The difficulty spike is actually hilarious to me. It's like devs took it personally when people said the base game was easy, and they've made it their mission to prove something to them.
Tails' Cyclone Boost is a 100% game changer. You can legit just fly over everything. If you gun for it with the Skill Points you get from Koco's, you can get it pretty fast.
Yeah, I saw that section and I was like "what the heck is this guy even talking about?" Lol. Not to mention, you can get tail's charge wrench flip off the stand in midair and keep flying. I don't really get how he compares Tail's flying to Amy's and Knuckle's Glide when they are no where close to tail's flying, it was really weird to hear him say that.
I’m overall happy with how the Final Horizons update turned out. It’s not perfect, not by a long shot, but I had fun playing through it. It feels like a proper send off to Sonic Frontiers, and it has me excited for the future of the Sonic series. Something I couldn’t say 6 years ago with Forces.
I think despite any shortcomings it may have had, it was an update well-worth anybody's time. I kinda wish it came out in November to give it more time, but to also be more of a celebration of Frontiers turning 1 year old. As a whole, Final Horizon feels more like a celebration for what Frontiers has made for the franchise. From all of the epic things from action and gimmick mechanics, to the character writing and well toned story. This should've been marketed as a birthday DLC in its own right, because it honestly is. Even still, I'm glad Sonic Team did this for us.
It’s the fact that this is longest they have ever been playable individually in a solo Sonic game since all of their Adventure stories are about 20-30 minutes each. I already spent like 3-4 hours each on them
@@kelving420 "the longest they have ever been played INDIVIDUALLY" you are technically ALWAYS controlling 3 characters with knuckles all his attacks have you use them as boxing gloves and with tails his launch them toward the enemy so yeah the longest they anyone but sonic has been played individually
The difficulty reminds me of the first Sonic the hedgehog game. It's so hard for me I am guaranteed rage quit everytime. I see that the difficulty is back, so I gotta prepare myself, huh? 😆
I honestly feel like it's amazing. Granted, I also loved the base game, and this is just more and harder of that. If you didn't like frontiers, the update does nothing to fix it, but if you really enjoyed it, I feel like you'll love this.
@@aktonio1710no just go to the final island where u spawn go backwards and you should see a ring if you can't see it you should check if your games updated
I adored this entire DLC. I struggled at times, and got extremely frustrated, but looking back on it after beating it, this is some of the most fun I've ever had. Solid 9/10 DLC
I honestly thought Tails was one of the best characters probably tied with Amy, his flying while not being able to change the height is still easy to control, it doesn’t have nearly as slow of turning like Knuckles so it makes it easier to reorient yourself when you mess up a platform challenge, I also like how his flying lasts pretty long and is decently fast. And while I think they should still give him a homing attack next time, the wrenches were nice to use when fighting enemies, felt more fluent then both Knuckles and Amy. And yea the Cyclone is absolutely overpowered, you can essentially just skip any platform challenge with it and cheese any scenario your in which kinda made Tails more fun as you can basically do whatever you want with him. While I think Amy is the best when it came to platforming, I feel like Tails is the most fun when traversing the island
I think they wanna test the water first for the playable character to see how it works or not and they probably will polished for the playable character for the next sonic game
Why is absolutely nobody talking about the fully realized new cyberspace levels?? They take full advantage of the spin dash and momentum in a way the original game never did! It's like some of the original Sonic adventure levels on crack! Especially the one where you get to race a virtual tales. There are multiple pathways, hidden goals and animals to save. Honestly it's some of the best content in update 3 that everyone just skipped to see the new ending.
My main issue isn't the difficulty spike but the new mechanics that don't really get explained to you, mostly involving the skill tree. I had no idea how to destroy the protected purple crates for a long while, neither how to deal with the purple machines that needed a Cyloop in the air at times (which is on Trial Tower 4 and I honestly still have no idea how to do that as Sonic)
I feel like this update was really good for people who already really enjoyed frontiers, but those who weren't quite into it will not like this at all. Also, the fact they made it hard is kinda funny to me, like the devs really took it personally that people said the game was easy or something lol
I completely forgot both that the spindash is in this game and that you can change the difficultly after having already set it to hard, and yet I still beat the whole thing relatively easily. The only real hard parts were getting up the second tower (which I enjoyed anyway cuz it kinda reminded me of games like Only Up and Jump King) and the Wyvern part of the boss rush. Anyone else?
@Izhen_UwU Nah this is beyond Eggmanland, on hard difficulty, you pretty much have to completely get through every boss fight with absolute perfection, timing windows are extremely extremely small for perfect parrying on hard mode too
Personally the boss rush was absolutely amazing when i look back at it and this is coming from a 12 year old with a broken controller that turns off every 40 seconds. It felt like i was playing the bosses for the first time again
YESSS It felt SO GOOD to finally TRY to beat something! I couldn’t stop smiling every time I died, because it was so fun ACTUALLY HAVING TO THINK for these! "How can I shave off a few more seconds?" "Which attack combo does more damage faster?" or "Does this move freeze them?"
