hello sorry for the late reply, don't buy any part until you remove the cover, if you see oil contamination inside then you must replace those parts, if there is not oil contamination maybe your problem is wiring or the eCVVT, if you need help or the diagram to check your wires let me know thank you
I was trying to replace the intake vvt solenoid. Now I know where the exhaust one is and I replaced it. Though I cannot find where the intake solenoid is. I asked the dealership and they say I don’t have one... odd. I have a 2015 Hyundai Sonata 2.4l GDI. Now I changed the two camshaft sensors and don’t know if my P0011 code that comes and goes will be enough.
That’s true, only the exhaust has the oil driven actuator. On the intake it uses a sensor switch deal that has two carbon brushes on it. It’s all on the round cover he shows in this video. I don’t know why they went to that design. The seal is prone to leaking which causes failure of the CVVT on the intake cam side.

El tiempo de tu vehiculo trabaja con la precion del aceite, por esi es importante ponerle el aceite recomendado para tu vehiculo, Mucha veces personas le ponen aceite mas grueso o espeso y eso ocaciona que el fluido del aceite no es el correcto hacia los phasers del camshaft, que bueno que las lograste encontrar. Pero primero revisa si estan dañadas las de tu vehiculo antes de comprarlas..

Hi, sorry, I don’t speak Spanish. I have a 2017 Sonata with the 2.4 and I got a P2088 code. The engine power is way down and it is idling high at 1200rpms. The oil control actuator for the exhaust looks clean. The intake side doesn’t have one, it has that cover and carbon brush sensor on it. Would the P2088 code come up if that carbon brush switch you show in this video failed? I am going to pull the cover tomorrow and look for oil or any other obvious failure. Thanks for the help.
Hello possible cause for cide p2088 is short to ground in control circuit, poor connection or damaged harness or E-CVVT motor. The biggest problem on this vehicles is false contact on the brush inside that cover, check for any oil contamination.
@@DuartesAutoTipsandTricks thank you, I pulled the rubber plug and it seems dry inside. I bought a brand new cover and I’m going to see if maybe the brushes are trashed. All the wires look good, but I can put a meter on them to make sure. I also bought a cam sensor, I read some times they can freak out the CVVT system.
@@adrianramirez8922 Hey Adrian. I replaced the intake cam cover, but the plug was intact and wasn’t leaking. I also replaced the cam position sensor. Neither fixed the problem. That leaves the CVVT cam gear actuator. So no easy fix. When I was a Porsche mechanic we rebuilt a lot of 911 air/oil cooled engines. The engines that were run with synthetic oils would have extreme gear and chain wear and they all had to be replaced. It’s because synthetic oils don’t cling to spinning parts like conventional oils do. The engines we took apart that ran conventional oils had almost perfect chains and gears and we could reuse them. I believe using straight synthetic oil in these motors is causing the CVVT actuators to fail early. After I fix mine I will be running 3 quarts conventional and 2 quarts synthetic.

Hola Yumi Nova me podrias dar mas imformacion de tu vehiculo. que motor traes y que codigos te dio el escanner, la mayoria del tiempo no tienes que cambiar los camshafts, la mayoria de las veces es falso contacto, aceite de motor sucio o aceite muy grueso, tambien es comun que fallen los solenoids que controlan el fluidpo del aceite acia los camshafts..

@@alexandredantas89 hello sorry to reply late, code P0010 possible causes are short to ground in control circuit, poor connection or damaged harness or ecvvt assembly, if you watch the video check that part there has to be no oil contamination inside, oil contamination causes poor connection code P0011 description is A camshaft position timing-over advance or system performance bank 1, remember if code P0010 is present and there is a false contact on any wire or oil contamination on the ecvvt this will trigger code P0010 and P0011. @@100ega8 al solenoid le llega corriente de ignicion del fusible (sensor 2) que esta en la caja de fusibles en el area del motor, y la pcm manda la señal de tierra, tambien revisa que tu aceite no sea demaciado grueso, es importante que uses el aceite que especifica el manual o tu tapa de aceite, tambien es comun que aparte de las partes que menciono en el video revises el solenoid que esta al lado del otro cam, es comun que tambien falle.
Decia porque yo renplace la tapa similar a la que tu renplazaste y el connector de dos cables Los dos van a la PCM por esa razon comentaba que cual era la d la PCM Al sensor o el sensor ala PCM

Most of the time the camshaft sensor is not the problem, on this new vehicles the timing is controlled by oil fluid, so wrong oil viscosity, low oil level or problems with the vvt solenoids or cam phaser, if your vehivle is the same as the one on the video check first that cover, probably you have oil contamination preventing the function of the cam phaser,
its possible to be the same, remove the cover and check inside if you see oil inside that's your problem, don't buy any part until you check inside, most of the time that is the problem , oil contamination causing false contact on the E-CVVT

I just replaced the cover and both plugs but the code keeps coming back and there is oil still coming inside the cover, these parts weren’t cheap. Do you know why the oil is still entering? Thank you
hello, the only place i buy this parts is from the dealer they are not expensive and are better quality, but before buying any part remove the cover, inside should not be any oil, if there is some oil then you need to replace those parts, just go to the dealer and most of the time they have this parts on stock

