see your commentary too.
i totally agree!!! he did post on his Instagram story one day that rolling stones put rpwp on their list of best albums of 2024 so far. i wish his other works got the same about of recognition but im still happy that it's getting its flowers
As someone who has IVE as both my favorite & most listened K-Pop act, their section of this vid was genuinely exciting; leaving winterosy's outstanding editing to a side, the evolution of their view on IVE felt so familiar with how I enjoyed them until I've IVE made me a fan that awaited for more, and I've MINE locked me in (unpopular opinion Baddie was that girl idc). They have been my first (and only so far) K-Pop concert and I can say that I'll *cherish* that experience and the girls with their songs for a long time
JOON GETTING PRAISE !!! i can't believe it omg . Going in this vid ,i wasnt expecting to see him.but yes you're analysis is right , he really is in the wrong industry and i think he already knows it . I think he's aware that the kpop title will hinder him from alot which is sad and heartbreaking . He's truly one of kind . Thank you winterosy for your words and appreciation for joon and rpwp . It made me tear honestly
The kpop tag really REALLY holds RM’ Right Place Wrong Person back. A lot of ARMYs are working on it and the album has now been listed as indie and alternative in some platform. The CORRECT genre. It will expose it to a more appropriate audience. The label kpop also held J Hope’s solo works back. This is why Yoongi and his producer brain went for a different name for his solo work in the past. Suga for BTS. Adjust D for his solo very hip hop work. The rap line are getting traction outside of Kpop. But if K-pop’s framework for “achievements” is awards and chartings, serious music lovers and fans stay away from Billboard ranking and Grammy awards. The more obscure the better. Critical acclaim shy away from numbers and competitions.
I honestly think the kpop title is so limiting in general. I've seen so many people avoid many incredible songs/albums simply because it's labeled as "kpop". Like I honestly don't even know how to define kpop because everyone has a different opinion on what kpop is. Is it a genre or an industry? Do kpop songs have to be in Korean? Does kpop necessarily have to be pop music? RM once said he doesn't want to limit his heart or his music to the term kpop. And even though BTS is popular I'm still waiting for them to really get recognized as the true artists they are.
@@crystalsnow1138 No matter how many times people say it is an industry and not a genre, the fact that so many kpop stans love to complain about how such and such song does not SOUND LIKE KPOP says all I need to know about the reality of the use of this term in discourse about kpop. To me it is a certain feel and sound. On some more abstract levels, kpop is some kind of brand. It represent a certain quality music video, a certain aesthetics visually and sonically. It is a reputation. Which is the source of how many of BTS members’ solo album fell through the cracks. The US music streaming platforms have boxed all Korean music that managed to cross over to their side of the world under the kpop label, and their algorithms trapped everyone clicking on one of them in a circle of kpop h*** While those who would absolutely love them never get to see or listen to them. Not because they don’t want to, but because the algorithm decided they won’t.
ARTMS album was so good omg. First of all, virtual angel is absolutely gorgeous. From the mv to the vocals this is something that feels representative of Loona. Every song is just a whole experience to listen to. The album is cohesive but each song sounds like it has its own universe. I'm also glad that in general every post Loona release has hit it out of the park (Loosemble with Girl's Night, Chuu's Strawberry Rush, Yves with Loop and ofc ARTMS with Dall!
Ngl ARTMS pretty much bring back the enjoyment for me - all the groups I listen to are at least a few years old now and none of the newer faces excited me much, I would listen to the good songs but not look deeper into it. Even the other post Loona releases while I’m happy for them I’m not particularly invested, but ARTMS really debuted holding nothing back.
It makes me so sad because I just know that if Joonie was a western artist he would get his grammy nomination for RPWP. It is exactly the right type of experimental that the critics would like, but god forbid giving a kpop artist an award that is outside the kpop category they like to make to cage the artists. On the bright side, all of the armies in my circle that are music lovers appreciated the album so much, and aren’t just mass streaming it for the sake of numbers. Just like any of his previous works it holds such a special place in our hearts and will be on our playlist for a long time, making and impact in our lives. And I think that is exactly how he would want his work to be consumed, with sincerity!
Some of Aespa's and IVE's releases have been phenomenal, but I was so happy with your sections on RM and ARTMS. Both those being my top albums of the year so far, I can’t get over how much their music is just so good. RM's album is just so introspective and most of the songs tend to get me at random times, making their impact more refreshing overall. He's such a profound artist and he does it without even wanting the glory - making his music underated, compared to BTS (and probably even more than some of his member's solo music). ARTMS reminds me of what I loved so much about Loona's music - utilizing the use of the member's talents, the production work, and their way to be unique with world building in music. Rebirth got me hyped for their prereleases and when the full album came out, it exceeded my expectations; I had missed this sound from them. I'm glad I'm not the only who appreciates this.
