You have finally discovered Britains best kept musical secret !! these guys are simply the best in the business and the marillion weekends are just brilliant. Live versions of pretty much anything - but Great Escape, Invisible Man, Ocean Cloud, Easter, This Strange Engine are a must and anything from their extraordinary Royal Albert Hall shows are wonderful.
Thank you for this heartfelt reaction. This is the best band you never heard of before. There are so many beautufil songs from this band and almost all as emotional. Keep listening,
Beautiful reaction guys. I've been to see Marillion many times and it's always such a beautiful experience with so many lovely people in the same room. Don't worry about the tears, I've seen many grown men's eyes fill with tears of joy at their shows (mine included) ❤
Ahhh finally Marillion! I knew it was a must for you since I saw you react to Pink floyd for the first time 😁 And it makes pretty much sense to get emotional with such songs. Btw Steve Rothery is probably the closest guitarist to David Gilmour with the sweetest guitar tone I've ever heard, every note 100 Kg of honey in my ears. They are full of long or stuck masterpieces with wealthy keyboard/guitar sound and beautiful vocals. Misplaced childhood is their No1 famous album and an absolute masterpiece with songs like pseudo silk kimono/Kayleigh and blind curve. Some other songs I would recommend you listen at least a few of them are forgotten sons, fugazi, script of a jester's tear, jigsaw, the web and ocean cloud. But really, if you get time to relax and listen the whole Misplaced childhood album it's worth it.
But it is important to know that Misplaced Childhood is a masterpiece under their 1st singer Fish. When Steve Hogarth joined Marillion in the late 80s their style changed and they developed the Progressive Rock style further and further over the years. Until today they released many other masterpiece albums like Season‘s End, Brave, Marbles, F.E.A.R. and their latest 2022 album An Hour Before It‘s Dark, just to name a few. So there‘s such a lot more stuff to discover 🤗
@@derechtenorden2410Well if I have to be fully honest, Marillion song=masterpiece always or almost always, but I wrote examples according a combination of general popularity, history's and personal preferences. I think their peak was with Fish, but anyone has their preferences so doesn't really matter. Anyway they listened to a great song with Hogarth, it's worth to listen to Fish as well 😁
Oh boy. If you like this, there is a lot to discover. Maybe ‘ Estonia’ (live) next? By the way: Marillion’s singer used to be a guy called Fish. You might have heard him sing the Marillion song ‘Kayleigh’. For many he is the one and only frontman of Marillion. He left a long time ago and this current singer is Steve Hogarth. They are very very different and I love them both. I guess the Fish era was a bit more avant garde music.
A masterpiece. Think Peter Pan desperate to take Wendy who is now doing the dishes in the kitchen , to fly away back to Neverland like when she was young.
Please don't apologize for honest feelings, watching couples react to this is a treat!❤ The song has done its. job. I love people becoming aware of Marillion. Steve Hogarth is the second singer in their history, and some are divided by the first singe Fish and Steve's tenure. They are still active and recording. The latest album "An Hour Before Dark" has one song that really hits me like "Neverland", called "Care". Being from a family that is all medical workers. Great band! Peace & Love
I have listened to this song so many times, always loved it. But honestly, watching you getting into it so much, made it feel different to me. It never touched me that much. Thanks.
The "Neverland" reference is a concise way to describe the longing to return to an era when you and your woman were both far younger and your life together was filled with wonder, excitement, and adventure. The two of you are old enough to have moved on to those years when your lives have become a bit of a repetitive grind filled with work and the effort needed to maintain a home, and the young love you felt has matured into an essential partnership devoted to maintaining a good life for each other, but maybe one which no longer has that sense of excitement and wonder. The second part is not really about escaping. It is about the importance of never forgeting those earlier years and the passion that came with them, never feeling like a stack of dirty dishes and a kitchen sink is all that your life has evolved into. From my own perspective and life experience, I think it is the wife who is more inclined to drift into that emotional hole where she thinks her life has been a disappointment due to choosing the wrong man to marry, and the lyrical invitation to fly away to Neverland is a shorthand plea to her to pull herself out of that black hole and return to happier times. Similarly, it is all too easy for the husband to take his wife for granted. I love how Marillion writes love songs for older couples whose problems reflect how the reality of life's hardships impacts a relationship.
After watching a reaction to Pink Floyd the other day I was trying to remember all the great British bands and I was astonished at how many there have been over the years, especially since the 60s. I know I can't remember them all because I wasn't born until 1962. I don't know why the UK as a whole creates so many talented artists. Must be something in water. ✌️❤️🇬🇧
Hi Andre and Domenica, Steve H. is the second singer of Marillion. He came, when FISH left. Both are great musicians. Maybe check out a Fish tune, such as "Garden of rememberance", "Virgil in a wilderness of mirrors" or his signature tune "The Company". Would love to see your reaction on one of those.
