love it, i just adore these kind of people, they put so much work in what they do and then deliver greatness and beauty, it would be my dream top play lije that one day..
Really like your videos and the different series you're producing - great stuff. Only thing - ever thought about showing a digital overlay with the keys you're playing? In some situations I find it quite difficult to distinguish between hovering and pressing fingers, especially on the black keys.
Thanks Armin! I have actually thought about using a digital overlay, and even experimented with it a couple of years ago - I didn't include it in the test video when I posted it in the end because I just felt it looked too "busy". I appreciate the problem though, and may play around with it again...
Really wish that you would post a link to a midi file of the intro so new guys like me can really see what you are doing. Thanks for all the help and I do have your book already.
Thanks Victor! I keep meaning to post a score of this one - several people have asked - so when things have settled down a bit (moving house at the moment...) I may well do so!
Not necessarily, Jorge, although bear in mind that, depending on how complex a chord it is, omitting a key tone such as the fifth can lead to ambiguity. If you watch out for that, you should be fine.
Terrific stuff, Bill. Jam packed with super tips! One question: Do you have to keep your eye on your left hand when you plink the bottom notes on 1/3 or can you (with your years of experience) play this blindfolded?
Thanks Phil! It sort of depends on the song, the chord, the tempo and the key. If everything's fairly straightforward I can more or less do it without looking at my left. As things get more complex, though, I have to start snatching glances....!
That's a good idea, actually - I'll jot a few variations down in Sibelius in the next day or two and post a link to a PDF in the description field underneath the video (I'll let you know when I've done it!)
Would love to know what sounds u play in. I often will try finding the same sound but can't. Idk if ur in grand & it dry sounds smoother coz u have better system, idk but pls respond
Please label the tones of the chords You are playing. Am I to assume that if I purchased Your series of videos and books, that they would all be the same, and left up to My imagination?

Another useful tutorial Bill! I like the practical exercises.
Level 1: 1:51
Level 2: 5:22
Level 3: 15:14
Level 4: 17:25
Level 5: 20:10
Serious warning: Been addicted to stride since going through one of Bill's older play lists. Once you get the stride switch it's just too much fun
I'll keep feeding your habit, Jad...!
Bill Hilton l am from Malta very interesting thanks
About 8 months into learning piano, probably learned the most from this channel. Great stuff guy, keep it up!
Thanks Jim - glad it's useful for you!
Thanks for consistently publishing your knowledge. I'm now taking your notes seriously and I'm really learning.
No problem, Dionne - I'm very glad it's useful for you.
Tremendous! Very demanding(for me), but still tremendous. Really expanding the possibilities. Many thanks.
Thanks John!
Thank you for existing. You've helped more then i care to admit. Appreciated
No problem at all - glad to have helped :)
BTW really like this, ur an AMAZING Teacher, slow enough for someone at my level to lean from u. Ty for what u do. I appreciate it.
As usual a great class!!! Thank you! Greetings from the deep south!
Thanks Daniel - really glad you like it. And greetings from North Wales! :)

Love your videos Bill very helpful and I Love your accent
Thanks Medgeen - glad you like both! :)
thanks for this
I also found that simple Scott Joplin type stride could be used for practising hand Independence.
Yes, absolutely - a really good point, Pradeep!
@Bill Hilton, when im playing and discovering new chords do i always need to play the fifth note of the chord.
Not necessarily, Jorge, although bear in mind that, depending on how complex a chord it is, omitting a key tone such as the fifth can lead to ambiguity. If you watch out for that, you should be fine.

This is very helpful, thank you! Does anyone know the key of this chord progression? Which chord is the tonic?
No problem, Ameelia! It's in the key of A minor, so A minor is the tonic chord.
Cảm ơn! Tôi đến từ Việt Nam
You're welcome!
It would be helpful if you left time markers in the description for the different levels.
Now *that* is an excellent idea - I'll add that to my job list for the next day or two. Thanks!
Can you write the progressions on sheet music? That would be so helpful.
That's a good idea, actually - I'll jot a few variations down in Sibelius in the next day or two and post a link to a PDF in the description field underneath the video (I'll let you know when I've done it!)
what is the name of the piano on the video?
thank you

Hey Cindy - I'm using the standard Bosendorfer Grand Imperial sound set on my Nord, and lining out right into Logic Pro X for the recording :)
First one to view and like
interesting stuff, but, it got a little long in the middle and i shut it off------------?
Please label the tones of the bass notes and chord, as You did with the entire chords.