Fighting the bosses for the first time: Oh boy! This is gonna be epic! Refighting bosses: I killed Giganto in 0.00001 seconds. yay. Fighting bosses in the boss rush: Oh boy, this is gonna be epic!
@@BLUE-dw4tcoh my god that’s exactly how I think, you are a saint FINALLY, a person viewing the difficulty in a good light and not whining about how hard it is. Many people complaining about the difficulty don’t seem to get what trial and error is. It’s hard because it forces you to think, experiment and learn. It’s meant to be a challenge. It makes you actually try instead of just beating the boss in one try, because doing it the normal way wouldn’t be as fun. It made me feel weirdly nostalgic, because I remember back when games were super hard like that. Back when they were ruthless, and they taught you trial and error, they taught you to experiment and think. Update 3 brought back my love for difficult games like that, and it made me so happy. Not meaning to offend anyone, but I think people have gotten too used to Sonic games being easy, and now many are upset because of the difficulty. If only they thought more like you. But then again, hard games aren’t for everyone, so I guess I understand.
@@mehilollFor me, the problem wasn't the difficulty itself but how they made it difficult. It was a spike in difficulty and they forced you to strip to basic stats which made it feel cheap. It just felt like a cheap difficulty
I loved the way they handled Amy. The hammer was a bit underused in my opinion, but it doesn't take away the fact that she is probably the best character of the dlc. I even tried climbing some towers with her just for fun and it was surprisingly easy.
It's actually really funny the only hard part of boss rush for me was wyvern because it's the only fight where you have to wait a full 30 seconds to fight between fly around sections and if you miss a parry it's another 30 seconds the other two you just parry to death
Most people were like that, I knew when I started the boss rush that wyvern is gonna be annoying because of how much you need to parry it, I had to bump down the difficulty to easy in order to even beat that trial
I actually really like how Tails plays. The fact that he doesn't lose elevation like Amy or Knuckles is actually pretty helpful. Plus, the Cyclone is a complete game breaker! (Not saying that you're wrong, everyone's allowed to have an opinion. I just wanted to share my thoughts.)
I am in the middle with the update. The difficulty of the first trial towers has me coping and seething just like everyone else, but everything else puts me in a situation where I can ignore the difficulty because the update is awesome.
@@CybertrooperOfficial Find what? I mean, to continue playing as other characters I think you need to play on the Final Horizon save file. I don’t know if you can go to other islands and stuff, but you can change character by talking to the Master King Koko or whatever his name was.
ITS AWESOME SO HERE ARE SOME TIPS FOR THE TOWERS FOR UPDATE 3 TIP 1: if your having trouble precisely landing on platforms surrounding the towers try turning your deceleration settings all the way up, jump deceleration all the way up, deceleration all the way up which this can help you not run off the platforms like a maniac TIP 2: if you keep falling off of the platforms or other things try using the dodge roll in the air using the left/right bumpers and i think q/e on pc which you can maneuver yourself on the nearest platform TIP 3: easy mode can help you clear the towers faster by adding balloons that you can homing attack and other things to make it easier and that's all the tips hope this helps :D
I LOVE Super Sonic 2. He looks so badass and I love the way he parries. He doesn’t even go into the guard stance. He just waves his hand and parries attacks that are bigger than most houses. And the red aura is so freaking cool! And the full corrupted form Sonic goes into at the end of the final fight looks so cool. It should be unlocked for you if you replay the fight as a bonus for beating the game. So yeah, Super Sonic 2 is the GOAT.
Man kishimoto really took those “this game is to easy” to heart and I’m sorry I can’t do it on normal the only reason I was able to get to that epic finale was on easy mode
During the second(?) tower where you need to traverse a few sections of it by homing attacking into the purple walls, I was quick to notice that they don't respawn. Rather than restarting my game to force them into respawning, my stubborn ass kept jumping back on the remaining, narrow vertical walls and tight-roping across. I made that tower way harder than I needed to lmfao
Yeah, I got tired of reloading (and didn't know changing difficulty adds balloons/springs, was playing on hard) and went the tight-rope route. It actually helped me climb the tower since it made me change rhythm. Adjusting the jump and deceleration values when needed also helped along the way.
I wasn't expecting the sheer scope of this DLC. I figured maybe a level for each character and then a new final boss and was floored to see how they'd remixed all of Ouranos, including the stages. Haven't had a chance to really dig in but I got back to the Sonic part and I have to say that I actually really enjoy all three of the other characters. Knuckles' glide actually works very well for me (maybe people were accustomed to how snappy it was in the Adventure games, which I can't blame them for) and I actually really love the mechanics behind Tail's flight. That's not 'just another glide' when you get the boost and *maintain your height* for a pretty decent chunk of time. (And of course that's not taking the Cyclone into account-- I got that thing pretty quick and just flew to the last couple objectives. Frankly it felt like cheating but I'm kind of okay with that. If he didn't want us to fly forever it wouldn't literally be on the skill tree.) The only real issue I have is that Sonic's friends feel *incredibly* slippery. Sonic himself stops on a dime so it wasn't an issue of having weird settings, I just really had a problem where trying to make any kind of subtle movement on the ground was basically impossible. Although it turned out I was also trying to do things that were meant for other characters so I was also just making life much harder on myself for no reason. Still it would be nice if those physics were fixed, it's kind of crazy that Sonic feels so precise and then I nudge the control stick with Amy and it takes her like half the map to come to a stop.
