- Social distancing and good hygiene are essential weapons in the fight against COVID-19.
But how can you maintain social distancing in one of the world's largest slums? How can you wash your hands regularly when there is no running water? And what happens when millions of people who survive on meagre wages are suddenly without work and struggling to feed themselves?
In India, 1.3 billion people were confined to their homes with just four hours' notice as the country embarked on the world's biggest lockdown.
Tens of millions of migrant workers suddenly found themselves jobless, quickly running out of money and food, and unable to return to their villages across India.
Ibrahim Mohammed worked as a rickshaw puller in New Delhi, but now he cannot leave the slum where he lives with his wife and four children.
"Ever since the lockdown was announced, we are dying of hunger," he says. "Now they say there is a sickness in the air. We may get sick, but before that, we will die of hunger."
Construction worker, Bhikhari Yadav, says he can no longer send money home to his wife and children in the eastern state of Bihar. He says migrant workers feel abandoned.
"We have made this country the way it is," he says. "But right now, the poor man is being kicked in the stomach."

I am lying down on my bed with the air conditioner on and spending hours scrolling through TH-cam videos . Seeing the whole video hit me so hard and deep .
The suffering is real and heartbreaking. We , the privileged people should act more responsible starting from the big politicians to people like us .

Death rate may be less but still there are gaps in reporting the Covid death. Only in Delhi there are more than 600 corona virus and suspected deaths but officially is is being counted as 350.

It's really heartbreaking, look at how hard they are trying to keep living and not losing their faith, instead they keep their family and do whatever the effort they can take
This is the reality of India and people were dying in the Lockdown because of hunger but no Temple (Mandir) Management came ahead and hadn't helped. In temple where biggest tax free money is collected. In this havoc situation 99% people are from poor and these all belongs from Lower caste, here it's not the point to be out but it's a truth also. Our Home minister never addressed the people in this Lockdown atleast he should have to come on digital platform and to say something. But who cares ....our politicians are distroying everything.

We are helping as much as we can. We are donating grocery, collecting money and donating as much possible through all means, paying extra to house maid, paying extra to saloon guy and distribute food in our street. I hope god will help us to tke care of these migrants.

Two word are different

"Bigari" means helper at construction site
Bhikari is the person who ask for food, money to any waking by people, outside mandir or beside street,
Bigari is the person who work with a main constricting person at building site,
"Nation is going to take an important decision, today"
But it's not nation but "Modi" who take decision of sudden lockdown and to avoid the responsibility, he cleverly phrase "Nation is taking important decision" "Desh aaj ek mahatwapurna nirnay karne ja raha hai"
Do you suppose he have any other choice? If it's not lockdown, it's massive deaths. And if he announced beforehand, many will flee - thus defeating the purpose of this exercise.
Taking responsibility IS going into lockdown.. As previous commenter said, what other choice would he have? As soon as he announced lockdown, people started trying to migrate back to villages - probably taking COVID with them and spreading it all over. This documentary showed it perfectly. They are uneducated and because of that, living in poverty. They don't know any better. They need educated people to make the tough decisions for them. They are lucky to be getting any support from the government at all to be honest.. Living in poverty and willingly having 4+ children is incredibly irresponsible and completely unfair to those children. India seriously needs to implement some population control measures or this problem will only continue to accelerate. Socialism doesn't work, especially when majority of the population lives in poverty and isn't able to contribute to society in a time like this. Survival of the fittest.

The big problem with India is alot of their citizens have great fear of government. Nothing will change until fear is removed.

Entire world is suffering. Brazil is in the worst position and hopefully their medical system is not on the verge of collapse. That's an extremely privileged position to take. A lot of socio-economically backward families are forced to have children to have another pair of hands around the house, with the hope that what work they do and what they earn will give returns that outweigh the costs of raising them, and they'll have someone to take care of them in their advanced years. They don't get pensions.

India has a huge economic inequality. A great chunk of the population lives under the poverty line who can't afford basics like healthcare and food. There are people driving supercars in Delhi through their black money and yet the poor are neglected and left to die on streets. Really sad.

Philippines is under lockdown for 2 months but now there is no lockdown & everything is back the flight, malls, work etc. Everyone is adjusting for new normal like always wearing face mask & social distancing. Our economy is going back, we only wait for the vaccine, 10,000 to 20,000 people test per a day because our government goal is everyone can test for covid 19 to know if how many are infected to the virus. As far as I know our recoveries increased and infected by the virus are decreasing.