I wasn't expecting you to mention Rm and Rpwp, but I'm so glad you did. The album is an absolute masterpiece. I seriously recommend you to listen to his debut album Indigo as well, it's my favorite album of all time. I also would like to mention that despite him not having the kind of numbers others such as Jungkook have, his album is still pretty successful for what it is. As you said, with him being a Kpop idol and releasing such an album his work is bound to have fewer numbers than some other Kpop artists, but his album has been critically acclaimed and pretty well-received and praised also by people outside the fandom.
the ive section has me jumping up and down 😭😭 it makes me so happy to see people recognizing how amazing their discography is post-after like + how versatile they really are! ive is honestly one of the main reasons i’m still into k-pop; they always bring sm to the table and i never get bored of them 💗
RM AND RPWP MENTIONED!!!!!!!! you don't know how much i admire this man. like indigo was flawless, loop worthy album already and now we have rpwp as well. a feast for me🤭 but on a serious note, what you said about the album and him is actually so true. the album is so well produced/written/made, it actually feels unreal. i know many people have said it before and some probably say it on a daily basis but rm is a lyrical genius. like MUSIC is the RIGHT place for him. HE IS THE RIGHT PERSON AND MUSIC IS THE RIGHT PLACE. but sadly, as you said, he won't get what he rightfully deserves for this album because western industry simply doesn't want a well deserving talented asian artist near their white dominated industry.
The way you are speaking about these artists and the editing with the music in the background idk im just getting super emotional😭this video feels like the END of something omg
so real with rm one! like the way i didnt expect and yet expected the album to sound like this. when i first listened to the album, i immediately thought it sounded like tyler the creators album, but smth was different. and that smth was rm. idk if it is his voice, rythm, flow or just vibe overall, but he definitely makes his own mark on the songs he makes, and im just so greatful he finally, after all the hard work and fame, has the resources and opportunity to do, what truly fullfils him. he deserves it sm and i am so glad as a fan i got to touch a part of him through his truthful and personal artwork
No like I literally listen to RM when I am not feeling right as a person. His works always makes me look at myself in a new light. Not everyone would be able to appreciate his music and that's just sad and also I am so effin thankful that you mentioned ARTMS
why am i getting emotional hearing you talk abt rpwp? 😭 i’ve been a fan of bts for a long time, and know that namjoon’s music in particular always ends up being a little more underrated, so it’s nice hearing you emphasize how amazing the album is. it’s just such a daring and cohesive piece of art that embodies who namjoon really is. i’ve already accepted that some may not like it as much as his past work but to me, it’s the kind of album that cannot be ignored. it’s such a good example of the artistic liberties that can be found in kpop, but at the same time, i wouldn’t consider it a kpop album at all.
You're really the best kpop channel out there, actually pointing out great artistry. I was blown away by RM too my respect for him has gone way up, I understand now how so many idols are actually held back by their personas
Aespa will always have my respect for always releasing well thought through music through well thought through rollouts. Their consistency to deliver interesting music is so admirable.
YES TO RPWP!!! I've been an ARMY since 2017, and since then I've always checked out most of the members' solo releases - RM's & Yoongi (Agust D)'s spoke most to me tbh. Both are intentionally philosophical in their works, and I appreciate that they have substance in their art. (Yoongi's song "People" is a work of art). Mono itself is so dear to me, I've listened to everythingoes every time I felt sad. Best song in the world. Indigo itself is a mature album, an act of looking back at your 20s, very bittersweet and proud and self-assured (I think you'd enjoy it as well)! But RPWP truly did take the cake for me. It feels the most grounded, and yet highly experimental at the same time. It feels like a breath of fresh air
Seeing IVE live was one of the best dessicions I've made in my life hands down. I am obsessed with their music, i would go as far as to call them peak K-Pop and these girls were just as amazing if not better live than i could have ever imagined. For aespa, this is a group were i know no matter what release they have, the visuals will be top tier and it is almost infuriating how good they are. RMs Solo work rarely is up my alley, same with this album, but when "Lost" was released is still listened to the full album and watched the M/V and i caught myself being so intrigued in the music video. I am so happy that he has the ability to make the music he wants to and i can only hope that the right audience will find and appreciate his work. I remember being so so surprised at how brilliant the Virtual Angel M/V was and that it is hard for us viewers to watch it since ARTMS are Angels and you cannot look at Angels directly + the "Birth" M/V was so so good as well. Just the visuals alone will be the reason for me to keep an eye on them and maybe even become a fan in the future. When it comes to music and artistry in Kpop i will forever be a proud Dive, ReVeluv and MY and these groups will always be my first picks when introducing someone to some good Kpop music. I am also very very exicted to keep up with Rescene and while the only have two songs so far, it is one of the most promising debuts i have seen this year, so if you are looking for smaller groups to be a fan of, that are close to Groups like Red Velvet, maybe give them a listen :) And of course, thank you so much winterosy for making my day so much better and giving us another well produced and thought through video
I think it’s the very first time a cried to a K-tuber video. The ending is so emotional, it triggered the position I was in before listening to K-Pop and I can say it loud and clear K-Pop is ART. And winterosy please don’t die, society needs you.