Dang bro, we live in a time where a full price Sonic game with free dlc offers a much better deal then a full priced Pokemon game with paid dlc That's low-key surreal.
Overall I liked the update, there are only two things that really pissed me off. 1.) Master King Kocos trial on hard mode. You must frame perfect parry and that is insane. I will say tho, the length of the parry on easy actually feels better than the base game parry. B.) How SupremeEnds fight actually works. You have to attack the cord on Supreme to break it off so you can damage Supreme. The problem is targeting the cord is a pain in the ass that requires doing something that the game never tells you you can do. On another note, in the future I hope they let Knuckles climb everything again, let Amy fight with her Hammer, and let Tails tail whip.
I mean, the last trial I had fun with tbh. The only one that generally scared me was Wyvern since they're parry based in order to win. Knight a little bit since their attacks were actually hard to parry and his second phase was annoying. But once Wyvern was mastered, Knight was pretty much dead.
Knuckles is actually my favourite character in this update and I literally only use him due to an infinite height glitch. If you do that uppercut combo, use parry and repeat you can gain infinite height. Once you have the infinite glide too you can use his glide and cheese 90% of this update
12:50 i actually figured out a trick or two if anyone is struggling/ intrested. I don't know if it's common knowledge, but the cyloop on the bosses will actually decrease their defense, making it easier to drop their health. Do it to the Knight because he'll really drain your rings otherwise, the others are pretty open to attack, give or take a few good parries, but the shield surf will take longer on a second cycle, so yeah. Do it to the other bosses, but Kinght especially. Needless to say, use quick cyloop The other thing is the perfect parry, the window is generous but not infinite, but you can refresh it by just letting go one of the bumpers and pressing it down. I was in a panic, but it doesn't seem like Sonic moves, so if you feel like you timed it too early then just do that and that might be good, but you can get hit when you do let go, so it might also just be better to risk holding on.
FINALLY New Playable Characters, Sonic Team listening to us, that alone is enough to make me very excited for the future of Sonic, a fusion of the boost formula and the Adventure formula of multiple characters for play styles has been my dream since Sonic Unleashed was out 🥰
I loved this update, I loved playing as the other characters and exploring in ways sonic could not, facing the herder version of the bosses was amazing(ly difficult) the trial tower climbs were fun, the trial towers themselves were also really fun, 3 and 4 were a nice break, but master king’s boss rush trial was so difficult I had to look up a guide on how to beat it, (giganto, attack once, stomp, repeat, wyvern, I would cyloop twice then cross slash, and do that again when I can in second phase, then the stomping begins after the quarter health qte, knight, button mash when knight is circling you, spin slash is a good way to stay locked on to knight, second phase, spam stomp and cyloop once at a time) the end was really fun to play, a little confusing until I realized I need to sidestep the head to get to the plug, but overall I love this game and it’s update, also supreme galloping on all fours as it’s Jetpack arms go wild will forever be in my nightmares.
Fun fact: For the snake trial there’s a way easier way to finish it: get hit in the beginning so that you’re slow enough to not go at the end of the goddam map when you activate turbo and so that you’re fast enough to do quick cyber loops. Next, cyber loop the crap out of those frickin’ robots.
I only don't like the wrench throw attack, I knew Tails would receive a weapon(actually known as cyber-blaster) and it happened, I thought he would use the weapon to shot the enemies but it doesn't happened, they prefered Tails use wrenches to attack.
Ok, before I fully watch this, I'm gonna say. If I hear any "This is way too hard, this is a bad update" or any of that nonsense, I'm f@%king done! I'm so done with Sonic being the target of stupid double standards! Sonic has an update that makes a portion, A PORTION! AN OPTIONAL PORTION! Super difficult, not impossible, just really difficult, but I never see ANYONE rag on Megaman, Cuphead, Hollow Knight, Master Mode or Old School Zelda, Metroid, OR Castlevania! All age rated around the same as Sonic Frontiers btw! E10+ to Teen!
