I just noticed that the Surge X is stamped COMP and not PRO. Is that something critical as the comparable CC ICON is stamped PRO.

There is no difference between the Comp and Pro stamp. They are the same quality and can be used in all ACL events. The Pro stamp only matters to Pro players.