this video is so beautifully made, from the visual editing to the audio experience, i actually found myself tearing up at parts. i think this genre doesn't get enough credit for its true gems, and this video highlights that concept perfectly. i really appreciate the art you have made while recognizing some art you love. there is so much beauty in art and there is so much passion behind projects like the groups covered here. i think there are so many people highlighting the lows of kpop recently, and i haven't been able to reflect on the good parts. i love this video
i think 2023 was the year IVE went from basic kpop star to a POP STAR which sst another boundaries and new create a new stepping stone for a diverse and larger audiences ,but its not about Popularity wise its about their MUSIC i think their first 3 title track are so kpop ,like its a signature kpop song which sometimes can be boring but luckily its not the case here , with the release of kitsch its so clear for me that theyre trying the 2010s aestehtic and im here for it ,and IAM continues to do the same for this rebrand ,I HAVE IVE Attempt of renaissances the 2010s aesthetic is a major succes While IVE MINE was less 2010s on the music side ,they nailed it on the fashion !thats why i like IVE so much they really committed into the aesthetic they chose they didnt just throw around random things that were trending THEY INFLUENCE
literally so proud of ive as a group 2023/24, they've accomplished so much as young stars and it's obvious they've been improving in live performances and teamwork. and that's outside of the incredible music, concepts and styling! i've ive and i've mine have been eras where they've really gotten to shine and show their talents even more.
IVE's 1st full album made me familiar me with them and it had to be the first kpop album that I used to listen fully. and with their 1st EP I've MINE they made it clear that they are well aware of their situation and ready to experiment and serve discography with variety. but the release of their IVE switch EP is the moment I turned to ive fan. I can't agree more with your statements with aespa. they could easily do the half of the effort and still secure all of the profit but they didn't. we need more groups committed to their craft like aespa and IVE.
I being able to safely watch a kpop opinion video on this channel and know that I will not only agree but appreciate the actual video presentation. Kpop has faded away a bit for me the last few months for a few personal reasons and whatnot, but after Jin came back I am keeping up again and there have definitely been some absolutely beautiful releases.
This video had me gagged. The editing, the script, the everything was just perfect! I’ve never seen so much effort put into expressing love for the genre of kpop, you really put into words how I feel about it (especially on RM’s album, I got Tyler the Creator vibes too lol)
I HAD to press like on this video. While we disagree musically, conceptually the message in this video resonated with me so much!! I've been trying to get out of kpop for years now but somehow I just keep coming back because sometimes there are real gems in this community. You worded everything very eloquently and I'm very impressed in the amount of effort the editing took ❤
There's nothing I love more than when a person shows me all of the incrideble things about something that I've always precived as vapid or unspecial. This video is such an excellent showcase of your opinions and appreciation for these artists, you actually do flawless work in presenting WHY you love and appreciate them so much. I was never a big fan of IVE, Aespa or Loona, I thought they were nice but didn't really listen to them. I didn't view them as artists who have the potential to go far artwise, and thought they werre nothing too special, But you have really made me change my point of view, and you can be sure that I will take my time to listen to all of the songs you've mentioned on a deep level. As for RM I'm actually a big fan of his, he is one of my favorite somgwriters and rappers. I would go as far as calling him a poet more than a songwriter, because some of his pieces are straight up poetry, and present the love and gift he has for the art of words and lyrics. But actually when I took a look at some of his teasers and pre-releases for this album I thought it's very different from his previous works and that it's probably just not my cup of tea, so I never sat down to listen to it. But after hearing you I most definitely will. Thank you bro, Iv'e been watching your content for a long time and you only get better, and I love seeing a fellow kpop listener who appreciates and loves the art as much as I do.
Srry to butter in, but as an absolute fan of IVE and a huge aespa enjoyer, for each I'd like to suggest you some bsides (leaving their amazing big title tracks aside) in case you haven't listened already and if you were curious! : For IVE: Ice Queen, Classic, Royal and Blue Blood/Holy Moly (I literally can't choose) For aespa: BAHAMA, Lucid Dream, Mine and Welcome To MY World Regardless, have a good one listening to these 2 and more great K-Pop acts! 👋✨
Ngl, Im surprised bc how did u think was aespa nothing special??? 😳They had a whole ai concept cyber futuristic sound hyperpop hiphop rnb pots and pans experimental sound. They literally break apart taboo song structures and create their own trends too. Also, they started the Y3K/Y2K trend with Next Level (arguably Black Mamba). Their songs are so aespacore yet so unqiue from one another, complex, creative and innovative sounding. *They have the vocals (the vocal belting, the RNB groove, the vocal technqiue and the vocal versatility). They have decent raps (maybe to kpop standards but it's good enough, and better than most, the flows are great, and they delivered the raps well. Im still waiting for a full Giselle rap like her Synked Out pre-debut solo where she can go harder all-out). Honestly, their dance skills are sooo good and Black Mamba, Drama, Supernova and Armegeddon era proves it.* Their stage presence was only hindered by the poor-choreo they were given during Savage to Spicy era along with the stress caused by the amount of hate they received during their debut moment. They debuted at the wrong time when other big groups were at its peak and their fandoms were super active, making them an easy target from hate. Also, I believe people weren't ready for a futuristic/ experimental sound (which SM has been mastering since snsd and fx) yet, which made it even harder for Aespa. Also, it was COVID so Aespa mostly performed in front of nothing for so long. And I know the gp are more used to easy, simpler and less stimulating songs in general. But im glad people are starting to notice Aespa more and I realized more and more people are open to experimental songs and less so of generic sounding music.)