I really love this new update! Personally I enjoy the towers and trials being a serious test of skill despite how frustrating they definitely can be. The new playable characters are so much fun! I was playing through them for the first time and wondering if they were supposed to be this broken lol. I liked that Amy’s attacks were more focused on her cards because it made her visually a lot more unique. Knuckles’ glide is a little hard to control at times, but I honestly didn’t mind it too much. Tails confused me at first when I discovered that he had no homing attack which felt really weird, but surprisingly after a while I almost started enjoying the fact that he didn’t have the homing attack because it challenged me to use his other abilities to my advantage and to figure out other ways to get around which kept things interesting for me. If there was one complaint I had for these characters, it would be how much Amy and Tails’ extra jumps would mess up my camera which made me feel like I was fighting with it half the time. Another thing I liked about this update was how they kept Sonic the fastest and most powerful of the group. It actually feels good to get back to playing Sonic after running around and exploring with the new characters, rather than it feeling like the main character is boring to play compared to the others which is a problem I have often found while playing games with multiple playable characters. Side note, I thought it was really cool how all the characters each had their own parry animation. I laughed when Tails pulled out a spring to deflect the attacks and thought it was super cute
Imo what they should have done for the boss rush is make it so that performing a perfect parry gave you back a couple of rings each time you did it, so that doing it well gave you more time. That'd also make the wyvern more bearable given how many parries are needed just to hurt it, and how much time is wasted just waiting for it to launch missiles at you.
So for the second tower fight, the method I used (that I have yet to see someone mention) involved cylooping the enemy, spindashing into them, and immediately start punching, which would let me get in about a full basic combo before the hat came back down.
I had to deal with the pain of forgetting I can still stomp after losing other abilities and just tried to punch as fast as possible I was also trying to do the challenge with Controller Drift
What a little difficultly does to the community. I personally loved every second. Making me try, it's always a good thing. It's that of game that you remember in the back of your head kind of thing. Amy Knux and Tails were fun to play with and once everyone got most of the upgrades, they felt amazing, all of them. The complaint about tails without a homing attack, I personally didn't mind it since you can just tap the fly to get more precise flying.
I personally really liked every character in this update, Tails being a big surprise to me As much as his my third fav character in Sonic, I was expecting his gameplay to just not be entertaining, a fear that got worse once I found out he can't homing attack. But again, Tails surprised me. His wrench attack is much better for taking down enemies than the slow homing attack, on top of looking really funny. The lack of a homing attack didn't really compromise platforming either, since, at least for me, I RARELY missed jumps to to depth perception and his "flight", combined with the charged wrech attack makes the lack of homing attack really not a big problem. His challenges were also some of the most fun to me, since they combine the platforming with some neat and moderatelly difficult puzzle solving. Not to mention, that I've been waiting the whole year to glide around with Knuckles, but boy, is the tornado much better. It made for some really cool photos in photo mode as well. Also a hot take: while Amy IS the best character of the update, I enjoyed flying around with Knuckles and Tails more than I should. Amy's glide is not the same as the glide with max rings or Tornado with inifinte fuel, making her the third character that I enjoyed the most in the update
@@sourlab sonic frontiers didn’t need saving, but that doesn’t mean the new updates didn’t make it better. Nor does it mean base sonic frontiers needed to be saved by it.
4:39 It actually *is* the way it was meant to be played. This sort of level design based around finding whatever way you can to skip parts of the level has been around since Sonic 1 on the Genesis, and was perfected in Sonic Adventure, which is a game that Frontiers takes a lot of inspiration from. Finding unintended skips IS intentional. Always has been. Anyone who says it's not is treating Sonic like Mario, when this is one of the things that set him apart from Mario in the first place. Sonic games aren't about "following the rules." They never were to begin with.
When I learned for myself how hard this update was, I pretty much tried to complete it as quickly as possible. Upon taking this approach, I learned how meaningless the Guardian fights and the Cyber Space stages are, since you can also pick up gears and Lookout Koco by cylooping item beacons scattered around the island. With how hard the Guardians are to beat in this update, even with Sonic and all of his moves unlocked, I gave up rather quickly on them. Maybe sometime in the future when I inevitably play this game again, I might try to 100% everything...emphasis on might...
I had fun CHEATING the system and skipping 60% of the challenges by fully upgrading the characters and taking advantage of the spin dash, card float, infinite glide, and cyclone. I would use easy mode to climb up the towers and then cyclone or glide to wherever I was aiming from the top
We call it when a community want something from a game the devs give them “OVER DELIVERY” And the only problem I have with this update is the camera angle in platforming and Titan battles but man seeing sonic going all ultra fighter Z against the End(Supreme) was beautiful.