Only one of many many important and wonderful epic songs…. For example: Care The crow and the nightingale The Space Seasons End Ocean cloud Gaza( it’s not political) Invisible man The new kings Now I stop😊
One of the greatest songs of Marillion (H period since 1989). You lucky have lots of jewels to discover. Try Easter, Kaleigh, King, Man of a thousands faces, Season's end, Estonia, Out of this world, Afraid of sunlight, The invisible man, Ocean cloud, The great escape, This strange engine, The space, Gaza, Splinthering heart, This is the 21st Century……
What a wonderful, heart-felt reaction. Marillion is one of my favorite bands. So many good songs from them, but I suggest you try "The Space" live at the Royal Albert Hall.
What a great choice 🥰❤️ I think Marillion and their singer Steve Hogarth is one of the most underrated bands ever. Steve joined the band in late 80‘s and replaced „Fish“…so today their fans are separated in those who like Fish more and those who love Steve. That battle is a little bit sad as both are great performers and both deserve more respect from the particular other side 😢
@@naflemac2 Be that as it may, the percentage of music-lovers who chose prog as their go-to sub-genre has been a tiny sliver since about 1979 or so. I could walk up to a 1,000 people at a mall here in the USA and ask them about Marillion, Pendragon, and Arena, and only a handful would reply with anything other than "I've never heard of them".
Nice :-) Steve Rothery is perhaps the only other guitarist who shares Dave Gilmour's ability to channel raw emotion through his instrument and play in a "less is more" style where it's not all about speed and showing off, but about creating a beautiful soundscape; more generally, Marillion are superb musicians each and every one of them and well worth checking more of their output - I recommend The Great Escape for example and one of my favourites, Out of this World
It was emotional to watch you two being emotional...such an honest reaction. The other song by them, Waiting to Happen, might make you equally emotional.
Check out ''the Space" live at the Royal Albert Hall, And "Go" from same concert. Also "Sounds That Can't be Made" live , or do whole album review of Latest Album "An Hour before Its Dark" you will be blown away, by most of their stuff as Hogarth is super Emotionally charged when he sings live , he really puts his all in the songs , A-MAZ-ING he Is.
You guys have so much love for each other and it's absolutely wonderful to see! I always love watching your reactions and now you've reacted to one of my top 5 all time songs. Marillion is incredible!
Very much a band of two periods. Many people including myself adore their work with the original singer Fish, others prefer the current (and much longer lasting ) singer Steve Hogarth. And of course you can like both.
Marillion is like that! Their songs do this with us! Lucky for you! You have a catalog of more than 15 albums to discover. I recommend the latest album and the song Care to make a reaction... a masterpiece
Ahhhh, you guys... you're so lovely. Can't believe I've been watching your videos for all these months and this is the first time you've listened to my favourite band! This is one of their most transcendent, emotional songs - but they're an emotional, transcendent band. Give The Space (live at the Royal Albert Hall) a go - they've got classical musicians, including a string quartet playing with them there. The Great Escape, Ocean Cloud, Out Of This World - all gorgeous. For one off their latest record, try Care - it's an incredibly moving tribute to the medical professionals who saved all our bacon in the pandemic, and it rarely leaves a dry eye in the house. You won't find a live version of that, but the full song is on Marillion's own TH-cam channel.
when this resonates with you - and it will at some point - it will blow your mnd. This is like Marillion's answer to Comfortably Numb. the second half... the "Wendy Darling, in the kitchen with your dreams..." Hogarth claims this is Peter Pan based wordplay, but.... I think he's being rather tongue in cheek. It depends on how you read it and interpret it and personally.... I cant watch it without it moving me to tears. Its always resonated, every word of it... and once you get that connection with the music.... it will blow your mind.
Have followed Marillion for years, my favourite band. The talent, lyrics, the feelings, the honesty in their music have brought a lifetime of joy, so pleased you have played and enjoyed them. Just the best band
I LOVE your reaction to a song that I have loved for years and still brings me to tears every time I hear it. It has to be one of my favourite reaction video's I have watched. Marillion are simply a magnificent band and if you ever get the chance to watch them, make sure you do. Marillion have a devoted and loyal fanbase and their gigs are such an event, like a place of worship.
Awesome to see your emotional reaction to such a beautiful song. Definitely look into more of their catalog, as they have many wonderful songs. Keep up the great work.

En pensant à tous ces gens qui subissent actuellement les atrocités des différentes guerres, je vous invite à écouter leur magnifique titre "Gaza" en live... Leur dernier album est également incroyable ! Merci en tout cas pour ce moment !
Aside the great Marillion I recommend "Airbag" with the song "Homesick", an emotional rollercoaster (at least for me) really really worth to listen and enjoy 🙂
So touching ! Glad this band found its way to your ears and hearts ! And this I hope is just a start ! There is so much to take from their universe !!!