ive and artms dont get as much love as they should just cause theyre not from the big 4 (yes, 4) when for these 2+ years they have been active and im so happy when people recognize how amazing they are
i cannot emphasise enough how rm is just an ARTIST. mono was my favourite album and i thought he couldn't top it, then he released indigo and i thought it couldn't get better, and now he's done it again with rpwp. that man is genuinely a genius, and as sad as it makes me that his work goes wayyy underapppreciated, im so grateful that being part of bts has given him the opportunity to create these amazing works that are so close to my heart. with no bias and no expectations i cannot encourage you enough to go give him a listen. it's not even about streams, i just want as many people as possible to be able to enjoy this gift.
i never heard loona or kpop in general before but they really caught me of their release birth and virtual angel, i fell in love with artms concepts, their mv, their melody, it's feel so fresh
seriously thank you for telling me to listen to right place wrong person. im a huge tyler the creator fan and admittedly i often stay away from bts releases because theyre often not my taste in music but holy shit. ive now added every single song in this 11-song long album to one of my playlists i am blown away
If you like this release and enjoy this kind of "old-school-alternative-hip-hop-mix", I think you may also like Indigo by RM and Jack in the box by J-hope.
Watching this video was so thought-provoking! I have such a different relationship with each of these artists-I knew from the first lyric on Eleven that IVE was going to be my group of all time, the only one that's had my whole heart since SNSD, where ARTMS is the first thing from the Looniverse that has reached into my heart so profoundly-but i share with you a real excitement and joy about all these artists, and kpop in general. A lot of the most popular songs i hear and see are not my favorite, but while usually that could make me annoyed, this year i feel so spoiled by the earnest creativity and brilliance of the music I've fallen in love that i dont even register! What a wonderful time it is to love music. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and feelings, they are such a delight to hear!
I'm stoked about your commentary about RM's album. When I heard a few of the songs, even when they weren't necessarily what I'd listen to regularly, I just immediately noticed how musically interesting they were and how much talent went into this project. When you asked us who expects an asian guy with an alternative hip hop album to make rounds in the west. I mean, I think it's way way more possible now than it was 20 years ago? I know that sounds like a long time if you're... 20 years old. But, idk. I'm encouraged. Not even canada? West coast u.s.? Like you said, I don't want to encourage less than honesty. So, we'll have to see. Westerners are not as accustomed to the rapid release format as kpop fans (including western kpop fans) are. It might take longer to marinate than his bts fans would need. Let's see. 🙏🏼
I would go as far as saying that even 20 years ago no one would expect the biggest group in the world to be Asian and predominately sing/rap in Korean. I personally didn't that coming 20 years ago.
Mad respect to you winterosy 💜 Thank you for acknowledging the true art that is RPWP. Joonie is a true musician and im glad more people can see it! Also this video is made so well!! I love the music in the back as you comment on the albums, sounds so cool
As a DIVE, I have to admit I'VE IVE has changed my thoughts of this group. I used to not like them that much due to controversy, but now I'm in love with their songs, personalities and qualities. IVE MINE and IVE SWITCH prove that I am not wrong for stanning IVE!!
Off topic but how is no one talking about the editing of this video? The little “da da da da dun dun” to end the Ive segment, and the little lead ups when you were talking Bout a group not disappointing you. It was so clean!
frrr, when ive released those 3 songs in a row, i was like ok at least one of them is going to disappoint me, but OMFG they came out each one after the other AND they were all just perfect.
idk why but this video made me cry. I guess it's nice to see someone go in depth to appreciate the artistry of this groups and also understand what about them I love so much
Mannnn~, everytime you release a video I know my standards will be met from the editing to the way you present the story. You have manage to express Ive in ways that I just love as they are my favorite group.
Seriously THANK YOU for this video. As someone who is always in and out of the kpop world for over a decade it’s hard to keep up. The last couple years I’ve been kinda lost since Loona ended and I had a hard time wanting to re-engage with it all. But now I can jump into not only Artms’ album but give Aespa and IVE a bigger listen than I have in the past. Seriously. Thank you.
thank you for making that ive section! im their biggest fan and the way you told their evolution made me feel like i was listening to their releases for the first time all over again, it was wonderful 💖
i casually listen to ive,, but wow, your storytelling and description of them + their discography just makes them much more interesting to me!! seriously , amazing job
in my opinion this is the best video on your channel. the immaculate editing combined with your thought provoking commentary is just so incredibly well done. i feel like i'm enjoying a masterpiece of a documentary.
