Bob Latchford, great goal scorer, but was so much more - good link-up play, good at holding the ball, and good at creating chances for other players. A hero at Everton, and before that , Birmingham City

Bob Latchford says in his book that he and his co-writer did research on top scorers in the 70s and for a number of years he was top, consecutively, but was not selected for England enough and felt passed over too often. The 12 caps he had did not reflect his ability.

Never knew Christopher Moltisanti from the Sopranos played for us (1:39)...😁

Wow. How classy Goodison looked in those days. An outstanding kit, some proper attacking football and a genuinely outstanding goal from Dave Clements.
Some of our current players should watch this and realise what can happen when you pass the ball forward rather than sideways or backwards. Lovely memories.

To Chigley Bus: I agree: Some of today's players are not all 90-minute toilers. The subbing strategy subconsciously takes away from the superfitness or the seventies somewhat. Sideward passing provides respite and regrouping opportunities.

Never seen that goal before. An absolute beauty!

I loved those nets. And the pointless halfmoon behind them.
Sadly the gutless generic nomarks have installed boring box type worldwide.
I used to know EVERY footy ground by its goalposts.
And every first xi. Not now.
    I hate Corporate.
Some good old names bringing back memories of days when as a kid, I thought we were terrible.
but we were streets ahead of the dross and mess Kenwrights has spewed upon us now.
    Thanks for the splendid memory

@martinfarrington2416: We are goal net brothers from the days of yore, appreciating the triangular stanchions which defined each stadium's ground, enhancing the quality of the goals.
Today, the cookie-cutter boxy nets and pitches have me confused as to where I am. The grounds have no identity. The all-seater stadiums serve to seat wives and babies instead of the savage sapiens supporters' spirit -- singing, screaming and shouting.

@@anthonyscott4270 yep totally shambolic right now, worst Everton side ive seen in 42 yrs suport. We'll go down this time and it'll do us good, might come back stronger in 2024 but who knows as Championship is very competitive.

@@alancorbett1361 You are right Alan, we will go down but I have to disagree with it will do us good. I think if we drop as seems likely we will struggle to buy the quality players to get us back up. When you look at the players we have bought over the last few years most of them have come from teams that were hovering over the drop zone Frank should quit while there is half a season for someone else to have a little bit of a chance to try and turn things round. It would better to fight to stay up than to climb back from a hard division. I still live in hope though. COYBs.

This takes me back to when I was 20 following Newcastle all over in the 70s.
Was my 2nd visit to Goodison and it was my fourth before I ever seen us score, nevertheless it was always a great day out , the stadium was iconic with a brilliant atmosphere and the Evertonians were always fine with us back then never had any issues with them apart from the fact they always beat us there .

Was that the classy Martin dobbo taking a player out for our second goal. Prefer to think it was just a collision...

Not sure how the first save can be classed as “mishandling”? Harsh from the Sinstadt
