He did not play on "Waiting for an Alibi". That was on the Black Rose album, with Gary Moore. Also, he left Thin Lizzy in about 1978, not 1983

Actually, he very much did have a hand in the writing of Waiting For An Alibi. The original demo was recorded in February 1978 when Robbo was back again for a short while and he even performed it live with them that year on the UK run until he ultimately got replaced by Gary somewhere around August or September of 1978. The original demo with Robbo can be found here on TH-cam 😉

Lizzy always had excellent guitarists, but I always had a soft spot for Robertson, because he was so young and talented. Coming up with the classic Boys Are Back In Town at the age of 19, is unreal.

When people ask me about my favorite guitar players, i quickly tell them about the duo of Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham. Their sound was so unique and very complimentary. Thin Lizzy now is getting the recognition the band deserves , emerging as one of the better bands from the 1970,s.

I expected a few mistakes in an AI generated script. That aside, Robbo was/is a great guitarist. The story goes that he was a friend of Lizzy's roadie 'Big Charlie' (also from Glasgow area) and jammed with the band in hotel rooms as an enthusiast fan. Apparently, he already knew all the Eric Bell solos, before he joined. Scott Gorham joined not long after, having passed an audition.

My favorite guitarist with Lizzy. They had many good guitarists, I could say all of them. But Robbo had that special touch noone else had imo. Not overly technical even though he was very technical but he didnt rely on it imo, he wanted emotions to come out, and he succeeded a lot with that, with many if not all of his lead parts and solos. A few inaccuracies in that. Firstly that’s a picture of Giffnock not Clarkston. Secondly he replaced Gary Moore not Eric Bell. Thirdly I don’t think he played on the recorded version of Waiting for an Alibi. Finally he left Lizzy for the last time in 1978.

@@jerrywoods4066 Scott Gorham was best before Gary joined when he composed his solos. Then he tried to be more of a guitar slinger wich he wasn’t and lost most of his melody and tone. In all i say Robbo and Gary was better guitar players than Scott in Thin Lizzy. But Robbo and Scott made a fantastic team playing together.