I notice not a lot people talked about this, but Tails' charge attack can be used to boost him up and then restart his flying sequence... essentially making his attack from one of the most useless into one of the most useful attacks out of the 4 For me, Knuckles was the least favorite for me
Nah the second trial was easily the best. It seems impossible at first, but I figured out on my own that the problem is these things putting their protection back on, and after that, I figured that if I could prevent it from happening, I could do this a lot faster. And I did. I figured out that the strategy was to stand on top of them, parry their protection, hit them a few times, parry again, and repeat. This trial is great because it asks you to think outside the box, and when you figure it out it feels great (instead of frustrating like the rest of this DLC)
Personally, I loved this update! The difficulty spikes were definitely a bit much, the boss rush was a nightmare, and the final boss was... messy, due to unexplained mechanics required to beat it and the freaking trees blocking your view of the fight, but despite all that I had a fantastic time! And a lot of that was BECAUSE of the difficulty! I haven't felt this accomplished for beating a Sonic game since I first beat SA2 as a kid!! Could it have been better balanced? Yeah, and honestly I hope they at least tweak some things for the lower difficulty settings, same as they did for Rhea in Update 2, but I am really happy with this. It kicked the crap out of me, and I loved every second of it
The 2 TRIAL IS EASY IF YOU FOLLOW THIS STRATEGY: attack when they throw the shield and parry the shield, attack and parry. If the shield is far from the enemy, the window to attack will be much bigger. I finished with 49 extra seconds
I feel like tails is underrated in this update to me he plays very good, i love the way he plays and i wouldnt change anything if im being honest, when hes flying he can use his wrench to gain additional boost to his height and he cam even fly infinitely if you know how to use his skills to help him and learning how to fight as him has been very rewarding you just gotta learn how to utilize his skills and i love his playstyle
Agree on Amy For knuckles I think if gliding and combat controlled like adventure and climbing was less selective he'd be perfect Bro, the jet was super fast to unlock. I had it by later in the first segment as tails. Those traveler koko give so much xp depending on the one you find. That being said I agree he's not great. Ngl, the sonic stuff is nothing but straight fire. I wish the base game had more of a gradual build up to this difficulty. But I fully hope we get more of this level of challenge in future games. Doing the titans on hard mode took me like 45 minutes. Shit was intense.... Which again is good. But having sonic's unique style of gameplay be brave enough to incorporate high skill gameplay is exactly what the series needs to have lasting appeal on an individual title level. Can't comment after the boss rush though, as I just finished it. But hopefully the final boss cooks hard.
One thing that really made me like tails was that I found a way to have him fly higher. Basically, tails starts hovering to after he flies with his tails. While holding down the fly button, I threw the wrench platform in the air and went to it. This reset the jumps and allowed me to get to where I needed to go in many of the challenges and also reset the time that I can stay in the air
I finished DLC yesterday. Level design is top tier. It's hard, but the final boss battle costs this. Great game and even greater DLC, they made Sonic great again
the best way to beat the 2nd trial is to let a shell enemy hit you once so that you aren't at uncontrollable speeds, then cyloop around the enemy, and attack, repeat.
personally this feels like sonic adventure, since it was also used as a testing ground that lead to SA2. which means that the next game is gonna knock it out of the ball park just like Sonic Adventure 2 did
I wish we had an extra gimmick final phase against The End with a direct confrontation as that Cyber Sonic from the cutscene where we beat the absolute shit out of it, Sonic has an infinite supply of rings and The End has no health bar. Sonic does damage with numbers over 1000 every hit and after that the damage sums up, just like the punching sack map challenges. Zelda TotK did about the same. It had an amazing and challenging final boss and the final phase was just an easy gimmick battle which added great to the atmosphere. The cutscene alone is still raw though.
bruh i instantly unlocked spin dash for everyone and it made them all so much fun before i began getting deeper into the characters sections and basically flew over everything by zoning jyself on those xp koco, tails xan fly infinitely wort the leveled up wrench throw, if u lose ur tornado mech in air u can throw the wrench platform n keep going. idk i didn’t think it felt right to play these characters period while they weren’t maxed out like sonic, i kept ring skills to 1 then for the final battle switched my speed for max rings and in one go i beat that thing after 992 rings worth of trial and error truly amazing feeling to have barely figured that fight out
9:54 About that... I never used spindash on any of the towers, I thought it would be too risky and I didn't want to fall off. I also played on hard for all of them and only used boost a few times, it was painful af but I managed somehow
Just got the CD soundtrack for this games 3rd update The Final Horizon the mail today at 2:34p.m. and it's the Sonic Frontiers Expansion Soundtrack: Paths Revisited CD and I'm listening to it while watching this! 5:34p.m. 12/19/2023
I liked the difficulty of the new update, but it should absolutely not have been the default. It should have scaled with the player’s difficulty level. The difficulty of the base game is perfectly acceptable for Easy, the new challenges on Ouranos works for Extreme, and everything in between should be properly scaled. Not everyone can tolerate challenging enemies and level design, so it’s unfair to make everyone have to experience it.
I feel they need to make the parry timing a bit more forgiving because the timing for each of the titans attacks (ESPECIALLY WYVERN'S) is extremely inconsistent. These bosses were clearly not meant with a perfect parry in mind. And you can say the others trials are meant to prepare you for that but the other trials don't make you use the perfect parry and there are even tips about the parry not needing to be timed during load screens. So I wouldn't blame anyone for having a hard time with Master King's trial.
I wonder if this means we now have a LoZ situation on our hands. I mean, did the timeline just split and now we have a timeline where Sage survived and another where she sacrificed herself, because the end credits scene of Eggman hacking into Ancient Cyberspace was cut because Sage is still here. But wouldn't Eggman still want to utilize the Ancients' technology?
