Wheel fell off? Easiest 2 minute repair on an electric or battery mower

This probably works on Sovereign, Qualcast, Mcgregor, and Spear and Jackson mowers.

Finding your video was a real bonus for me today. My Spear and Jackson has had a runaway rear wheel for some weeks. Your video showing how to replace the gripping washer was spot on. I've used your advice and now I have 4 wheels on my wagon - lawnmower. Thanks🙂

This is almost the same lawnmower as the mcgregor which you can get from Argos and this fixed my wheel which would always fall off. Fortunately for me the tooth lock washer just became lose and wasnt snapped like in your video. I just put it back in place using an 8mm socket as you shown in the video and the wheel is now secure.
Another tip, once I undid the caps latches, I found it easier to just flip it over and use a screwdriver to lift the plastic out of the wheel hub from the rim edge.

Hi Owen....amazing find. Spear and Jackson are effectively Argos (MK9 2NW is code for Argos...Milton Keynes..etc). Make sure the roller is properly attached as people have had problems with them...and generally make sure all screws firmly attached etc. Parts can be very hard to come by for Spear & Jackson, especially the likes of batteries and chargers but as it seems you only need a charger you might get lucky. You already got lucky finding that lawnmower in working order just needing a tiny clip!

@@SirPrancelot1 Hi Owen, sorry only seeing your reply now. With Argos now gone from Ireland it doesn't make things any easier. Try Coreservice (if I post their full web address it will likely get deleted so Google Coreservice...it's a UK website)....I believe they ship to Ireland but even they may have a sparse enough list of parts available. Spear & Jackson (Neill Tools) do operate independently but only as a Hand Tool manufacturer.

We have the corded version of this I prefer petrol mowers but then again it’s not a bad mower for what it is definelty better than brands like newer flymos
My auntie has this exact one to replace her old flymo pac a mow as the motor went bang and for what it is it’s really decent haha

I used to prefer petrol, but now I prefer the silence of an electric, the battery makes it a bit easier for small areas.
