i've been waiting for this to come out, perfect start to a Saturday. I haven't followed many people talking about this prize but from the people I have there does seem to be some accordance that a lot of these books are just not hitting the way they should.

I’ve nearly finished the Maiden and I largely agree with your assessment. Violet’s character is more intriguing than Lady Christian’s. And I think the author could have done more with the subject matter. Although it is her first novel so I’ll let her off this time 😅

Yes agreed, Lady Christian was my main issue, I really liked Violet!💚