Really easy to check, remove the motor mount to have access, just make sure to put a jack under the engine to hold it, dont over lift the engine, remove the cover and replaced if you see any oil inside, don't worry the timing belt dont have nothing to do with this cover, this cover has the electrical contact to the vvt solenoid
yes. this engine loss of power almost killed me in a 30,000 mile sonata limited couple years ago. 45 days for dealer to get part in. car is a lemon. i am done with hyundai.
Primero necesitas eliminar el codigo P0010, es posible que este problema haga que tu rpm este fuera de rango, Codigo P0010 es practicamente problemas con el E-CVVT, es la parte que muestro en el video, puede ser que uno de los dos cables este rotos o haciendo falso contacto, remueve la tapa y si ves aceite del motor Dentro de ella lo mas seguro que ahi esta el problema, esto provoca que no llegue corriente al interior, si no vez aceite Dentro de la tapa, avisame y te doy el diagrama para revisar Los cables en el alambrado del motor. Vou fazer o teste, o meu esta com este problema. Acredito que seja isso, o azeite/óleo esta baixando, e esta sujando a parte de cima do motor. As vezes a luzes no painel acende, depois apaga... o carro fica fraco... depois voltar a funcionar normal, esta uma loucura. Tomaré la prueba, la mía tiene este problema. Creo que esto es todo, el aceite está cayendo y está ensuciando la parte superior del motor. A veces las luces en el tablero se encienden, luego se apagan ... el auto se debilita ... luego vuelve a la normalidad, es una locura. I will take the test, mine has this problem. I believe this is it, the oil is dropping, and it is dirtying the top of the engine. Sometimes the lights on the dashboard turn on, then turn off ... the car gets weak ... then it goes back to normal, it's crazy.

hello Russel you mean how to stabilize the engine to remove the motor mount? if that's what you mean you can put a piece of wood between the floor jack and the engine just to hold it, be careful to not over lift the engine. if you have any question i'll be happy to answer

@@DuartesAutoTipsandTricks I went off what the old plug (brown) looked like.. it looked like it was intended to be flush. Clearly it wasnt and the cover assembly was filled with oil.. more oil than yours had lol.. i hope with will stop my oil consumption issue..

@@100ega8 al solenoid le llega corriente de ignicion del fusible (sensor 2) que esta en la caja de fusibles en el area del motor, y la pcm manda la señal de tierra, tambien revisa que tu aceite no sea demaciado grueso, es importante que uses el aceite que especifica el manual o tu tapa de aceite, tambien es comun que aparte de las partes que menciono en el video revises el solenoid que esta al lado del otro cam, es comun que tambien falle.
Decia porque yo renplace la tapa similar a la que tu renplazaste y el connector de dos cables Los dos van a la PCM por esa razon comentaba que cual era la d la PCM Al sensor o el sensor ala PCM

Most of the time the camshaft sensor is not the problem, on this new vehicles the timing is controlled by oil fluid, so wrong oil viscosity, low oil level or problems with the vvt solenoids or cam phaser, if your vehivle is the same as the one on the video check first that cover, probably you have oil contamination preventing the function of the cam phaser,

its possible to be the same, remove the cover and check inside if you see oil inside that's your problem, don't buy any part until you check inside, most of the time that is the problem , oil contamination causing false contact on the E-CVVT

Me gusta mucho el cavalier, pero es muy pequeño, el altima que traigo lo quiero dejar hasta que me lo acabe lo quiero ver con medio millon de millas ya trae 177, deverdad a pesar de ser de 6 es muy económico en gasolina y más corriendo, pero para cuando cambie de carro otra vez espero ver opciones y hace rato vi un hunday sonada 2016, con este código p0010, entonces me quiero preparar para mi siguiente carro pensarlo bien, lo dan en 6mil creo por ese código, no pienso agarrarlo verdad, pero mi pregunta es cuanto cuesta arreglar ese trabajo.

I just replaced the cover and both plugs but the code keeps coming back and there is oil still coming inside the cover, these parts weren’t cheap. Do you know why the oil is still entering? Thank you

hello, the only place i buy this parts is from the dealer they are not expensive and are better quality, but before buying any part remove the cover, inside should not be any oil, if there is some oil then you need to replace those parts, just go to the dealer and most of the time they have this parts on stock

Really easy to check, remove the motor mount to have access, just make sure to put a jack under the engine to hold it, dont over lift the engine, remove the cover and replaced if you see any oil inside, don't worry the timing belt dont have nothing to do with this cover, this cover has the electrical contact to the vvt solenoid

Tengo un Hyundai Sonata 2015 me marca P0010 y el problema que presenta es que se queda acelerado en la revolución,,,que podría ser.?
Primero necesitas eliminar el codigo P0010, es posible que este problema haga que tu rpm este fuera de rango, Codigo P0010 es practicamente problemas con el E-CVVT, es la parte que muestro en el video, puede ser que uno de los dos cables este rotos o haciendo falso contacto, remueve la tapa y si ves aceite del motor Dentro de ella lo mas seguro que ahi esta el problema, esto provoca que no llegue corriente al interior, si no vez aceite Dentro de la tapa, avisame y te doy el diagrama para revisar Los cables en el alambrado del motor. You need a socket #17 to remove the motor mount and a socket #10 to remove the cover. Pretty easy,
Vou fazer o teste, o meu esta com este problema. Acredito que seja isso, o azeite/óleo esta baixando, e esta sujando a parte de cima do motor.
As vezes a luzes no painel acende, depois apaga... o carro fica fraco... depois voltar a funcionar normal, esta uma loucura.
Tomaré la prueba, la mía tiene este problema. Creo que esto es todo, el aceite está cayendo y está ensuciando la parte superior del motor.
A veces las luces en el tablero se encienden, luego se apagan ... el auto se debilita ... luego vuelve a la normalidad, es una locura.

hello Russel you mean how to stabilize the engine to remove the motor mount? if that's what you mean you can put a piece of wood between the floor jack and the engine just to hold it, be careful to not over lift the engine. if you have any question i'll be happy to answer

@@DuartesAutoTipsandTricks I went off what the old plug (brown) looked like.. it looked like it was intended to be flush. Clearly it wasnt and the cover assembly was filled with oil.. more oil than yours had lol.. i hope with will stop my oil consumption issue..
