At the same time I met a Norwegian online whom I now have visited twice; he lives in Tromsø. I am planning another trip this September for a 3 month stay, and hope my friend will drive me to the Savoy Hotel and Manndalen to pay homage to Jan Baalsrud at his grave site. Your video gave me more visual insight on how to follow in your footsteps, perhaps all the way to Baalsrud Cave.

On my first visit to my Norwegian friend in Tromsø in May 2022, we took a 3 1/2 hour speed ferry to Harstad to visit the Trondenes Historical Museum and 14C kirk. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trondenes_Historical_Center Besides, interest in Viking history I also have a strong interest in the Saami People, which is why I want to visit Manndalen. Thanks for the Rjukan Telemark suggestion, but I am concentrating my time and limited finances on the Troms og Finnmark area.

Thank you for the link. We have seen The Twelfth Man, however we will watch again. The story itself is unbelievable and more so once you see the countryside. In winter it seems impossible. A lot of very brave men and women helped and were prepared to offer the ultimate sacrifice. Takk.

That part of Norway has numerous camps from WW2 where many Russians were enslaved to work, as well as Patriotic Norwegians. @@rhyacinthlevrini6577