So the realistic soft-spoken female voice is for high-effort video essays, and Mr Robot is for opinions/recaps/shitposts? Also I was going to hunt you down and make you do 50 Chuu hearts if the last one here wasn't ARTMS, so good job (I love all of LOONA but DALL changed me)
I love your analysis. I’m glad i get to hear a perspective that is finally being brutallly honest and with such good perspective to the music especially finally being a fan that isn’t usually a bit delusional to this art and usually sucked in with bias. Your view on Rm’s track made me feel so happy because i feel like i hear no one talking about it and especially with relating to Tyler as he’s one of my favourite artists too. Much love
IVE IVE IVE! And even more so after the concert because HO HO HO. Absolutely favorite group of all time for me and I'll defend them to the end. Almost made the ad hoc decision of buying last minute tickets to the Amsterdam stop and renting a car just so i could experience what I had in Berlin. Even the Seoul Encore was enticing. Songs are great, members are great, the content is great ❤
this is an entire video of PEREFECTION, the way I am able to feel something when I just watch it. winterosy, the way you talk about Kpop is just so beautiful
(not a hate comment) As an army, I'm so happy to see RPWP on this list. But i just wanted to say that as an army it's really funny how u say that most of us won't like this album because it's not "kpop" when armys themselves are the biggest haters of that word whenever associated with bts. One of the reasons armys love and stan the boys is that bts is not your typical kpop group and some armys even hate to be termed as a kpop stan. Armys are working very hard to promote this album and your statements kinda undermines all the efforts we've been putting. Bighit is NOT good at promoting BTS so there is a lot of pressure on armys to promote their music everytime. This album not being recognised in the west is true but saying that "it never will be" is not true. There was a time when nobody would've thought that kpop would break into the western market but armys and bts made it possible. BTS have now gone from the biggest "kpop group" to the biggest "boyband" in the world right now. We are very adamant at promoting their solo work too and I'll take your statements as a challenge to make sure that RPWP gets the recognition it deserves!!!
It's my first time watching a video from this channel, and I have to say that I'm so in love with the way you're presenting each groupe and their songs It's so beautifully done ! Moreover, I agree with every point you made and I'll never thank you enough to make me discover RM's work because It's truly magnificent and I regret not giving it a chance earlier.
your editing skills are disgustingly stunning like i was gagged throughout the entire video like having kitsch play in the bg before exploding to the front to showcase the song omddd CHILLS and your script is absolutely perfect, so precise and so addicting to follow along with. i totally agree with you on ive and especially aespa, the album was okay but the build up and the three pre-album songs (supernova, licorice, armaggedon) was the most experimental and thrilling thing ive seen from kpop in a while. i'll defo listen to RMs album now now like youve convinced me and hopefully others, im actually suprised i didnt see anyone use any of his songs or talk about his songs anywhere since i would expect army to push all solo bts music, but i think that is actually good because this means he could be starting a new clean slate in his music career, im excited for him and his music. ive never watched any of your videos first but im so happy this is my first, i'll defo sub to you and keep watching new content you make
i kinda felt that 'i'm in the corner of the room watching' meme about kpop. recently i do follow the releases but the music in 2024 didn't excite me this much. its fascinating to see people outside my kpop bubble tell their observations on kpop twitter talk. (as a army) i saw my whole timeline being obsessed with rm's album release. i had talks for days about the songs and production and the lyrics but i will agree with you. the majority will not appreciate this album the way it is deserved. although i might add that more outside people getting interested in it, especially since rpwp got added to multiple 'best album of 2024 so far' lists from music critics. i learned to keep my excitement low though, we all know the western music industry. i am pleasantly surprised with aespa this year. in the beginning, i couldn't quite get them, but i think sm does (at least) a good job with their brand and style. they are recognizable in this industry, and sometimes thats even more important than all the talent you can have.
In this day and age when my attention span is so short i can barely watch a 10 minute video. Its so amazing to be captivated by a Winterosy production. I love how immersive these videos feel
I'm sorry but the way this video has been edited is the best thing I've seen on the internet today.....every single detail about every song the bgs and the voice its perfection.ty for making this video
Great video! Welcome back! I really appreciated you mentioning the Sailor Moon references in "Accendio!" Sailor Moon is very close to my heart (I even have a tattoo lol) and I made a whole episode exploring that connection. 🥰
why do i feel so emotional watching this video? you speak so beautifully on a subject i find so much joy and happiness in and it makes me proud to support so many good artists in the kpop industry thank you so much for making such a gorgeous video, the editing and narration are incredibly well done🤍
kpop is art, very true. every comeback lately, i've been gazing at the m/vs with sparkling eyes, its like a gold mine here right now. truly fuels my passion towards design and art and my will to pursue it.
literally such a well executed video - the editing, play on words and flow - had me tearing up with the music transitions n all my ult groups i missed you winterosy
I’ll be honest, I am a very casual kpop listener. Most of the songs I listen to are the ones that go viral. This has prevented me from actually listening and finding out what kpop can be emotionally. The first time I felt truly emotional listening to a kpop song was Either Way, and watching this video made me cry. You’ve opened my eyes to the world of kpop, not just the music, but the *art* of kpop. I’ve had so much trouble listening to full albums, my short attention span is to be blamed, but this motivates me to crack a book open and listen to these full albums with open arms! If anyone has some recommendations of underappreciated kpop albums or songs, I’ll be happily adding them to my playlist :). - thank you
my bad for making this comment so long! i ramble easily and this video made me realize that my kpop knowledge is Super Shy, Magnetic, Butter, and Supernova. (I kinda want to listen to stuff that I “love” not just “like” you know?) I’ve been yearning for more depth in the music I listen to, and I hope this video starts my journey of finding more music that has more depth and emotion than the song I currently listen to. Of course I’ll continue to listen to Magnetic and Love Lee, but at least I’ll have more choice for when I want to turn my brain off or on when it comes to music. p.s. i loveee the way this video is edited 💕💕 it’s so articulate and clean which make my brain and eyes VERYYY happy :)))
i’d suggest listening to other newjeans songs such as Hype Boy or Attention! also maybe check out Girl Front by Loona Odd Eye Circle and Stereotype by StayC, based on the songs you mentioned you’ll probably like these! :)
watching your videos feels like watching a cinematic MASTERPIECE the editing , the audio quality the voice over the script the filters everything in your vidoes is top notch keep going and im loving rhe femal voice over.
