completely agree with you, people saying that "paper like is the same" just don't have direct experience with this product, which is clearly superior. Obviously, OLED is at its best without texture, but the whole point (of the technology and this video) is how little you lose and how much you gain (without reflections). An iPad is for using everywhere, generally.

@@BruceLeroyUK Absolutely… 13 inch glossy, though🙂. Almost everything in life is like this: experience it yourself and you will make the best decision (for yourself). I completely understand that you preferred the NT; in my case it was a no-go. The bezels were annoyingly glossy, the intensity of the screen was uncomfortable (PWM?), and the difference in image quality was too much!
I can also confirm the obvious: all extraordinary devices, every single person will have its own predilection or necessities. One is willing to sacrifice something that is a deal breaker for the next. Your video is so good that many will coincide with you, yet even the best video is no substitution to experience. Really funny how this device (nano-texture) was perfect in concept and even in video and how it resulted in the opposite for me😄. The same happened with size: I was using 11” but this 13” is thinner and lighter enough for me to select it.
All you pointed in the video stands, and although I ultimately chose the glossy, it was very helpful when trying to decide. I am sure you are happy with your device too!
Thanks for the video and your excellent job, it is refreshing.

Finally got around to affording an upgrade to the new 13” iPad Pro M4 from my M1 (the battery in my M1 just doesn’t last anymore and for really no reason other than forcing an upgrade, Apple locks all the battery-saving software features in iPads to the M2 chip and higher). I went with the standard glass, to save money, but also because I am one of those people that likes to take my iPad everywhere and just have peace of mind with a tempered glass screen protector. I’d rather a $15 screen protector take the damage and get replaced than a costly screen repair. I also worry that the Nano Textured Glass would require special cleaning rather than just a standard microfiber cloth I have multiples of already as a glasses wearer. Looking forward to receiving my new M4 machine later this week!

Very well said. You've got a new subscriber! All my other Apple products including Macbook Pro, Studio Display and iPhone are all standard glass. Therefore I bought nano texture glass for my iPad Pro M4 13". I must say that I really like it. Not just because of minimising glare but it's excellent for viewing photos. I've had screen protectors on every phone and tablet up until the past gen. At worst, they really do diminish the image quality and increase glare. At best, they still add a whole mm or so of thickness, which can interfere with some of the magnets on some folio cases.
I traded both my 2021 12.9" and my iphone 14 PM in with pristine displays. Keep them in a case. For the tablets, keep them in some kind of folio case when not in use.
Unless you drop your stuff a bunch (I personally don't), then I don't see why you'd need them. These displays don't scratch outside of coming into contact with specific objects with a defined hardness level. Jerry Riggs does good videos demonstrating this.

I think the use of a screen protector is the main issue for me. Drawing on an ipad that get's a scratch, or even worse and groove that will snag the pencil just enough to irritate me constantly is the reason I went with the traditional glass and slapping a paper like type of screen protector on it. I can replace whenever I need and deal with the muted colors. Also I saved a bit of money as I only wanted the 512 model. If Apple ever offered an ARTIST MAX PRO IPAD haha with replaceable nano texture screens specifically for artists, I would probably be interested. Especially if they did so on a 16" mode that dual boots iOS ;-)

Got the nano texture because I will running my iPad in our f150 work truck as a dash mounted tablet, finger prints and glare sucks so much even with a matte screen protector, hope this is much better

The people in the apple store literally told me to stay away from the nano texture glass because of how bad the fingerprints look, and how it affects the display quality

Great review! Couldn’t justify the price increase from 256GB to an unnecessary 1TB.
Depends on use case: 11” nano best for travelling/outdoors helping to reflect light. 13” standard glass I’d rather have for at home productivity/occasional media consumption, enhancing clarity/vibrancy

Not to mention an under-clocked M4 chip (with 8GB RAM inside, 256GB) and with that you aren’t getting the full power of the M4 chip, fastest one is the 1TB 16GB RAM one.

I have seen MANY reviews on the nano textureed display where users said it damaged the tip of their Apple Pencil's.
Apple Pencil is way too expensive for damaging it that way.

The tip is replaceable, and on the NT glass, wears down less than with a matte screen protector.

Thanks for your review which confirms my decision to order the nano texture iPad Pro 13”. I use amongst other things to play music, sometimes outside where reflections are often a problem. I have tried Paperlike screen protectors twice in the past and did not like. The nano texture looks a lot better.

I was pissed it cost me an extra 1k, basically, they really shouldn’t have limited it to 1TB+. But it looks GREAT for outside use

I am a big fan of matte like screens. II used to buy MacBooks with the Matte option over glossy when Apple had the option., and there was a point where Apple only had the matte option if I remember correctly.
Saying that, my preference was pre-ordering the nano glass version. It looks really nice, But I'm returning it for the standard version because it does look slightly washed out.
I also don't like the border being standard glass. Feels weird when sliding towards the border from the nano glass. Small gripe but still bugs me. I used the paperlike screen protector on my M2 iPad Pro. It was almost the same with the bonus of feeling like paper, and you get the added screen protection. I wouldn't recommend paperlike on the nano glass version.
    Great review. Thank you!

So you would say the image qualify downgrade is almost the same as using a screen protector? Not much better visuals with nano vs say paoerlike? You used the word “almost” so I ask more about detail level here

The popularity of Apple products and the loyalty of its customer base is a fascinating phenomenon that spans across many countries, including the US and Canada. It's interesting to observe how brand ecosystems create a sense of community and familiarity for users, even though opinions on pricing and product features can vary widely. Discussions about technology choices often reflect the diverse preferences and values people have when it comes to their gadgets and services.

Thanks - a great video and just what I was looking for. One concern I have is that I think you have to use the special cloth with the nano texture otherwise you can ruin the screen and I will almost certainly forget to take it with me when I’m out and about…