Marillion is a very special band. It was very touching to see your genuine reaction together! If you get a chance to see them live, you will not regret it. Their catalogue is huge with lots of great video too. "Season's End" from the Royal Albert Hall is fantastic.
Hits me every time and I heard it 1000 times, Catharsis! The way the song deconstructs at the end is like awaking from a dream of Neverland...that`s pure art! Marillion forever! This music is soulfood, it makes you a better person, lets you explore your deepest emotions, brings back your childhood feelings, so you don`t loose them. Good reaction...if you`re really new to this great band, there`s lot more to come. Welcome to the real deal!
Incredible band…. A must watch & reaction has to be “Estonia with friends of the Orchestra” Having lived my life on the sea, it has to be played at my funeral. “Perfection!”
One of the most important and interesting bands of neo-progressive scene . I wish you can do reaction to The Great Escape song from Brave album. Pozdrowienia z USA .
Well, finally someone has reacted to both Marillion and Aurora, my two favourite contemporary (as well as past) artists. Even with a thirty-fourty year gap between the two, I feel they tap into the same vein of musical honesty and uncompromisingly being themselves. This might be what prevents both from reaching universal stardom, as that is not what the crass commericalism of the music industry seeks in order to turn a quick buck. But as long as Marillion and Aurora turn hearts first, money second, I couldn't care less. They own my musical heart, and my life is all the better off for them being around - Marillion since my teens in the mid-80s, Aurora joining them to light up my middle years. Thank you both for reacting to this!
Marillion and their fans have a true connection. I have seen them so many times since 1983..and they are the only band that can move me emotionally.. I cry a lot at Marillion gigs...thank you
Hello you two! I haven't watched you for a while now, having followed your Nightwish and Ayreon reactions. I can't believe that you are finally reacting to my favourite band! Amazing. This song was written in 2004 and appears on their 'Marbles' album. The lead singer Steve Hogarth (known as h) has married a Polish lady and the band regularly visit Poland, specifically Lodz for their annual Conventions. l was at their very first Convention in 2002 in England, and while I never travel abroad, the Bnad go to Port Zeland in The Netherlands, Montreal over in Canada and (as I mentioned) Lodz in Poland. Like Genesis, the band has had a change of singer, and a change of sound. Unlike the Phil Collins-fronted Genesis which became radio-friendly and (frankly) a bit 'poppy', Marillion has always stayed close to it's roots and became an independent artist way back in 1999. Steve Hogarth joined the band in 1989, so he is still the new boy! Lol.I am so pleased that you loved this song. It is of course a play-on-words referencing Peter Pan, and his love-affair with Wendy. h sings (while flying) "But when you're gone, I neverland" So grateful to you both. Much love to you ober there in Romania. Take care
I was allowed to sing in a Marillion-Tribute band for a couple of years - and I knew nothing beforehand, except "Kayleigh", of course. Growing up in the 80s - everybody knows "Kayleigh". It was magical at times, even in the rehearsals in the damp smelly basement... Those were the days! Because the material is just great. Of course, I was fortunate, to be in a really great band. The last gig was 2012 with Steven Rothery. It was an honor. Seasonsend - the music of Marillion.
Aaarrrr! Ma rill e on is how you say it hopefully. 👍misplaced childhood is my favourite album of their's with the Scottish singer Fish. Cant complain about the new marillion, but as a 59 year old prefer Fish.

One of the most important and interesting bands of neo-progressive scene .
I wish you can do reaction to The Great Escape song from Brave album.
Pozdrowienia z USA .
Absolutely love Marillion!!! Love this couples commentaries.
Marillion hit the heart. As you discovered
Subtitles wrong in a lot of places. Second part for example. Wendy Darling In The Kitchen When You Dream
Loved classic Marillion. (Fish era) but tried and tried to like them after that . And I also think IQ is a great band that I enjoy more .
You need to do a couple of tracks from All One Tonight Love at the Royal Albert Hall 👍
Yes, they're underrated. Sadly.
❤
When Fish Left, I `left`
And that was not smart. You are missing so much.
Your emotions says it all. Now you have so much more to explore, enjoy the Marillion journey. I'm happy to see them again in two weeks.
If you listen to more - and there is so much more - you will not be disappointed. Great reaction once again.
Kayleigh.N🎉ext up for this band.Trust me.grew in the 70s.
The Space, live from Albert Hall, or Great Escape live are both also great
"Kayleigh" is another wonderful song by Marillion from the late 80s
Awesome band and one of my favourite songs. See them many times live.
Welcome to Marillion. Strap in for the ride !!!
Quelle belle chanson et émotion de marillion merci ❤❤❤❤
Marillion is amazing band!