Going with the Tails Miles Prowler (miles per hour) thing most sonic characters and forms have, sonic's new form could follow this naming route: Sonic > Super Sonic > Hyper Sonic > Ultra Sonic > Lightspeed Sonic. This is going on the term supersonic speed, Ultrasonic being a soundwave that animals like bats use, so what's faster than Ultrasonic? Well what is faster than the speed of sound? How about Speed of Light? This also fits with sonics past as sonic has a skill called "Light speed dash" so Lightspeed Sonic can technically be hinted to since the first adventure game! The change to speed of sound to speed of light also matches the inspiration for sonics form with goku's super saiyan. Where ultra instinct is very different from a normal saiyan transformation, so it could be implied for sonic as well; especially with the reveal of this dark sonic being similar to ultra instinct for gogeta in the broly movie. It all fits! :D
I think Knuckles for the next game needs to be the character that balances combat and platforming like Sonic in this game. For the most part Knuckles should have goal rings to reach instead of just treasure hunting levels. Also his stages should be designed vertically instead of horizontally like Sonic since he climbs very well, drills and glide’s
So nobody notice that at the end when sonic uses the corruption's full power for some seconds you can see his face and it's a fleetawy refernce cause this full power of corruption super sonic has spiral eyes and sharp theeth just like fleetway's interpetation of super sonic(for those who haven't play'd the update i just spoild you)
Dev 1: Hey man, this is pretty difficult and I can't get through it... Should we maybe tweak some things? Dev 2: Nah. Dev 1: But the players are gonna complain about the difficulty... Dev 2: Fuck em.
I was actually able to beat the final boss rush trial after 3 or 4 attempts. And the more I retried it, the more health I was able to scrape off Giganto and Wyvern (one point even got me laughing about how absurdly fast I was able to get Wyvern’s down). I was able to beat Knight in one go, but I only had like 15 or so rings by the end of it so it was a close call. I really enjoyed this final update, and I enjoyed playing as all the characters, even if there wasn’t a whole lot of balance. And that revamped Supreme Fight was AMAZING!!!!! Edit: I think I didn’t have as bad of a time because I had it at easy or normal mode (I can’t remember which), but I didn’t realize that I did, and completely forgot to change it back. Though, there isn’t any shame in having to do it like that, in my opinion, because it is okay, and it’s a video game at the end of the day, so it’s really not a huge deal.
controversial opinion. i actually liked that tails didnt have a homing attack. i ended up playing him as a little bomber. learning to adjust my flight and throwing charged wrench attacks (used this to stomp the heck outta TANK). His gun cyloop thing made fighting caterpillar fun for me. chasing it down, shootin em with it and having a far easier time than everyone except sonic in dealing with it and many others. it made me have to rethink how i approached combat with him. also.... CYCLONE!!!!!!!
In the game files sonic new form is funny enough called super sonic 2 and also they ven reference fleetway sonic if you loo closely when he shot out of the gun and camera is on his face you will notice the eye and teeth
The difficulty spike is actually hilarious to me. It's like devs took it personally when people said the base game was easy, and they've made it their mission to prove something to them.
Kinda kills the fun for me who’s on easy mode for the whole game

You’re right it’s not perfect but I think the least it’s decent
Correct. It is not perfect nor it is the best. Unlike what Forces was. It is pretty decent to be exact.
It has flaws, but it is an amazing update that wraps frontiers up in a neat bow.
@@aerodynamo4874 I agree. Same.
It’s the fact that this is longest they have ever been playable individually in a solo Sonic game since all of their Adventure stories are about 20-30 minutes each. I already spent like 3-4 hours each on them
Second longest*
Sonic heroes would like to have a word with you
@@kelving420 "the longest they have ever been played INDIVIDUALLY" you are technically ALWAYS controlling 3 characters with knuckles all his attacks have you use them as boxing gloves and with tails his launch them toward the enemy so yeah the longest they anyone but sonic has been played individually
This update is so good. A bit difficult, but nothing like a little challenge in a Sonic game. *It's Funny how Amy ended up playing the best* 😅
i think all 3 of them control well
The cyclone is so broken and I loved it my biggest problem with tails is the lack of homing attack
If you didn't like frontiers, the update does nothing to fix it, but if you really enjoyed it, I feel like you'll love this.
to me, Tails gets so many props cuz of how fun his plane is alone. That part was AWESOME and so much fun to abuse!
The spin dash is completely necessary to cheese some of these platforming challenges.
Also you can side step through laser barriers in amy and tails platforming sections. So you can skip all of those puzzles lol
I would also say the new cyberspace levels are also designed around the spin dash?

You need to use the Quick Cyloop. If you don't enough meter for it, just keep attacking the switch until you do.