I am actually surprised to see rm here , when indigo came out, you didn't mention it, so I thought you normally don't listen to BTS much . And I guess I was right . I am glad you stumbled upon rpwp , it is a masterpiece ❤
okay everyone talking abt how life is better whenever she posts or smt like that , but guys LETS NOT SLEEP ON THE EDITING LIKEEE? OH IT ATE THE CLOSURE TO THE IVE ONE WAS SO CREATIVE YET SIMPLE LIKE . I FEAR THIS ATE
If I weren't already of a fan of all these artists, your video DEFINITELY would have pushed me to give their music a listen. What a wonderfully passionate and well edited video. Great job!
some members of bts (specifically 3) are really held back by being in bts imo. as a group they cant approach certain topics & genres, but even as soloists because theyre from bts, there's a sense of expectation for their work and there are still certain topics they cant approach bc it will be deemed as "scandalous", or like you said, the work will be daring but go unnoticed. its quite frustrating especially seeing the state of bts' music now lol
i don't follow bts, so i'd love to hear more of your thoughts on this if you're willing to share! which members and what kinds of projects do you see their potential in?
I mean it kind of works both ways, if they weren’t in bts they couldn’t be able to express other sides of themselves. Sure, RM couldn’t get an album like RPWP released with other bts guys, it had to be a solo work. However, the serious and edgy side of Namjoon isn’t his only side - we are talking about a man who wrote Dimple, 13430, etc. You guys like to talk about them as if there is such a huge dichotomy between bts and solo personas, when you should be looking at it as just different colors that make one personality. If it weren’t for bts, a lot of his songs, and with it his messages and his art that he wanted to share with the world, wouldn’t get published because these aren’t works that fit his solo style, they don’t fit in the hiphop genre that he himself is limited to because he isn’t a vocalist. For example, no way would he be able to release singularity (which is basically his poem), because it needed a soulful vocalist to convey the emotion, the lyrics couldn’t be conveyed with a hiphop track. They are not caged by the group, they are caged by the fans and the general public that are confused because someone isn’t just one way or another. They are in a position where they can do both, because it will both be appreciated and it will both be released to the public, even the works that are unusual which is a privilege itself, and we should be more than happy that they can do so. This way they are able to express the whole spectrum of their emotion, not being boxed into a certain genre.
@@jp42293 let me go on a bit of a yapping session 😣 first we have namjoon, like winterosy mentioned. namjoon is without a doubt the member with the most understanding and passion for music, in my opinion. his writing style really shines on his solo work (specifically indigo & rpwp). my personal favorite skill of namjoon's has to be his writing. pretty much every solo song of his has captivated me so much as he has a very introspective & intellectual writing style, his writing is revolved around identity & society. he tackles themes of solitude, self-worth, impostor syndrome and sooo much more. and i think the alternative hip-hop sound he chose for his newest album is the best way of conveying these themes, which .. just isnt possible to do in bts. and as winterosy stated, (most) armys dont care for it since it's not kpop & and (most) outsiders don't care since "its the guy from bts", so unfortunately it goes unnoticed😣 next is suga. i think his work in bts tends to be a bit all over the place. technically, it's good, however his production style to me seems to be a bit non-existent? while with other popular k-pop producers & idol producers, i can usually tell when they had a leading role in a song. (it just bothers me personally because i like analyzing producers' work but it's not a huge issue). what i really like about suga is definitely his writing tho! unlike namjoon who is introspective & intellectual, suga is a character writer. he has a raw, emotionally-charged approach to topics. often dropping slang, innuendos, and downright lewd topics into songs. (this is mostly on agust d tho, which is also my favourite). which is not possible to do in bts. and i think this image, compared to the one he has in bts, suits him wayyyyy better. and i think if he was just a soloist, we'd see a LOT more interesting work from him than we have during his time in bts. same issue as namjoon tho, (albeit to a lesser degree), i think his solo work tends to be overlooked because he's in bts. aaaand lastly is jungkook. unlike the other 2 where i think they're being held back from reaching their full potential in production & writing, i think jungkook's just held back vocally. he's definitely not the greatest vocalist of our generation but i personally ADORE his vocal tone. and when you listen to his singing on live + his solo album, you can see he has a lot more range than shown in bts. i would kill to hear a full r&b album from him, personally. in bts i feel like he's kinda .. confined to one tone, & one tone only. i also just feel like he wants to break away a bit from the "completely public-friendly idol persona" but i dont think he'll ever manage to do it without receiving criticism for it i tried to keep it as brief as possible but yea in general i feel like all 3 of them are in the wrong industry 😭

oh i love the RM and rpwp appreciation here. joon is a freaking genuis you can't convince me otherwise. indigo is my comfort album and when it cam out i legit used to be skeptical about him ever topping her and when he said that his next album is gonna be better than indigo, i genuinely considered that a big statement coz indigo is literally the definition of perfection. and now that rpwp is out, i can without a doubt say that only HE can outdo himself..the hold he has on the understandings of music, i don't think anybody else does. the cohesiveness of the album is insane. like you can just tell this track was meant to placed after this. this album deserves so much but then again, it won't get the flowers it deserves. all the media outlets have named his album as of the bests of 2024 but what can we do, racism and xenophobia still prevails. and the thing is, he notices and he cares. he's posted about all the articles and all on his stories and it fills my heart to know that atleast he knows there are people who enjoy his work wholeheartedly and acknowledge his art. i truly genuinely respect this man so much broo🙌

* agust d

If Pink Tape is the Blackout of Kpop, IVE'IVE is the 1989 of kpop: nothing groundbreaking, just astonishingly well-made
Some of Aespa's and IVE's releases have been phenomenal, but I was so happy with your sections on RM and ARTMS.
