Gekko doesn't fit structured strategies imo, he fits more bursty playstyles which was how CGRS got so much value in Tokyo for Paper Rex

  • @wisemango

u left a blooper in lol

  • @valorantparaburros

gekko also has very little synergy with neon, so EDG's comp is kinda suboptimal

  • @brianscalabrine2225

It's funny that gekko is still not understood in pro play when the first repeated use of gekko was done so well with PRX. It'snot like agents like viper where noone could play it because there was no blueprint til nats, the blueprint is right there.

    Feel like EDG even while being China's best team (for now) have alot of issues with properly using util and mostly go off of hero plays or normal ooga booga aim plays.. Hope this is something they aim to fix before the next season cause i want them to go farther than fourth place at int lans ;-;

I think that is more map specific. I remember an analysis of Teets that LOUD played Gekko on Lotus and Split and there was a ton of angles that you could throw Dizzy on specific places, and the teammates capitalize on the info without exposing the flash or wingman to be unrecoverable, making Gekko basically a fundamental piece of their comp. The key was to use (as you said) multiple times Wingman and Dizzy, and doing the same with the ult: gather info and coming back to recover it if your teammates can't follow up or using it to gather info exclusively and repeat. All maps that lets you throw utility from a safe place to a safe spot letting you recover it safely and getting info, are IMO the best maps for Gekko.

    forgot the jump cut

    limited edition blooper

  • @DiceNinja

So basically… pros are playing Gekko without using his utility or barely touching it. Which makes him as useful as an agent with no utility at all.

My issue playing Gekko in ranked that might translate into all scenarios is that picking your utility up takes you out of the action for too long.

I feel like Gecko could be very useful on a map like breeze or if played with a yoru bcus even if you do make noise with gecko, you can get information to then pivot or fake a site exec then just pick up the util and go to the other site. Don't know many teams that do many fakes though other than the Fokus on breeze game that TMV reviewed. But i feel if you have a combo of viper harbor yoru gecko and maybe cypher or something it might work pretty well with finding your own info while denying the enemy team's and being able to still have enough util to hit a site after faking the other site

  • @yourjustdesserts

The blooper is quite apt for what you're saying. I assumed it was on purpose.

  • @CHUNCHUNMARU971

In that round there were so many times that if he had just thrown his flash out they would have got the info of the cat push

  • @ericbayer123

I see so many people in the comments saying how bad some of gekkos util is, or mis understanding the general idea of what makes his stuff good. The whole thing about reusable util is just that. He can make specific plays to enable him to get info with out wasting his util. That's the point. Nobody gets mad at a pro for using a skye flash at the beginning of a round on Bind for info, dogging long/short on B, the flashing hooka. But a Gekko uses his util for a similar thing it is "bad" and "a waste of utility"... like the whole point is that he doesn't waste the utility and can get it back. Sure he takes a bit of time to pick it up, but these are pro players. They can maneuver around this fact. Don't send the gekko alone to pick up wingman after he finds nothing. Pick it up with someone else. Send dizzy up into the air to get some info before a round starts. You'll still have it for a retake. I feel like this whole comment section is prime picking for a video about "People don't understand the power Gekko can have in Pro Play." We already have teams that put 3 on a path to fight for 1 ult orb, why not have a gekko so you can fight for the gekko orb AND the ult orb? Like people. Understand pro play before you type "Gekko util takes too long to pick up." Like yeah, that's the point. You don't wanna see 8 dizzy's a round instead of the 4 he can do.

  • @ImMigrant98086

A good gekko uses his abilities multiple times which requires you to 1. Go to your ability death spot. 2. Be unable to defend yourself for 5 seconds while you pick it up. 3. Wait for the ability to recharge. There are simply too many conditions in order to be able to use an ability. Imo, they need to remove number 2 for all abilities other than his ult.

  • @dercarrot991

I would love if you could choose to kill the pets early so that the orb drops where you want it. That way it can become part of the plan

  • @Sugarist0

Throwing and getting bailed out by sheer mechanical skill is just an apac valorant classic

  • @peel8290

I don’t understand why dizzy can’t recharge after 40 seconds w/o picking her up, it seems like a really quick fix to a massive issue with gekko’s value