I feel like this update was really good for people who already really enjoyed frontiers, but those who weren't quite into it will not like this at all. Also, the fact they made it hard is kinda funny to me, like the devs really took it personally that people said the game was easy or something lol
Yeah its basically everyones fault for complaining and the deves were like" Oh its too easy for you? Ok hold on i can fix that."
I really loved this update. The end was so hype.
But exaggeratedly epic and worthy for Sonic's redemption
I completely forgot both that the spindash is in this game and that you can change the difficultly after having already set it to hard, and yet I still beat the whole thing relatively easily. The only real hard parts were getting up the second tower (which I enjoyed anyway cuz it kinda reminded me of games like Only Up and Jump King) and the Wyvern part of the boss rush. Anyone else?
I think this update is really good the only thing that really killed me was the last trial and climbing the towers
The last trial is literally eggmanland difficulty.
The last trial was amazing
tip: you can skip the second (and possibly the third tower) by using hyperbounce on the platform that flies up near the edge of the cliff
The towers on hard mode were basically only up but with sonic physics
@Izhen_UwU Nah this is beyond Eggmanland, on hard difficulty, you pretty much have to completely get through every boss fight with absolute perfection, timing windows are extremely extremely small for perfect parrying on hard mode too
Personally the boss rush was absolutely amazing when i look back at it and this is coming from a 12 year old with a broken controller that turns off every 40 seconds. It felt like i was playing the bosses for the first time again
YESSS
It felt SO GOOD to finally TRY to beat something!
What a little bit of difficulty can do for a fight. Damn I loved every second of the boss rush.
@@BLUE-dw4tcoh my god that’s exactly how I think, you are a saint
FINALLY, a person viewing the difficulty in a good light and not whining about how hard it is.
For the second trial you can just kick the enemies twice then press the stomp button for extra damage that made it way easier
@@gabeiscool19835agreed...
It's upsettingly easy afterwards, but not because the fight changes, rather that parrying is finally reliable.
I actually really like how Tails plays. The fact that he doesn't lose elevation like Amy or Knuckles is actually pretty helpful. Plus, the Cyclone is a complete game breaker! (Not saying that you're wrong, everyone's allowed to have an opinion. I just wanted to share my thoughts.)
honestly this update was my favorite, because of the difficulty. especially versing tank + with sonic! very fun when you learn it.
AR YOU A FURRY?????
wha
I didn't even try fighting Tank+. I already hate the tank enough.
I might try when I can be bothered dealing with tanks
What are you smoking??? The difficulty makes me really hate the update
I am in the middle with the update. The difficulty of the first trial towers has me coping and seething just like everyone else, but everything else puts me in a situation where I can ignore the difficulty because the update is awesome.
I like the playable characters and the story, but not the difficulty of the towers and the trials, the next sonic game is going to be amazing

ITS AWESOME SO HERE ARE SOME TIPS FOR THE TOWERS FOR UPDATE 3
TIP 1: if your having trouble precisely landing on platforms surrounding the towers try turning your deceleration settings all the way up, jump deceleration all the way up, deceleration all the way up which this can help you not run off the platforms like a maniac
TIP 2: if you keep falling off of the platforms or other things try using the dodge roll in the air using the left/right bumpers and i think q/e on pc which you can maneuver yourself on the nearest platform
TIP 3: easy mode can help you clear the towers faster by adding balloons that you can homing attack and other things to make it easier
and that's all the tips hope this helps :D

I LOVE Super Sonic 2. He looks so badass and I love the way he parries. He doesn’t even go into the guard stance. He just waves his hand and parries attacks that are bigger than most houses. And the red aura is so freaking cool!
And the full corrupted form Sonic goes into at the end of the final fight looks so cool. It should be unlocked for you if you replay the fight as a bonus for beating the game.
So yeah, Super Sonic 2 is the GOAT.
The edits never disappoint 🙏

Man kishimoto really took those “this game is to easy” to heart and I’m sorry I can’t do it on normal the only reason I was able to get to that epic finale was on easy mode
Once you beat it can you still play as the other characters?
During the second(?) tower where you need to traverse a few sections of it by homing attacking into the purple walls, I was quick to notice that they don't respawn. Rather than restarting my game to force them into respawning, my stubborn ass kept jumping back on the remaining, narrow vertical walls and tight-roping across. I made that tower way harder than I needed to lmfao
You don’t understand how happy I am to hear someone else having the same problem 😂
yup, i framed it in my mind as an extra challenge to encourage me to not fall (i fell regardless)
i like the tightrope idea lol
If he didn't want us to fly forever it wouldn't literally be on the skill tree.)
The only real issue I have is that Sonic's friends feel *incredibly* slippery.
Dang bro, we live in a time where a full price Sonic game with free dlc offers a much better deal then a full priced Pokemon game with paid dlc
That's low-key surreal.
Gonna be totally honest, I feel like a lot of the difficulty complaints are skill issue, I've seen some clips and I'm baffled at how some people play
I actually really like this update the new playable characters play really well
Overall I liked the update, there are only two things that really pissed me off.