The way you are speaking about these artists and the editing with the music in the background idk im just getting super emotional😭this video feels like the END of something omg

why am i getting emotional hearing you talk abt rpwp? 😭 i’ve been a fan of bts for a long time, and know that namjoon’s music in particular always ends up being a little more underrated, so it’s nice hearing you emphasize how amazing the album is. it’s just such a daring and cohesive piece of art that embodies who namjoon really is. i’ve already accepted that some may not like it as much as his past work but to me, it’s the kind of album that cannot be ignored. it’s such a good example of the artistic liberties that can be found in kpop, but at the same time, i wouldn’t consider it a kpop album at all.
i love ive n aespa, seeing u talk abt them was great, but i deep down wanted an artms segment and OHMYGOD u delivered
RPWP is album of the year, Rm really dropped a masterpiece
I am also very very exicted to keep up with Rescene and while the only have two songs so far, it is one of the most promising debuts i have seen this year, so if you are looking for smaller groups to be a fan of, that are close to Groups like Red Velvet, maybe give them a listen :)

this video is so beautifully made, from the visual editing to the audio experience, i actually found myself tearing up at parts. i think this genre doesn't get enough credit for its true gems, and this video highlights that concept perfectly. i really appreciate the art you have made while recognizing some art you love. there is so much beauty in art and there is so much passion behind projects like the groups covered here. i think there are so many people highlighting the lows of kpop recently, and i haven't been able to reflect on the good parts. i love this video

Honestly, their dance skills are sooo good and Black Mamba, Drama, Supernova and Armegeddon era proves it.*
Their stage presence was only hindered by the poor-choreo they were given during Savage to Spicy era along with the stress caused by the amount of hate they received during their debut moment.
But im glad people are starting to notice Aespa more and I realized more and more people are open to experimental songs and less so of generic sounding music.)
ive and artms dont get as much love as they should just cause theyre not from the big 4 (yes, 4) when for these 2+ years they have been active and im so happy when people recognize how amazing they are
your IVE section convinced me to stan IVe, they have been killin it since debut
i cannot emphasise enough how rm is just an ARTIST. mono was my favourite album and i thought he couldn't top it, then he released indigo and i thought it couldn't get better, and now he's done it again with rpwp. that man is genuinely a genius, and as sad as it makes me that his work goes wayyy underapppreciated, im so grateful that being part of bts has given him the opportunity to create these amazing works that are so close to my heart. with no bias and no expectations i cannot encourage you enough to go give him a listen. it's not even about streams, i just want as many people as possible to be able to enjoy this gift.
THE MOMENT I SAW THE NEWS BROADCAST FROM LOST! I JUMPED FROM MY CHAIR I LOVE YOU WINTEROSY THANKS FOR GIVING RPWP ITS DESERVED FLOWERS
i never heard loona or kpop in general before but they really caught me of their release birth and virtual angel, i fell in love with artms concepts, their mv, their melody, it's feel so fresh
seriously thank you for telling me to listen to right place wrong person. im a huge tyler the creator fan and admittedly i often stay away from bts releases because theyre often not my taste in music but holy shit. ive now added every single song in this 11-song long album to one of my playlists i am blown away
If you like this release and enjoy this kind of
"old-school-alternative-hip-hop-mix", I think you may also like Indigo by RM and Jack in the box by J-hope.
@@crystalsnow1138 Good point.
Seriously. Thank you.
rm on his igor stint. kinda iconic tbh
thank you for making that ive section! im their biggest fan and the way you told their evolution made me feel like i was listening to their releases for the first time all over again, it was wonderful 💖
It’s always nice to see someone talk positively about IVE, thank you so much for this video.
Winterrosy i really like the way you present your content. While watching the video i felt at peace. Thanks for making these types of video.
i casually listen to ive,, but wow, your storytelling and description of them + their discography just makes them much more interesting to me!! seriously , amazing job
in my opinion this is the best video on your channel. the immaculate editing combined with your thought provoking commentary is just so incredibly well done. i feel like i'm enjoying a masterpiece of a documentary.
