3:45 this is an interesting disconnect a lot of people have about luck. Being in the right place at the right time once is luck. If you do it consistently, thats a skill. Putting yourself in a position to get lucky is an important part of all games
yeah, luck can only give you the opportunity to make a choice - you still have to actually make the choice yourself to take advantage of that luck, and in something like basketball you also have to physically have the skill to pull off the lucky opportunity

The bigger the sample the more skill becomes a factor. In any luck influenced skill game. (Hearthstone, poker, backgammon, e-sports)
The notion of in a single game yes you can require a lot of luck but in the long run and a huge sample the skill rises to the top

I tried to pay POE a bunch of times. It seems like one I'd love if I got into it but my experience every time is exactly what dog described lol
It’s really fun once you understand the game which takes a lot of time, I don’t remember how I got interested but I love playing it, there’s so much variety as you can imagine, like infinite Customly crafted builds, but you gotta know what you’re doing, the game is so unforgiving

Even when you understand the game they have been catering to the streamers that play 12 hours a day for years so it will take a new player so long to experience the end game. Tough to get into now

Ofc if you are just a living jar of bear with a fucking console, that doesn't wanna improve anywhere, whether it's just a game, or their irl job then yeah, poe is not for you.
But every normal person who strives for better things even with 3-4 hours daily will be able to get to the "streamer" level investment after like 2-3 weeks.
Besides, there's so much content and guides, in multiple languages.

The fun in PoE is just to follow a build guide the first few times around and then you pick up on all the mechanisms as you go w/o "studying"
You can actually tell how luck impacts the game if you take the percentage of won matches and won games and do some calc
