I think I've figured out why I like your SL videos more than other youtubers: seems like you mostly SL random teammates. I think it gives a much better idea of the good and bad of being an SL for the majority of players who aren't in discord with all the same mates every game. And way more rewarding when you all become a cohesive unit.
I really appreciate that! From the start of doing these live comms I made the conscious decision to not play with friends or communities members as that would give people a very skewed perspective of the game. Yes one or two sometimes make it into my squad, but I want to keep the content as realistic to what people can expect.
The end game call was a good one. One squad attacked, 4 others couldn't defend? That's not on you. That attack was gorgeous, squad movement grogeous. Your squad this game could be an educational video on how to be a squad honestly. It was beautiful. And your snap shots are insanely tight.
Thank you! Yeah was a tad frustrated that we couldn't get the win because of that. I was honestly surprised how good my squad was for mostly random players.
Exactly! I never seem to be able to finish a thought when doing it live, so doing it in post allows me to collect myself and explain things in a more digestible way.
Big fan of the new format. Getting some voice over about your thoughts during the game is much clearer than when you are trying to explain your actions in game.
I like this format of gameplay with a bit of meta analysis in post. One thing I noticed here is something you talked about in the past and that I've been very cognizant of in my own games recently: Frequent communication on the squad level. Giving updates on the overall strategy, battlefield situation, current objectives, encouragement or corrections, etc. It's something I've been trying much harder at when I SL and I really notice the detrimental effect when SLs of some squads I join are basically silent the whole match. You're left wondering what's going on, what you should be doing, and if what you're currently doing is actually productive or not. Also, calling specific people out to do things instead of just "someone".
Yeah I like it a bit more that the other. It's hard to get those things worked in and even when you do employ them, games still don't go your way, but far more will go your way.
Even with the resulting loss, this was fantastic example of good squad leading. very cohesive team. Really impressed how you corralled your squad and moved them. Keeping them focused on threat and intent was cool to see.
Actually Gor , your video ideas are good. It doesn't really matter to me. I love how you explain on what to do as a SL and how to better. I am still learning how to be better a SL. It would be great if you released a video about Tips and Tricks for Armour. It would be an honour to play with you. Keep it up.
I think this way was a bit better so you can focus on the game while you play but if it takes a lot longer to edit the other way is good too! Thanks for the vid! :D
I really enjoy all the different ways you present the information. From a blow by blow explanation of strategy, to this kind which allows me to come up with thoughts of what I think is going on and then compare what I think is going on with, to your explanations. If that makes sense 😊 all of the video types have their own value. Thanks again for your support of the community Gor!
Thank you! Yeah I'm liking the different styles too. This one definitely allows me to focus more on the game and my squad, so the gameplay is a bit of a higher caliber.
@@Gorlami14 each type allows for a different view of what is going on and why. All of them have value and I'd love to see you swap between them. I'm sure it's cool for you too allowing some variety in the kind of video you do and tht kind of match you choose to play
Yo gor, great content as always. I personally think OWI should pick you up for an advisor position or at least sponsor you, you would be a great asset for updating in game tutorials. I've played squad for 3k plus hours and still learned a few tricks from you here and there and actually gave me confidence to SL a squad again after many months of just giving up on public players. Much love.
I've got over 2.6k (some ungodly amount spent in the lobby trying to get in a server) and I often obtain valuable insights or strategies from his channel. Captain was the OG Squad guru, but Gorlami has taken the mantle in his absence. I also like the diversity of the topics and how he divides them into different videos.
Man i would love to have an SL like you your callouts and such are so clear and precise but you also give precise and clear orders too, love it man great vid,Also had a good team to work with to sounded like a bunch of good dudes......Love your content.....
I actually like this better than the live commentary. Not that your live is ineffective, you just know the game well enough to not have to say something mid-game that you can add during post. Didn’t think about that before. Digging it. Also random question- what kind of headphones are you using? My audio-based callouts feel pretty instinctual atm, but yours seem that extra amount of accurate. Could be an experience thing, but maybe I could use an upgrade?
I like this way a lot more as well! Its nice to be able to provide good gameplay and then well thought out commentary separately instead of getting overwhelmed by doing them at the same time. I have the HyperX Cloud 2's, so nothing special. A lot of it does come with experience. I'm closing in on 2.5k hours, so snapping to where I hear a gunshot is second nature at this point.
I like this way more. You get to see the real stream of thought this way, followed by a more analytical review when necessary. I believe this offers a more realistic reflection of what you are like in a game, and by extension, this allows you to make more accurate improvements than otherwise with the benefit of retrospective analysis. Doing the analysis in the moment seems like a bit of a stretch and distorts the gameplay to be less natural.
That was a fun round on the American side. Didn't realize it was the squad I was in vs your squad at that hab near coal mine, though we were a distraction to sneak 3 people into the southern part of that cap. Majority of both teams being at 1 point was just hectic
14:20 I don't get it why this time you didn't place HAB mark on enemy HAB plus HAB placement mark so your squad and teammates could search for enemy radio within the build radius? Probably enemy forces finally rebuilded that HAB back and then just squeezed an objective away from your noobish teammates. 14:50 what we see here is Gor being supressed by foe flank fire which misses every single shot, Gor just turns 90 degrees and with the first bullet of his burst shoots foe's brains off from 50 meters away. Did he type in chat !report on you? 18:50 remember not to open map while you're in the open.. especially if you're also in the middle of enemy controlled objective. 21:50 the perfect example why one's shouldn't immediately use bandage if your wound is not critical. +3 extra kills
You could easily saved that logi in 3:30... that apc was in a bad spot to shoot you and he was stopped, you have enough speed to just continue down the road. Happened to me too many times. But nice video, i love the series.
If I want to squad lead, and I don’t know the best plays for each map like someone with much more experience, what could I do be default on each map, that would still be useful and fun? Setting up habs seem to be the first major phase of a match, so should I just try to set up a hab somewhere?
I love the videos where you go over battles and have commentary, could it be possible to have perspectives from each team on the ground in correlation to what is happening from bird's eye view? Maybe someone from each team can record a tiny segment of the game and you can narrate their progress and focus more on each cog in the machine?
If we dug it all the way down and couldn't find the radio, then they could use the same radio to get a new HAB in an unknown position. So instead, I wanted it left at stakes, so if we couldn't find the radio, we'd still know exactly where the HAB was.

Yeah that was pretty disappointing to see. Squad isn't focused on K/D, but if you're locked in a stalemate on the flags, kills are what is going to secure the win.

I like the post commentary. I can’t imagine having to give live commentary while SL’ing given the chaos of all the different comms going off.

Actually for direct comms, what would be the keys for squads that are cmd, 10,11,12 etc? I always run into issues if it’s outside 1-9.
CMD is 0 but after 9 you're out of luck. Game devs didn't include those.
Yep like luke said, you can't direct comm them. Kinda sucks

small segments of the battle, maybe 5-10 minutes each
Glad to hear it! It's possible. I'll have to look into it some more and see how I could do it.
That 14:50 🥶
Have you ever thought about accepting viewer games and analyzing them ?

Lol been there
Why did you only reduce the HAB to stakes? And not fully? Just curious
