When Obama visited Thailand, the US envoy recommended this temple. There are more things to see than the Emerald Buddha Temple in the Grand Palace. Both Grand Palace and Wat Pho are must-visit if you come to Bangkok. Wat Pho was the favorite temple of King Rama III. He decreed that Siam's knowledge was inscribed in stones in this temple, thus the famous Thai massage. The Chinese God stone statues in front of gates came from China as Siam traded extensively with China back then. The opposite temple across Chao Phraya river is Temple of Dawn, a symbol of Thonburi province for decades until the province was amalgamated into Greater Bangkok Metropolis in 70s. I was born in Thonburi about 5 km away from this temple. In the temple compound there is a temple school (Prathom Thaweethapisek) which I attended for 3 years (Grade 5-7) in 1962-4.
I was in Bangkok from January 2020 until June 2022, essentially stuck there. Im amazed to see a travel vlog from that time. It was the bleakest i have ever known Bangkok and all the tourist businesses were closed. Much of the time there were lockdowns ir curfews. I definitely would have warned you not to bother had i discovered your channel back then.
Ha, we were in Thailand from October 2021 to February 2022. Thankfully we arrived after the lockdowns ended. Was actually pretty neat to see Thailand during that time. Definitely not the backpackers party paradise that some parts usually are, but it was a unique experience.
you guys were in Bangkok! Hope you enjoyed it, another feel-good video, if you ever come to Bangkok again, let me know, I've lived here for 5 years (big foodie) and can give many recommendations :)
In Thailand this time is winter season. it s good for Travel in Northern and N/E region :Chiangmai ,Chiangrai ,Maehongsorn ( Pai), Loei ,Pecharboon, Nakornrachasrima(Khao Yai) etc.by the way for the beach and The Islands are good for visit all season. and Next weeks 19th Nov is Loi Katong Festival (the famous places :Sukhotai ,Tak,Ayutthaya,Chiangmai )if you' ll stay at BKK I think Ancient City@Samut Prakarn province nearby BKK is very interesting you can go by BTS Greenline.
Thai King is official Buddhist, obligation in recent constitution. Thailand adopted the Hindu doctrines on Vishnu God's avatar, that shown in their name Rama I to X (Rama is the name of a King who is one of his avatar). However, they are Buddhists.
You were very lucky to experience Wat Pho without the bus loads of Chinese tourists. Last time I visited I left because it was so crowded and I was tired of getting hit in the head with umbrellas. Enjoy this time you’ll never experience Thailand 🇹🇭 like this again, except the flooding unfortunately.
You guys might wanna check out shopping malls in thailand. Siam Paragon and the shopping malls around it. Most thai people in their 10s, 20s, 30s go there quite often.
The cat was so sweet! It was hard to say goodbye 😂 We meant to take the ferry down the river, but got on one that crossed it instead. Best mistake ever.
Pagoda of Wat Arun is landmark of Thailand. Imagine 150 years ago, foreigners visited Thailand via the sea ship, take the river and see the pagoda on dawn from the distance. That is the sign of Bangkok arrival. The name "Arun" means "Dawn".
Bangkok and the whole central part of Thailand used to be sea floor then become wetland and now big city the land is extremely low, large part is equal to sea level some is even lower than sea level more than that it located very near the estuary this year Thailand got more rain than usual and the major rivers are link to the one in Bangkok that already totally unbearable, many places got flooded already and the worse part is the high tide that occurs around this time of the year causing the flood along the riverside It will be super high tide again during the full moon period so dont be surprise if riverside will be flooded a bit. The rainy season in Thailand is over so it wont be a major flood this year. the water level not high like this every year though.
next time, you may order foods with less spicy by saying "pet noi" (เผ็ดน้อย) = less spicy , or "mai pet" (ไม่เผ็ด) = not spicy. As for sweet drink, "wan noi"(หวานน้อย)= little sweet, or "mai wan" (ไม่หวาน) = no sugar. try english first, if they don't get it, use Thai words above. hope this help.
For me, ice coffee always too sweet so I every time order "Wan Noy" which mean "small sweet please" ,how lucky you are walking in WAT PHO only two of you and few cat, such a privilege :) ,love to watching you traveling and happily in my home town
We always try to learn some basic phrases to get around and help communicate. Beyond that, body-language goes a long way. We haven't had any trouble so far 😊
In my opinion i though if you around no one or only very few people around you you2 should wear off the mask for take vdo and more comfort .. if someone come to you you just put the mask on .. Thai life is just easy like that .. we not strict
Hi guys, amazing shots and background music, simply an awesome vlog! Also, as a Thai person, I feel embarrassed that you guys have to go through flooded piers to use the ferries. Thailand is experiencing heavy amount of rainfalls since October as well as high tides from the sea in the gulf of Thailand, and as a result the water cannot really get out of the rivers fast enough, causing water levels to rise uncontrollably for the past month or so. (Plus sort of poor management from the department of irrigation). The flood in Thailand this year is one of the worst since 2011. Anyhow, I hope you guys can still, despite the flood, enjoy you travel here, there're still so much more to explore and experience. Have a grand day you guys, and I'll be waiting to see your next vlog!!! 🙏😊
@KoalaNotBear Please don't feel embarrassed! If we made it seem like we were turned off by the flooding, that's not what we meant. It was no trouble at all, all we had to do was roll up our pants haha. Hopefully no one is injured by the floods though. When flooding happens in our country, it does a lot of damage. Thank you for having us in Thailand! 😊🙏🏼