Needless to say, use quick cyloop
The other thing is the perfect parry, the window is generous but not infinite, but you can refresh it by just letting go one of the bumpers and pressing it down. I was in a panic, but it doesn't seem like Sonic moves, so if you feel like you timed it too early then just do that and that might be good, but you can get hit when you do let go, so it might also just be better to risk holding on.
Little trick, if you wanna go higher with Knuckles, press X three times and parry, do this until reaching your goal 😂
14:25 So according to the files, this form is called "Super Sonic 2".
I think the sonic frontiers update 3 is just amazing sonic show and I love your sonic news!
I loved the final boss!
Fun fact:
For the snake trial there’s a way easier way to finish it: get hit in the beginning so that you’re slow enough to not go at the end of the goddam map when you activate turbo and so that you’re fast enough to do quick cyber loops.
Lol I heard the price is right theme in the background. Also that was an excellent review and I agree with pretty much everything you said.
I Cylooped, slid into them with a kick, then started punching
I had to deal with the pain of forgetting I can still stomp after losing other abilities and just tried to punch as fast as possible
I was also trying to do the challenge with Controller Drift
@@AnimationDude_ trying to play that dlc in general with stick drift sounds terrible.

I love that the final attack to the boss in the cutscene looks like an refences to Sonic X.
Jaiden: did they play test this!?
Utensill:That’s what I was thinking
I personally really liked every character in this update, Tails being a big surprise to me
As much as his my third fav character in Sonic, I was expecting his gameplay to just not be entertaining, a fear that got worse once I found out he can't homing attack.

"I gotta be real, complete honesty here, we deserve this" - Regarding the difficulty spike.
I mean, you're not exactly wrong XD
I had fun CHEATING the system and skipping 60% of the challenges by fully upgrading the characters and taking advantage of the spin dash, card float, infinite glide, and cyclone. I would use easy mode to climb up the towers and then cyclone or glide to wherever I was aiming from the top
We call it when a community want something from a game the devs give them “OVER DELIVERY”
And the only problem I have with this update is the camera angle in platforming and Titan battles but man seeing sonic going all ultra fighter Z against the End(Supreme) was beautiful.
I notice not a lot people talked about this, but Tails' charge attack can be used to boost him up and then restart his flying sequence... essentially making his attack from one of the most useless into one of the most useful attacks out of the 4
For me, Knuckles was the least favorite for me
The Boss Rush section recently got changed so if you go on easy difficulty you get 600 rings and level 25 attack making it much easier
Agree on Amy
For knuckles I think if gliding and combat controlled like adventure and climbing was less selective he'd be perfect
Bro, the jet was super fast to unlock.
I just looove that when sinic goes wild and shows his fangs in full feral mode
the best way to beat the 2nd trial is to let a shell enemy hit you once so that you aren't at uncontrollable speeds, then cyloop around the enemy, and attack, repeat.
personally this feels like sonic adventure, since it was also used as a testing ground that lead to SA2. which means that the next game is gonna knock it out of the ball park just like Sonic Adventure 2 did
I wish we had an extra gimmick final phase against The End with a direct confrontation as that Cyber Sonic from the cutscene where we beat the absolute shit out of it, Sonic has an infinite supply of rings and The End has no health bar.

I hate the fact that you can't just climb on any wall as Knuckles, they did my boy dirty
The glitche from sonic boom when knuckles flys is back bro
I wonder if this means we now have a LoZ situation on our hands. I mean, did the timeline just split and now we have a timeline where Sage survived and another where she sacrificed herself, because the end credits scene of Eggman hacking into Ancient Cyberspace was cut because Sage is still here. But wouldn't Eggman still want to utilize the Ancients' technology?
I have some names for super sonic with blue eyes
1. Perfect super
2. True super
3. Full power super
4. Ascended super
5. Super sonic 2
It took me hours to notice that you had to cyloop literally everything in the final boss fight to actually do any damage
The only issue i had with the final horizon was figuring out out to target the final bosses umbilical cord, that irritated the crap out of me.
Aside from the boss rush mode and Tails gameplay im overall happy with this update and looking forward to the future
Going with the Tails Miles Prowler (miles per hour) thing most sonic characters and forms have, sonic's new form could follow this naming route:
Sonic > Super Sonic > Hyper Sonic > Ultra Sonic > Lightspeed Sonic.
I did the snake trial the cyloop way and got 14 seconds left
But that doesn't justify the dificulty spike
So nobody notice that at the end when sonic uses the corruption's full power for some seconds you can see his face and it's a fleetawy refernce cause this full power of corruption super sonic has spiral eyes and sharp theeth just like fleetway's interpetation of super sonic(for those who haven't play'd the update i just spoild you)
I am not going to watch this to avoid spoilers but this update is amazing so far
In the game files the new Super Sonic form is called "Super Sonic Cyber"
Tails’ power boost makes him my favorite
I love the difficulty spike of the game. Makes it way more enjoyable, and way more rewarding when you actually beat everything.
