I live in Hutchinson Kansas. And I go rock hunting all the time and ive found some very beautiful jasper pieces. They very similar to the ones you find on this video. They r so beautiful. I love ur videos. They are very informational. So thank you!!😁
Theo, thank you for turning me on to the Rock Shed. 1/2 hour there and dropped $2500.00. got some great stuff then on to Teepee canyon for some fantastic finds. Hooked into some that may not fit in my 18" saw. Next time you are in the Gillette Wyoming area give me a yell, i have some petrified wood and jasper areas that will make you scream. My property is full of huge gypsum crystal that you are welcome to gather
Hey would you please make an episode on how you clean The Rock you find especially the selenite and fossils also a tip for you take some aluminum foil with you and use it to wrap your fragile findings thank you I love your episodes❤
Wow! Those selenite pieces were gorgeous! And the jaspers were beautiful. The reds and yellows were amazing and the beautiful, xolorful piece of banded chert that was bright yellow and red was simply gorgeous! Some amazing specimens! And the fossils! The griphea and the belemnites were awesome! Amazing finds and a day out and not just in the shop, who could ask for more!?! Thanks Theo!
I believe you are on the spot. The mystery fossil looks like the interior mold of a brachiopod aka "steinkern" 👌 At least that's what it looks like to me. :)
I make trips to the Pryor Mountain Wild Horse Range and this area you're in looks a lot like that. I never explored the red hills on the way there for fossils and rock before but will for sure the next time. The upper area of the range is so covered with solid limestone full of shell fossils that you drive on it half the time. Well, crawl not drive, it's real 4wd territory.
Our deserts have such an amazing story to tell. You can picture what they once looked like by the Treasures that have been left behind. The cuts came out looking really sweet with lots of color play. I'm guessing the surprise item you were hoping to find is Petrified Wood.. The Selinite was so clear. I love how it forms in thin layers but yet it can be so clear. I have some bowling ball size pieces and I was considering trying to polish one, but I agree. It may be too soft to take a polish, and I'm afraid I'd screw up a cool looking specimen. Eventually, I'll try polishing a small specimen as a test subject. I have to know if I can. Lol.. Great video!! RockOn!!!
I love selenite, but that banded chert was awesome too! I have a nice big piece of selenite, and love the satiny sheen. Mine was given to me but finding your own must be much more satisfying! I have seen selenite orbs in rock shops.
* Could the fossil be a mashed Gryphaea?? Love the selenite.. so beautiful.. My Fav is the Selenite, especially the long flat strata.. Envy you finding it.. Reminds me of Mica..
Funny thing...I reached out to Rock Hounds today asking to identify some pieces of something I had no idea what it was. Turns out, they were Selenite. I couldn't believe it when I was watching this video and you found some. Beautiful stuff. I found mine in Wyoming around a plains lake. Thank you for confirming exactly what I found. How old do you guess those pieces were that you found? Thanks 😊
Did you put the selenite in anything to clean it? We have it on our property but I can't get pieces as clean as you did. You found some gorgeous pieces!!
I'm just getting into the rock hounding thing and where I live, there's nothing close by that I can find anything substantial to cut or tumble. Was thinking I would just buy from you... but your store is closed😢
Hey there Theo, you talk about your other channel, but I cannot find a link for it in your bio. Hint please add it. Please could someone list in the replies.
Great finds! I love the desert, but it absolutely demands a healthy respect for it. Between the heat, rattlesnakes, scorpions, flashfloods (especially in those dry washes), and countless other things that want to kill you, it is a dangerous beauty. 🏜
And you must watch your dogs. 'cause they are the ones that are going to get bit by a snake, cause they are curious animals, and they don't really know the dangers. I pray for those babies to be okay. I'm sure they're fine. I've been watching videos with them in it. Thank God, they're okay.
Love the last one!
Nature rocks beauty that can make the mine good feeling. very nice find !!!

Mmmmmmmm jasper, enough said.
Very cool.
You might enjoy Flint Ridge flint from middle Ohio. Beautiful colors like the jasper you were hunting for on this day.
Very nice, thanks.
Very nice finds! Love the Jaspers and selenite! Hat fossil was cool, let us know if you figure out exactly what it is! Hi to Alexis and the pups❤
So I’m thinking that is a brachiopod the texture you’re seeing I think is beekite chalcedony. I could be wrong but we have lots of those in Missouri

Good video
❤🎉🎉❤
Love the jaspers. The selenite was really cool. Stay safe out there.
Looks like a dragon scale to me, if you were close to dale, or the long lake, it probably is:)
Stay safe. And thanks for sharing your hunts. Love the selenite
cool

I have a small sheet of selinite on my desk right now.

Layered serpent head
The one in question
Lovely finds!
I have never heard of selenite before. I think I have a new favorite next to petrified wood. Do they have selenite in Idaho?
Love the variety of specimens. Awesome finds!
Lightning can travel three miles from its source. Be careful!

Yea I heard the thunder ⛈️ boomies. Work fast otherwise you will look like Professor in back to the future 😅
Pretty stuff looks like glass I wonder how it was formed?❤❤
Are you getting rain 🌧 because it sounds like rain 🌧 and wind at the same time.
Did you put the selenite in anything to clean it? We have it on our property but I can't get pieces as clean as you did. You found some gorgeous pieces!!
mystery fossil could be an echinoid or "fairy loaf"?
Do you use the acid to get the rough off of the selenite to clean it up? Or how do you think the best way to go about that is?
I'm just getting into the rock hounding thing and where I live, there's nothing close by that I can find anything substantial to cut or tumble. Was thinking I would just buy from you... but your store is closed😢
Hey what kind of blade do you use on your saw and where do you get them?

How is selenite different from mica?
To me, the mystery rock looks like a dinosaur 🦕 egg.
Where are you?
* The devil's toenail in your "thumbnail" looks like a Crawdad crawling down a hole.. Had to do a double take to see what it really was!!