Songs are great, members are great, the content is great ❤
if people at my funeral start playing “off the record” and i don’t wake up from the dead to scream the lyrics then i’m really gone you guys
this is an entire video of PEREFECTION, the way I am able to feel something when I just watch it. winterosy, the way you talk about Kpop is just so beautiful
(not a hate comment)
As an army, I'm so happy to see RPWP on this list.
I really agree with all the points you made and your feelings towards this genre thanks for making such a high quality video as always
This has to be my favorite kpop video ever, because all these groups saved kpop for me as well. Aespa ate!
In this day and age when my attention span is so short i can barely watch a 10 minute video. Its so amazing to be captivated by a Winterosy production. I love how immersive these videos feel
I'm sorry but the way this video has been edited is the best thing I've seen on the internet today.....every single detail about every song the bgs and the voice its perfection.ty for making this video
ive and aespa are personally my favorite girl groups rn, I have loved (almost) every single release these groups have put out 😭🙏
literally no bad songs
real
THANK YOU
I did not see anyone talk about this masterpiece Album from RM.
thank you for changing that ❤
You really had me tearing up at the end
I loved everything you had to say and I really love the way you speak to your audience🩷
You are so incredible🥺
Great video! Welcome back!
I really appreciated you mentioning the Sailor Moon references in "Accendio!" Sailor Moon is very close to my heart (I even have a tattoo lol) and I made a whole episode exploring that connection. 🥰

why do i feel so emotional watching this video? you speak so beautifully on a subject i find so much joy and happiness in and it makes me proud to support so many good artists in the kpop industry
thank you so much for making such a gorgeous video, the editing and narration are incredibly well done🤍
kpop is art, very true. every comeback lately, i've been gazing at the m/vs with sparkling eyes, its like a gold mine here right now. truly fuels my passion towards design and art and my will to pursue it.
literally such a well executed video - the editing, play on words and flow - had me tearing up with the music transitions n all my ult groups i missed you winterosy
omg no yeah! after watching this video, i was so determined to thoroughly go through all of these albums and i was not disappointed!
watching your videos feels like watching a cinematic MASTERPIECE the editing , the audio quality the voice over the script the filters everything in your vidoes is top notch keep going and im loving rhe femal voice over.
I am actually surprised to see rm here , when indigo came out, you didn't mention it, so I thought you normally don't listen to BTS much . And I guess I was right .
I am glad you stumbled upon rpwp , it is a masterpiece ❤
stop bc i almost cried when u were talking ab ive they're my ult for a reason!!
unrelated: i'm now an artms stan
okay everyone talking abt how life is better whenever she posts or smt like that , but guys LETS NOT SLEEP ON THE EDITING LIKEEE?
It's going to be really interesting to see what BTS' music will be like after they complete their military service.
This way they are able to express the whole spectrum of their emotion, not being boxed into a certain genre.

let me go on a bit of a yapping session 😣
first we have namjoon, like winterosy mentioned. namjoon is without a doubt the member with the most understanding and passion for music, in my opinion. his writing style really shines on his solo work (specifically indigo & rpwp). my personal favorite skill of namjoon's has to be his writing. pretty much every solo song of his has captivated me so much as he has a very introspective & intellectual writing style, his writing is revolved around identity & society. he tackles themes of solitude, self-worth, impostor syndrome and sooo much more. and i think the alternative hip-hop sound he chose for his newest album is the best way of conveying these themes, which .. just isnt possible to do in bts. and as winterosy stated, (most) armys dont care for it since it's not kpop & and (most) outsiders don't care since "its the guy from bts", so unfortunately it goes unnoticed😣
next is suga. i think his work in bts tends to be a bit all over the place. technically, it's good, however his production style to me seems to be a bit non-existent? while with other popular k-pop producers & idol producers, i can usually tell when they had a leading role in a song. (this is mostly on agust d tho, which is also my favourite). which is not possible to do in bts. and i think this image, compared to the one he has in bts, suits him wayyyyy better. and i think if he was just a soloist, we'd see a LOT more interesting work from him than we have during his time in bts. same issue as namjoon tho, (albeit to a lesser degree), i think his solo work tends to be overlooked because he's in bts.
aaaand lastly is jungkook. unlike the other 2 where i think they're being held back from reaching their full potential in production & writing, i think jungkook's just held back vocally. he's definitely not the greatest vocalist of our generation but i personally ADORE his vocal tone. and when you listen to his singing on live + his solo album, you can see he has a lot more range than shown in bts. i would kill to hear a full r&b album from him, personally. in bts i feel like he's kinda .. confined to one tone, & one tone only. i also just feel like he wants to break away a bit from the "completely public-friendly idol persona" but i dont think he'll ever manage to do it without receiving criticism for it
i tried to keep it as brief as possible but yea in general i feel like all 3 of them are in the wrong industry 😭
@@emaaa78787 I like what you said.
this video is so well made i'm in shock. i didn't know you could outdo yourself! not only is the editing amazing, but the commentary is wonderful too. informative, personal and so so accurate. i love this so much!!!
the transitions makes it so better oh my god
