  • Carysfort Lighthouse is located off the coast of Key Largo in the Florida Keys. It was built in 1852 and named after the HWS Carysfort, a Royal Navy Post Ship, that ran aground on the reef in 1770.

    Interesting fact, Carysfort Lighthouse was built under the direction of Lieutenant
    George Gordon Meade, the same George Gordon Meade that when on as Commanding General to win the Battle of Getteysburg in 1863. And Meade was in command of the Union Army of the Potomac until the close of the U.S. civil war.

    Nice! The light was in much better shape 🙁 today is very deteriorated

      Bad idea, to many rules. You have to remove it in 90 days. I say pass