Wat Pho was build under a Hindu King Rama I. The architect is very similar to temples in India. Hampi, Meenakshi, Rameshwaram temples.
Interesting. We have not yet been to India, but maybe one day we will go and see the resemblance 😄

We feel very lucky to have seen it at such a time. Such a stunningly beautiful place, and so is Wat Arun. Can't wait to see more of Thailand 😊
Great to see Bangkok again. Guess I need to arrange my flight soon hahaa. Keep up the good content :)
That's right thing you guys take a walk instead of take taxi you can see more local life. So many hidden gems in bangkok.
Temple of dawn is one of our iconic.
Very thank! The Buddhist art is fantastic!
The detail was very impressive!
When you have order food or drink in THAILAND you can order them that you want them less sweet or less spicy as you like. Enjoy you trip.
We have learned to ask for less sweet, but we like it spicy! 🙂
Very nice video from a great city, I enjoyed it
You guys might wanna check out shopping malls in thailand. Siam Paragon and the shopping malls around it. Most thai people in their 10s, 20s, 30s go there quite often.
Good to know. We've added Siam Paragon to the list, I don't think we visited that one.
You can find delicious and cheap food at terminal 21 Asok. And go to Yaowarat from evening to night.
Thanks for the tip! We have a whole list of cool things to do when we go back to Bangkok, thanks to people commenting 😄
Lost in Bangkok and ended up visiting one of the most famous temples in Thailand. Good job 👏
Getting lost seems to be our speciality 😅
OMG that temple black kitty is toooo sweet. He loved you.
You got lost and you ended up at one of the most iconic temples of Thailand? KUDO!!!
The cat was so sweet! It was hard to say goodbye 😂
We meant to take the ferry down the river, but got on one that crossed it instead. Best mistake ever.
Make a Q&A video we want to get to know y'all.
We did one a few months ago, but perhaps we should do another!

The name "Arun" means "Dawn".
That must have been a magical site, especially for foreigners that had never seen it before.
Arun is a well-earned name.
Another great video.

Hopefully not too many homes and businesses were damaged by the floods. When it floods in America, people go sledding in the roads 😂
Really Enjoyed Video. I Also Enjoy Walking. My Option ONLY Best Way To See An Area / Neighborhood Is By Walking. Bloopers Made Me Laugh.
Absolutely agree. I think the best thing is just observing the everyday life of a place as you walk through it. Nothing compares.
up north and rent the bike for ride to greenery mountain
Jack's bar is one of the best sunset view point in town.

That is VERY helpful, thank you 😊 🙏 Cheveyo is determined to get used to the spiciness 😂
Going to Wat Arun by accident. That's pretty good luck.

This is very useful advice, thank you! We were very very lucky to see Wat Pho like that. It was one of the most beautiful things we have seen.
So lucky to visit with no tourist usually 50 buses and you try and get a picture -- excuse me .lol..
It was very very nice to see it so empty. Once in a lifetime sight, I think 😊
What’s the name of the last place you guys ate at ?
Jack's Bar. Great place.
@@OnePackWanderers thank you !
Excellent walking
Glad you enjoyed it 😊

is it hard to get by with only speaking English? how do you guys go around Thailand with a google translator?

It took 4 long months to hit 1k subs, and only three days for 400 more...... interesting!

Thank you. We weren't sure what to do, because we don't want to be disrespectful so we try to wear the mask in most situations.
